Smiling into my glass I take another sip of wine.

"Lola!" I jerked at the sound of my name.
My mother-in-law practically runs toward me, I grimaced at her six-inch heels silently praying she doesn't fall and break her neck.
In the bathroom Eva proceeded to powder her nose and reapply her lipstick. Making kissing faces at herself in the mirror, very different from the woman I saw only moments ago. "What was that all about?" I asked. Eva looks at me in the mirror, no longer distracted with her image "That my dear daughter in-law is called taking out your opponent before they even have the chance to strike at you" At my clueless look, she continued. "That girl is two years your senior and the best friend of Eliza. Yes, that Eliza. An exact replica of her mother bitter with her sharp tongue. She and her little friends have gotten it in their head that you stole Niko from their friend. I've being watching her all day and was just waiting for her to pull one on you. She was clearly trying to make you look foolish and like a bad wife! Anyone with working eyes will know that you've never cooked a day in your life. They will use your weakness as ammunition against you so before they strike
***** Moments, minutes or hours later I collapse on the bed breathing so hard. Niko and I had gone at it for what felt like hours. I panted loudly trying to catch my breath. I blinked trying to focus my gaze, my legs felt like jelly.
*** “No, don’t cut it” I tell the attendant behind me when she brings a tiny scissors close to my hair. “I know, you said that the last time. I just want to trim an uneven strand” the smiley salon attendant explains. Relived, I nod. Say what you will, but even a decade later, I haven’t been able to allow my hair get cut other than the occasional trim when I’m getting a hair treatment so it doesn’t get too long. I guess my father thought me a lesson that stuck. I hear sniping sound then release a breath when she finally puts the scissors away. And begins running a brush through my hair. It’s being a few weeks since I attended the little gathering with Gianna, since then, things have been a bit quiet. Niko and I going at a steady pace. I keep myself busy when I can. Ke
I don't know how but I find myself in my bedroom upstairs. What just happened? I've never imagined I would make Niko so upset with me and over something so little. And he is upset. The worst part is that I don't even know why. So I invited my cousin over without asking him first. It was just in the moment, when I cousin told me I just said yes out of excitement. I didn't see anything wrong with it.
“He’ll let it go, the capo cannot stay mad at you for long and he spoils you, just tell him you are sorry. You didn’t realize what you were doing” Gianna says over the phone. And I didn’t. I guess I didn’t really think. I was just excited of seeing my oldest friend. I immediately called Gianni when I left the dinning room downstairs, at odds with what I should do, I didn't even know how I should feel, I just knew that my husband was upset with me, I didn't even know why, I mean I know it was because I invited my cousin over without telling him first, I just didn't really understand why that would make him so upset. After giving a scolding like I’d never had before she proceeded to explain to me how disrespectful it was of me to invite another male into our home, relative or no without seeking permission from my husband. But what made it wars was my utt
I sit in the limo, looking out the window and seeing people exit the door dragging suitcases and carry-ons. Some of them even had airplane pillows hanging from their neck. I resist the urge to roll my eyes at them. Michael wouldn’t let me wait outside the vehicle. My cousin should be coming around any moment now… I do yet again another count down. Five, four, three, two, one… The next to exit is a trio of young girls, maybe a few years older than me. they look happy, is it their first time in New York? They look happy, eager to see what the world has to offer.I don’t think I was ever like them. I always knew what the world had planed for me. I live in a different world after all. The glass of the limo goes down, calling my attention, standing at the far end is my cousin.I unlock the door and jump down. “Carlos!” I yelled waving my hands until I get his attention.
When I step into the house I'm still smiling, "office, upstairs" Danilo says to be before he heads to the kitchen, Michael at his heels. I guess that's where Niko is, "wait..." I called out but they've already disappeared into the kitchen and can no longer hear me. Which office exactly? I had wanted to ask, now I just begin walking up the grand staircase.
I blink my eyes only to be greeted by darkness in the room. A quick peak at the bedside clock tells me the time is 1am. Niko's warm body spoons mine from behind. One of his muscled arms is acting as my pillow the other is thrown over me his fingers cupping my breast loosely. My stomach grumbles loudly which brings me back to what woke me up. There's no way I can ignore this hunger and go back to sleep. The Hunger pangs feel as though my intestines are at war.I crawl from under Niko slowly so as not to wake him.Throwing on my silk robe I head to the living room.Hopefully I'll fine some leftovers in the fridge and won't have to go downstairs. Five minutes later I gape at my empty fridge. What the?... I frowned as I push around unopened wine bottles, a jug of orange juice, a jar of milk and more wine? How is this even possible? I could have sworn there was some leftover pie from two days ago. I
