It had been three hours since we were brought to the prison, and I still couldn’t believe that, in less than two days, I’d ended up in a place I’d spent my whole life trying to avoid. And it was all because of the Wolfe brothers.

I hadn’t been put in a cell. Instead, I’d been questioned because I was one of the last people who’d seen Soren before he escaped, even though more than a day had passed since then.

Apparently, only Asher and I had come to see him, and they suspected us of being accomplices in his escape, which I found very laughable because I didn’t even like the man.

Asher, on the other hand, was placed in a cell. Even though I felt bad for him, he deserved some kind of retribution for deceiving me and then attempting to lie when I found out.

“Ma’am, you’re free to go now. Your husband will have to remain in our custody until bail is posted for him,” the officer who’d arrested us said, and my eyes snapped open.

I hadn’t even realized I’d fallen asleep.

“Is your friend on her way?”

I’d called Sierra once we got here, and even though it was midnight, she’d promised she’d come for me. But I hadn’t heard from her since.

“I don’t know,” I mumbled tiredly, rubbing my eyes. “She should—”

“I’m here for my friend.”

I heard Sierra’s voice from the entrance.

I turned to see that an officer was holding her back.

“Is she your friend?” Officer Davies asked.

I nodded.

“Fletch, let her in,” he called out to the one who was stopping her.

Once free, she rushed to me, engulfing me in a tight hug.

“Oh, hon,” she cooed. “I should have been here sooner.”

Finally, in the safety of her arms, I let myself have the full breakdown I’d been keeping restrained all this while.

If the day had gone as I planned, I should have been in bed, in my husband’s arms. But no. Here I was, in jail, wearing the dress I bought for when we were supposed to have breakfast together the next morning.

It was supposed to be my first night as a married woman, my first night in my new life, but it was one of the worst nights of my life.

The whole day was one of the worst of my life.

I cried onto Sierra’s shoulder for longer than I could tell.

I cried until my throat grew raw and scratchy. I cried until my head started to hurt.

I cried until I couldn’t anymore. Not because I didn’t want to, but because I had no tears left in me.

“Do you want to talk about it?”

I shook my head.

She didn’t push, instead holding me tighter.

The gesture alone made me open up. “I didn’t get married to Asher, Si.”

“You’re lying.” She pulled away to search my face. “Tell me you’re lying, Rory.”

“No, Si.”

“H–How? Then who? Who was at the altar?”

My throat grew tight, and I swallowed down a sob. “Asher has a twin, and they swapped places.”

I went on to tell her about everything I had found out earlier, right up to the events that landed me here.

Her brows had drawn together, and her eyes had taken a furious look by the time I was done. “I’m going to kill him — them. I’m going to kill both of them.”

One of the officers cleared his throat. “Is there an issue we need to deal with?”

Sierra tossed him an irritated glance and pretended not to hear, turning back to me. “What do you want me to do? Anything you want. I’ll do anything for you.”

I knew that, and that was why I called her. She would do anything for me, and I’d do the same for her.

“I don’t need you to do anything. Just tell me how I can fix this, Si,” I pleaded, tears gathering in my eyes again. “I didn’t marry the man I wanted to, and even if I get a second chance, I’m not sure I’d want to marry him. I don’t even want to see him right now. I just want to know how to get out of this mess.”

She pursed her lips as she thought for a moment. “Would you want to get a divorce?”

My brows pulled together. “Divorce? Is that allowed to happen when we just got married?”

It had come across my mind on the way here, but I wasn’t sure it was an option yet.

She shook her head. “Not exactly. But I’d suggest giving it three months before we take any legal steps. It’ll give us time to figure out the best way to handle this, whether through an annulment or a divorce.”

I didn’t even need to think first. “I’ll talk to him about it.”

That same moment, a man and a woman, both dressed too formally for such an ungodly hour, entered.

They drew everyone’s attention immediately.

“We are here for Mr. Wolfe,” the woman said.

“Which one?” Officer Davies asked.

She muttered something under her breath.

“Soren. Soren Wolfe,” the man answered in her place.

I assumed they were Soren’s lawyers.

“Hold on a second,” Officer Davies said, standing. “I’ll go get him.”

As he left, the woman finally looked our way, as if just noticing us, and I realized how intimidating she was.

It wasn’t just because she was tall—Sierra was, too—but because, with her oxblood suit and dark hair in a sleeked-back bun, she had an aura about her, like she could ruin someone’s life in the blink of an eye.

Officer Davies returned a few minutes later, with Soren strolling in behind him in handcuffs.

“Wow, it’s like staring at the same person,” Sierra whispered to me.

I nodded in agreement.

The woman immediately went to him, muttering angrily under her breath as his jaw clenched, while the man turned to the officer.

“Where do we sign?”

He gave them the paperwork, and Sierra and I sat back and watched as they signed.

Soon enough, Soren was released until his first court appearance a month later, while Asher was still in a cell.

I hadn’t gone to see him, and I wasn’t planning to.

As they headed for the exit, I suddenly remembered something.

“Wait!” I shouted, shooting up from my seat and running to them.

They stopped just short of the door. The woman was the first to regard me, even though she seemed annoyed.

“How can we help you?”

“I need to talk to Soren, please.”

The woman and the man shared a look.

“Please,” I begged.

They glanced at each other again, then she sighed.

“Make it quick.”

I immediately pulled Soren aside.

