Cole's pov

Swapping places with my twin sister just to live with her husband? This has to be one of the craziest things I've ever done. I had to be going completely out of my mind. What on earth was I thinking? Just because of a car... sure, it was a very special, limited-edition hypercar, but still!

I stood in the middle of a massive, unfamiliar living room, shifting my weight back and forth in a heavy red gown. I winced as the fake bra dug directly into my ribcage. Is this what women actually deal with every single day? It was beyond annoying, and I tugged at the stiff fabric uselessly, trying to get an ounce of relief.

"Here is your heart monitor, Clara."

A sharp voice rang out from behind me, and my heart instantly skipped a beat. I silently prayed to every god in existence that Xavier wouldn't figure out the swap. If the man discovered the trick, there was no telling what he would do to me. Xavier Sterling was rumored to be the unpredictably ruthless, cold, and ridiculously handsome CEO of Sterling Tech Global.

"Clara," Xavier’s voice came again, closer this time from the staircase.

A violent shiver ran straight down my spine. I turned around slowly to face him, forcing a soft, delicate smile onto my face while consciously raising my voice to sound as feminine as possible.

"Yes? Sorry, I zoned out for a second."

I took a cautious step toward Xavier, who was standing a few steps up the grand staircase. He was holding out a sleek black wristwatch. The heart monitor. Clara had specifically warned me about this exact little device, the marriage counselors gave it to them, and they…we had to wear it continuously throughout the ninety days of their court-ordered cooling-off period before the divorce could be finalized. It is meant to track the heartbeats, location, arousal and health of the wearer.

Clara had said they were told to wear it to make sure the decision to divorce was not rash and to understand if they just needed more time together and the heartbeat and arousal tracker was to know how they feel towards each other.

Ninety days. Just ninety days, I repeated in my head like a desperate prayer.

I reached out and took the wristwatch from his hand, offering another polite little smile. But my fingers shook involuntarily as they brushed near his. I couldn't tell if it was because of the intense, heavy way Xavier was staring down at me, or because I was a full-grown man wearing my twin sister's dress, standing right in front of her husband.

And the worst part? We had to stay together for at least twenty hours every single day.

I couldn't even avoid him if I wanted to. My mind raced as the reality settled in.

Xavier adjusted his cuffs, his cold gaze scanning me slowly from head to toe. "We don't need to make this harder than it already is. Let's just try to stay out of each other's way for the next ninety days. You will handle the cooking, and I will focus on my work."

I blinked, my fake smile freezing completely. "I don't know how to cook. Well... except for simple things like eggs or toast."

Xavier’s dark eyes raked over me again, one dark eyebrow rising slightly. "Is that so?" He paused, letting out a quiet, exasperated sigh. "I will handle the cooking then."

I nodded quickly, immensely relieved I wouldn't burn the kitchen down on night one. "That would be best. Thank you."

"Also," Xavier continued, his voice completely flat, "we have to sleep together..."

"What?!" I gasped out loud, my eyes widening in pure horror. "Sleep together?!"

Xavier shut his eyes, taking in a slow, deep breath to keep his patience in check. I gulped hard, my chest tightening as my legs prepared to bolt straight for the front door.

He opened his eyes, glaring down at me. "I haven't finished my sentence. We will be sleeping in the same bed. I am not interested in touching you. You can go inside the room now and do whatever you need to do. I will stay down here and come up in an hour."

Thank God, I thought, letting out a breath I didn't even realize I was holding.

I forced another quick nod. "Alright. Thank you."

I quickly gathered the heavy train of the red gown in my hands and started climbing the stairs, carefully squeezing past Xavier on the narrow step. I kept my head down, trying my absolute best not to breathe in the rich, expensive scent of his cologne.

I took three fast steps toward the top landing, feeling like I was about to make a clean escape.

"Clara."

Xavier's deep voice called out from behind me, echoing sharply in the quiet hallway.

I froze on the top step. My body went completely stiff, my hand gripping the wooden railing so hard my knuckles turned white. Slowly, terrifyingly, I turned my head to look back over my shoulder.

Xavier was still standing on the stairs, looking up at me with a strangely sharp, unreadable look in his dark eyes.

"You look..."

