PHASE TWO, REVENGE

CHAPTER 006

Alicia’s POV

A low groan escaped my lips as I stumbled to the floor, a result of the head maid using the back of the steel bucket to hit my back. I clenched my jaw hard, the back of my eyes burning with tears and anger rising from the pit of my stomach. There were a lot of things I wanted to do, to say, to yell out at her but I could not, for my sake, and for proving the stupid monster king wrong. I shut my eyes hard, shoving all the tears that desperately wanted to roll down my cheeks back before managing to stand up.

“Is this how you behave where you came from, Alicia? So lazy, can’t even pick anything up, is this it?” She hollered at my back.

I paid her no heed and continued with the cloth I had been assigned to wash, all in the name of Artfold Panther whose definition of showing me hell was housework and starvation. I didn’t mind any of it though, because in a new light, i get to live and there was something i had just thought of that i didn’t think of before wanting to die.

REVENGE.

I would burn the entire world to the ground, for everything i’ve gone through, for everything they made my little boy go through. And i swear on the name of the moon goddess, no one would be spared, not even the littlest of the animal kingdom. My jaw hardened again as the head maid hit my back, my hand halting on the clothes i was washing. I turned to meet those stupid large black eyes of hers, steam blowing hot from my ears.

“What! You want to beat me!” She taunted.

“Nope. But I'm not promising you won’t be injured if that thing touches me one more time.” I growled at her.

She eyed me, a little bit of fear staining her confidence before I turned back to what I was doing. For three days now, i’ve been working tirelessly on little amount of food, just because a certain Alpha king has decided that i took something i had no fucking idea of from him. I heard her mutter some insultive words at my back before shoving off with her feet.

“That was brave of you, no one has ever talked to her like that before.” A young lady said beside me, my eyes briefly glancing at her.

I nodded and offered her a little smile, turning back to what I was doing. I was going to be out of here soon enough, and the last thing I needed to make was friends, or gossip. But her word made me think different, was it going to be different if i had been brave, if i had tried to stand up to Walter for once in my life, if i had tried to go head to head with him instead of being a pity pooper, would my little child be alive or would it still be the same.

“You know, you have to find a cure to whatever you’ve done to the alpha, this is the first stage and he’s still being nice to you.”

I halted, whipping my head to her, “Nice!” I exclaimed.

She nodded before moving close to me, “Everyone knows already. You’re a witch who made the alpha mark you and now you’re trying to get close to him, the others might not want to say it but i’m not scared. If he’s still assigning you to washing dishes and starving you, then he’s still being nice. Once he stops, it won’t be funny. That’s when..” she halted, her eyes darting around before whispering into my ears, “the real hell begins.”

I raised my brows in confusion, my eyes squinted at her, “First I was a slut, and now a witch? What other names does he have in store for me?” I muttered.

“Just undo whatever you did. You seem like a nice person, and if you think of being the Alpha’s luna, just know that people have tried and not one person has been able to. He loves her so much that he won’t even forget about her.”

I watched as she clasped her soapy hands together, her eyes turning all dreamy, “Such true love.”

All her words just added to my confusion, “Who is she?”

“His ex mate, Liana. He loved her so much, but she died and since then, he has not been with anyone. He beats himself up on her death, and he h..

I wanted to shut her up and tell her it was a lie. He didn’t love Liana, if he did, he won’t be in a bar finding a woman to sleep with, or sharing a bed with me. He would be in her grave every night, crying, “So now you’re like the fifth person trying to get to his bed, thinking they can take Liana’s memory from him and offer him a new…

“Wait, what?” I cut her off, my face crumpling as the realization set in.

She was the one he was talking about, the one he could not remember anything about and was pinning it all on me. This was why i was going through all of this, why he was bent on showing me hell. I looked at my wrist and stared at his tooth mark on it, looking back at the lady, “Do all the other girls have this mark on them too?”

She moved closer again, closing the little space between us and squinted her eyes on my wrist, “I think this is why you’re different, you made him mark you, and now you won’t undo it. I think your punishment would be worse than the other girls,” She replied, a hint of pity in her tone.

Before I could say anything back to her or respond, the door was flung open, the both of us scramming away from each other as fast as we could as we continued our duties. I raised my brows as i scented a new masculine scent, turning back to meet a guard’s gaze, “The alpha has sent for you now.”

For three days he had not once sent for me, I had requested to see him, to hear him talk, but not for once did he call. And yet, now,

“I think you’re able to begin phase two,” I heard the lady say.

“What’s phase two?” I managed to mouth to her with my eyes still on the guard.

“You have to come with me now!” The guard interrupted, his voice sterner.

“The chair,” she said.

I quickly washed the soap out of my hand, my heart beating in fear, “What’s the chair?”

I felt the hard hand of the guard on my arm as he pulled me away from where I was staying, pulling me away with him.

“What’s the chair!” I managed to yell out at her.

She shook her head, her lips pouted out and a look of pity in her eyes, “I’m so sorry, but I only know it as the chair!” She yelled out after me.
