He kept snapping his fangs at the wolf until the animal gave a furious snarl and ran into the trees. I stood frozen, my whole body trembling. He turned to me , his eyes had turned gold. The air left me in a ragged rush. “W-What are you?” I forced the words out. He stepped toward me slowly, palms open. “Lila, please—” “Stay away!” I gasped and took a step back. “Don’t come near me.” Before he could move, I turned and ran. His footsteps were behind me. “I’m not going to hurt you, Lila. Just please wait and listen.” Liar. A big liar. The wolves wanted me dead for reasons I couldn’t begin to understand. His hand closed on my arm, hard. He pulled me back. I screamed and thrashed. “Let me go! Let me go, you monster!” “Lila, please listen to me ” he begged. For a second I stopped. But I couldn’t forget what I had just witnessed. Tears burned at the corners of my eyes. “You’re like them.” My voice broke. “You’re a monster.” Pain flickered across his face. “I would never hurt you. I never wanted to.” He swallowed. “That’s why I didn’t tell you.” “You’ve been… this the whole time?” I jabbed a trembling finger at his face. “Lila—” he reached for me and I flinched away. “Don’t touch me. You lied to me my whole life. Everything was a lie.” “I’m sorry, but it was for the best.” He sounded exhausted. “For the best?” I laughed, bitterly “What else have you lied about ‘for the best’?” “Please. Let’s talk somewhere safe. It isn’t—” He cast a look toward the trees. “It’s not safe here.” “I’m not safe with you either. ” I exclaimed sharply making him flinch. “I know you don’t trust me right now. I’ll explain. But if we stay, those wolves will come back in full force. And they won’t stop until you’re dead.” His voice turned firm. “I am not like them. If I were, you wouldn’t still be alive.” I wanted to run, I wanted to run as far as I can away from this and pretend none of this nightmare was real. But he was right, I couldn’t stay here . I didn’t know the way back alone. “Please,” he whispered. Soft as a confession. “Let me get you somewhere safe. You don’t have to believe me. You don’t have to forgive me. But you don’t have a choice right now.” When he opened the car door, I hesitated then slid into the passenger seat. He didn’t start the engine right away. His knuckles were white on the wheel. “ I understand that you are confused and scared right now ,” he said finally. “You’ve been kept in the dark. But I’m not your enemy. I won't hurt you.” I hugged myself, staring out at the trees. “Then what are you?” He hesitated. “What you saw… it wasn’t human. I’m not just human. None of us are. I really wanted to tell you but I just couldn’t.” I closed my eyes and said nothing for the rest of the drive. Immediately when I got home I climbed out without looking back. He came in a few minutes later and closed the door behind him. “Your father—” he began, then took a breath. “Me and almost everyone else you know… we’re werewolves.” I laughed until it sounded like a sob. My father? A Werewolf? That’s nonsense. “You’re lying.” My voice cut through the room. “He would never hide something like that from me,” I insisted. “He would, to protect you,” he replied. “They want you dead, Lila. Wolves not from our clan believe you should never have existed. They see you as a stain to our kind.” His voice low at the end “A stain?” My stomach dropped. I didn’t ask to be born into anything. I wanted to be alone. "I don't want to hear anything about it anymore" I stood up heading straight for the stairs. I don't want to hear it. "Lila-" I stopped, my hand tightening on the railing, but I still didn’t turn back. “Your father did everything he could to keep you safe.” He said softly “But that was not enough now, was it?” I whispered, I didn’t wait for his reply before heading upstairs. I dragged myself down the stairs in the morning even though my whole body ached and my eyes were swollen from crying, even though I told myself I wouldn't think or cry about it. When I entered the kitchen, Nanny Rosa was already there, cooking something on the stove. She turned and looked as if she’d been waiting. “Bambi......” I froze. That single word told me everything. She knew. I tried to look away, but she pulled me in her arms. Her embrace was warm, it felt like home. “You know now,” she murmured against my hair. And the tears I had fought all night betrayed me, slipping free. I hated that I cried, I hated that I had to deal with this. Nanny Rosa continued petting me in her arms like she had when I was small. “Bambi,” she whispered, using the pet name only she ever called me. “You don’t have to carry it alone.” I pressed my face into her shoulder, voice breaking. “I don’t want this, Rosa. I never asked for any of it.” She smoothed my hair but didn’t say anything. A sharp knock at the front door brought us back to reality. Rosa stiffened, her hand tightening on my arm before she stood up to open the door. Theo stood at the door, his face unreadable and cold. “The doctor will come by soon to treat you,” he said evenly. “Rest for today. Tomorrow, you will be coming with me.” My stomach tightened. “Coming with you where?” He didn’t get a chance to answer me before Nanny Rosa cut in “Can’t it wait? She’s been through enough. Postpone it, she will go there later.” He shook his head, jaw tight. “The elders already know she’s learned the truth. They demand to see her immediately.” I asked again firmly “Where exactly are you taking me?” He looked at me, his face unreadable before he finally answered. “To the Pack house.”☆☆LILA☆☆ I didn’t sleep. Not because of the cold, or the IVF that was finally gone. But because I didn't have my sleeping pills with me. I contemplated asking Rowan for it but decided against it. My thoughts drifted back yesterday when he removed my IVF. The way he removed the needle carefully, it didn’t match the man who dragged me from my wedding. The next morning, the maid came again, she was silent as always. She placed the tray down and left, I looked up expecting to see Rowan standing by the door but there was no one there. The door was closed shut. For the first time in days, I was alone. Finally I walked to the door, pressing my ear against it. Nothing. No footsteps. No rustle of clothes. Everything was just quiet. I tested the knob. Locked. Of course. I ate slowly, staring at the empty corner where he usually stood. The more I looked at it, the more annoyed I became. What, now he was avoiding me? I pushed the tray away and paced around the room. I didn’t have mu