Cole's povNo, no, no... what the fuck!Panic flared through every single nerve in my body, hot and blinding. I held my breath, trying to slowly, millimeter by millimeter, slide my leg out from under his heavy thigh. But the more I squirmed and wriggled, the harder it became. The sheets kept tangling around my ankles like a trap.Everything in this damn house is against me!I couldn't make any sudden moves. I couldn't just leap out of bed like I had been shot. If I woke Xavier up right now, he would immediately get suspicious about why I was so desperately trying to break away from him. A normal wife wouldn't act like she was lying next to an active bomb. Then, as if the universe decided I hadn't suffered enough, I felt Xavier shift in his sleep. He lifted his heavy leg, dropping it right between mine and yanking me even closer against his warm, broad frame. My knee bumped into something remarkably solid and thick. My eyes went wide as saucers in the dim morning light, a wave of sheer

Cole's pov Why is he not talking? Oh God…has he changed his mind?!“What are you afraid of?” Xavier said with a smirk, taking a calm step forward and sliding beneath the heavy sheets. He pulled the duvet up over both of us, resting his head back against the dark leather headboard without a care in the world."I sleep better with my clothes off," Xavier said smoothly, settling into his pillows. "You don't mind, do you?"Oh, hell yeah, I fucking mind! I screamed in my head, staring wide-eyed at the dark ceiling while my heart hammered against my ribs. Sleeping in bed butt-ass naked right next to me?! What the actual hell is wrong with this man?!I swallowed the lump in my throat, forcing my lips into a small, tight smile. "It's... it's fine. Whatever makes you comfortable.""Good," Xavier murmured, closing his eyes. "Get some rest, Clara.""Yeah. You too."He didn't make another move toward me. He just lay there on his side of the massive king-sized bed, leaving a solid two feet of emp

Cole's pov My eyes went wide, and my heart shot straight into my throat.I scrambled across the slick bathroom tile, throwing my entire weight against the door just as the handle turned completely down. The door jostled against my shoulder, but I held it shut with everything I had."Nope! No, stop! Don't come in!" I yelled, trying desperately to sound small and soft despite the pure desperation in my voice. "I just committed a literal atrocity in here! I just finished pooping, okay?! This place smells like absolute shit! Please go away!"A deep, amused chuckle echoed from the other side of the wood."I can't smell anything from out here," Xavier said, his voice entirely unbothered. "I'm pretty sure I can handle it.""No! Please, no!" I squeaked, pressing my back flat against the frame, praying my grip wouldn't slip. While holding the door shut with one hand, I frantically used the other to shove my dick back inside my underwear, cursing under my breath. My hands were shaking so hard

Chapter 4: Caught Off GuardCole's pov I spun around so fast to face Xavier that my foot caught in the edge of the heavy duvet, and I went tumbling sideways. Before I could crash onto the hardwood floor, a strong arm shot out, grabbed me firmly around the waist, and yanked me right back onto the mattress. I landed with a soft thud, my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird."Careful," Xavier muttered, his voice dangerously close to my ear.I scrambled to sit up a little, clearing my throat and forcing out a small, high-pitched chuckle that almost didn't sound like a chuckle at all. "Not... not what? What were you going to say?"Xavier stared at me in the dim light for a long, heavy second, his dark eyes unreadable. "Never mind."I let out a deep, quiet breath, sinking back into the pillow and trying to look relaxed. But then I felt his hand still resting on my side. His fingers twitched slightly before gripping my waist even tighter, pulling my body back against his warm

  • MARRIED TO TWO RIVAL CEOS    Chapter 3: Playing Along

Xavier's povI laid in the dim master bedroom, listening to the quiet, steady breathing of the person sleeping next to me.I had murmured "Clara" out loud, but in my head, I knew better. This wasn't Clara. I had only seen my arranged wife once on our wedding day, but I knew this wasn't her. They looked insanely alike, almost down to the exact jawline, the nose, and the hair…but the energy was completely wrong. Clara was stiff, formal, and tried way too hard to project high-society perfection. This person was chaotic, jumpy, and practically radiating panic. So it's either the Titans built a high-tech robot to take her place, I thought, staring at the back of the figure's head in the faint moonlight, or they sent her twin brother.Deciding to test my theory, I reached out under the heavy silk covers. I snaked my hand around the person's waist, feeling the soft, ridiculously loose cotton of the baggy pajamas, not that I planned to actually do anything with him or…it.Before my fingers co

  • MARRIED TO TWO RIVAL CEOS    Chapter 2: A Close Call

Cole's pov I turned back slowly toward Xavier, letting out a stiff, awkward laugh. "Look what? Look beautiful? Look gorgeous?"I folded my shaking hands into tight fists behind my back, desperately trying to hide my trembling fingers. Xavier just stood there on the stairs, staring up at me with an unreadable gaze."You look... different," Xavier said, his voice quiet and even. "Taller."I laughed awkwardly again, my heart slamming against my ribs the longer I stayed trapped under his heavy eyes. I forced myself to turn away, casually waving a hand."Well, it's been a year since we last saw each other. It's only normal that I've... changed. Or grown a bit taller."Xavier said nothing to that. He didn't argue or probe. He simply turned around without another word and headed back down the stairs toward the open living room. The second his back was turned, I let out a long breath I didn't even realize I was holding. I leaned against the hallway wall for a second, clutching my chest. That