“Begging for my attention already? Didn’t expect you to be so desperate to talk to me, wife,” he taunted as he trailed behind me.

I stopped, turning to glare at him. “I’m not—” I took a deep breath. “Before you leave, we have to deal with the marriage issue.”

My words settled between us heavily, and something flickered in his expression.

A long moment passed before he finally raised an eyebrow. “What do you want to do about it?”

I wanted to ask why he put his name instead of Asher’s, but instead, I responded, “We are getting a divorce. My friend is a lawyer, and she says we should give it three months before we proceed with anything.”

“Seems you’ve already got everything figured out, so what do you need me for?”

“I just had to let you know so you wouldn’t think I want this marriage,” I bit back. “I’ll find you when the three months are over, but before then, don’t try to contact me.”

“Wasn’t gonna.” His gaze traveled down my body before he smirked. “You aren’t exactly my type, and I don’t do seconds either, babe.”

Something like hurt stirred in my chest at the insult, but I pushed it down.

“Good.”

“You done now?”

I nodded.

The corner of his mouth lifted. “Alright then. See you in three months, wife.”

He winked, then returned to his people, and they walked out of the station seconds later.

As I watched him leave, I was certain I was done with the Wolfe brothers.

But at the same time, a feeling tugged at my chest, telling me that they might not be done with me yet.

Aurora’s POV“Asher,” I looked between the two of them, only able to tell the difference between them because one was almost naked, and judging by what I thought I’d just heard, he was—Oh my God. I couldn’t even bring myself to put the thought together.I stepped further into the room, refusing to believe what I’d first heard.“What did you just say?”The one who was fully clothed in what I’d just realized was a copy of the outfit the other had worn during the wedding, stepped toward me, his hand reaching out to touch me.“Ror, I can explain.”I stepped back before his hand made contact with my skin.“Don’t,” I told him. “Don’t touch me, Asher. Explain everything I just heard, but don’t try to put your hands on me.”It was a miracle I was even able to look at him at that point.I was disgusted with him. With them. I was disgusted in myself for not being able to recognize the man whom I thought I was marrying.“Aurora.” He tried to touch me again, and the glare I gave him made him t

SorenAs soon as I stepped into the room, Asher’s fiancée — or should I say, my wife, stood from the bed and approached me. I was about to open my mouth to stop her when I noticed what she was wearing, and my words died in my throat.A lingerie. A fucking red, lacy lingerie. And it showed everything. Her abdomen, tits, her perky pink nipples… shit, even her cunt was barely covered by that thing she had on. Utterly fucked. That was what I was.I scrubbed a hand over my face, my eyes taking her in again on their own accord, feeling like a creep which I probably was at that point. I hated to admit it, but my brother’s fiancé was sexy as hell.My cock was already hard just from the sight of her, and that was something that never happened, especially not from someone like her… someone who wasn’t the type of woman I went for. I was ashamed of myself.I forced myself to look away, counting freaking sheep going over a fence in my head just to get my damn boner to calm down. When it finally

AuroraHe was late. Five times. I called him five times this morning to remind him —obviously a waste of time — that the wedding was still on, but he still chose to be thirty minutes late. Sierra came to my side, and the next second, my phone was swiped out of my hand. “Rory, you’ve called him so many times already. He isn’t magically going to pick up now,” she said softly. “How about you take a seat while we wait, so you won’t be too tired to stand when he finally arrives?”My eyes shifted to the hall’s entrance. “But it’s been thirty minutes already. Why isn’t he here?”“I don’t know. But he’ll be here soon, I promise.”How could she promise that when everyone had already called him more times than I could count, and he still didn’t pick?A scary thought crossed my mind. Oh my god. What if he ditched me?My eyes darted to the entrance again, wishing the doors were going to burst open by him. But there was no chance of that happening, so I let Sierra guide me by the elbow to a ben

Soren’s POV I barely tried to hide my smirk as my brother’s supposed fiancée’s eyes widened. She looked like she’d seen a ghost. Which, if I was being honest, was a huge blow to my ego. I couldn’t blame her for her shock, though. My brother had always kept my existence like his dirty little secret. I’d never seen someone as ashamed of their reflection as he was of me. “T-twin?” she stuttered. My smirk widened. “Don’t tell me you didn’t tell your little fiancée about my existence now, brother.” His eyes narrowed at me. “Soren…” I looked back at his fiancée. I had to say, he’d always had a type. Dark, curly hair, hazel eyes that looked green under the right lighting, short but not too short… that kind of stuff. I cocked my head. There was something different about this one, though. Something that almost made me believe he wouldn’t ditch her. Almost. “You have a twin?” she asked, looking at me while directing the question to my brother. “Babe…” “You have a twin and you di

And not only that, he might’ve assaulted or possibly taken advantage of the woman.Oh my God.I blanched as bile rose in my throat. My throat felt tight, and tears stung my eyes, blurring my vision.I tried to breathe… to speak, but words felt impossible.Arms wrapped around my shoulders immediately.“It’s okay. You’re okay.”Hearing Sierra’s voice did little to calm me down.“A-air,” I croaked, urging myself forward. “I need air.”“Oh, baby. I’ve got you.”She stood immediately, coming to my side as she helped me up, managing as quickly as she could to get me out of the store.Once we were outside, I took a large, gulping breath. Then another. Then another. It took several minutes for me to regain myself.Asher would never do that to me… to anyone, I told myself. He was too pure at heart to ever do something like that. I knew it. But then there was the
