Lucan’s POV

"Fine!" I say immediately. "I'll fight anyone you choose!"

"However," Elder GoodOld continues, "We want to make sure the contest is fair. You claim to have alpha blood in your veins, correct?"

I nod eagerly. "Yes, absolutely,” but halfway through the nod, I realise that he might just be setting me up

"Then your body should heal from your injuries within five days," Elder Silvers explains. "True alphas have accelerated healing abilities. If you really carry alpha blood, you should be completely recovered by then."

My heart stops. Five days? There's no way my injuries will heal that quickly. I'm not a true alpha. I am just here claiming that I am a real alpha, but deep down I know that I am not.