☆☆LILA☆☆The maid came in again, quiet as always. She set down the tray and left before I could even ask her what day it was.She gave me bread, meat, and soup. Normal. I sniffed it. Not poisoned. Not yet. But the spoon and fork were still plastic. I stared at them for a long second. Then sighed. They have just been repeating the same circle, feeding me, changing my drip and Rowan standing at the door making me uncomfortable half of the time.I looked at the fork. It was plastic but I can at least tryI waited until the footsteps outside faded away, then pulled the tray closer. If they were going to keep me here, then I’d at least try something. Anything.I picked up the fork, tested the edge. It was weak, bendable, but maybe enough. My left hand still had the drip stuck in it, so I dragged the stand along with me as I crossed to the door. The wheels squeaked across the floor. I tried to wedge the fork into the lock, twisting it just slightly. It didn’t move.I tried again, harder thi
☆☆THEO☆☆ The pack house was still a mess. Four days after the day that was supposed to be our wedding and everything was still upside down. The Elders were everywhere, questioning people like that would somehow bring her back. Kai was trying to calm me down, again. I could hear him outside, talking to one of the guards. At first, I thought she ran away. It would’ve been easier that way. Lila ran when things got too much that sounded like her. But when I saw the bodies outside her room, I knew that she was taken. No one runs and leaves that much damage behind, and Lila was not capable of taking down five wolves by herself, but I knew who could do it. I stood by the window, staring at the woods. My room looked like hell, with broken glass on the table and papers scattered everywhere. I hadn’t eaten or slept in days. I couldn’t. My head felt heavy, but I couldn’t stop thinking. I’d already snapped at Kai twice, and Raya hadn’t shown up since yesterday. She was probably still
☆☆LILA☆☆ The next morning, I was already awake before the maid came in. I hadn’t slept much anyway. Every time I closed my eyes, I either saw Rowan’s face or kept thinking about how to get out of this place. The tray in her hands smelled like soup. My stomach growled. I was definitely hungry, but I ignored it. I was observing her, hoping this time they’d make a mistake. Maybe give me something sharp, an iron fork or something I could actually use. But no. The spoon clattered against the plate, plastic again. I sighed. “You people are really scared of me, huh?” She didn’t answer, just bowed slightly and left as quickly as she came. I stared at the door for a long second, then at the food. I didn’t even touch it. A few minutes later, the door opened again. Selene walked in. Her face was calm, unreadable, as always. She didn’t say good morning or ask how I was. She hardly talked to me after I mentioned her little secret. She just went straight to checking the drip, her fingers
☆☆LILA☆☆The first thing I woke up to see was a blue ceiling, i looked around the unfamiliar room trying to understand where I wasI tried to move, but my body felt heavy. My eyelids stung when I tried to open them very well. I didn’t even know where I was. Everything in this room was sky blue. There was a faint sound beside me, beep, beep. A machine somewhere close. When I finally managed to sit up, something tugged at my hand. I looked down and saw a tube taped to my skin. My heart skipped. I followed it up to a drip stand, slowly realising what it was.My breathing quickened.I gripped the tube and tried to pull it out, but a hand caught mine before I could.“Hey! Don’t do that.”Her voice was calm but firm.I turned quickly, and my head throbbed for a second. A woman was standing there, she looked my age, maybe younger than I was. She wore dark blue scrubs and had a neat ponytail that made her face look sharper. Her eyes were grey, almost silver, she was beautiful.“You’ll hurt yo
☆☆LILA☆☆ Sunlight shining on my face was the first thing that woke me up. For a second, I didn’t move. I just lay there, staring at the ceiling, listening to people move around the house. It was exhausting. Today was supposed to be my wedding day. The thought alone made my stomach twist. I exhaled slowly and pushed myself up, rubbing my eyes. Maybe I should try to be happy, I told myself. Maybe I should at least try. Theo wasn’t a bad man. He had been kind to me, patient in his own quiet way. Maybe I could make it work. Maybe I could fit in their world. But something in the air felt off, no matter how hard I tried to convince myself it was not working My eyes landed on the dressing table. The flower, the one Theo gave me was gone. I frowned. I hadn’t told anyone to put it in water yet. I was supposed to, but I forgot. It was there last night. I was sure of it. “Maybe someone took it,” I murmured under my breath, brushing the thought away. Someone must have seen it wilting
