I groaned, pulling the covers over my head. "What? Can't you let me sleep?"
"No way! I saw you last night at the party, and you were having the time of your life! You were dancing with that mystery man, and I could tell from the way you were talking to him that you liked him," Amelia said, a mischievous glint in her eye.
I sat up, feeling a mixture of embarrassment and excitement. "Oh, stop it. We just had a good time. It doesn't mean anything. Plus how did I get home?"
"Really? Because I could have sworn you were making out with him in the washroom, plus I saw you wasted in the washroom and managed to get you home" Amelia said, raising an eyebrow.
I blushed, feeling a rush of memories from the night before. "Okay, fine. We hooked up, but I don't even remember his name or phone number. It was just a one-time thing. Thanks for bringing me home anyway."
"Well, that's too bad," Amelia said, looking disappointed. "I was hoping we could track him down and set you two up on a real date."
I shrugged. "It's not a big deal. I just wanted to let loose and have some fun."
Just then, my phone beeped, I had a message and I hurriedly sat up to read.
It was from my network provider. I sighed and lay back in bed. "My head aches"
"I'll just get you coffee, I think you're having a hangover" Amelia replied as she stepped out of the room.
"I am incredibly grateful to have her as a friend. How could anyone not feel grateful to have such a wonderful person in their life?"
I carried on with life, but thoughts of him lingered. However, I brushed them off, not ready for drama. Suddenly, something disturbing happened, jolting me back into reality.
I sat on the couch, my hands clasped tightly in my lap as I confided in my friend Amelia. "It's been a month now and I still haven't gotten my period," I said, my voice quivering with worry.
Amelia furrowed her brow, studying my face carefully. "That's not normal. Have you been experiencing any other symptoms?" she asked.
I shook my head. "No, just this. Do you think something could be wrong?" I asked, feeling a lump form in my throat.
Amelia placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. "It's possible that you're experiencing a hormonal imbalance. Let's go to the doctor and get it checked out," she said, her voice reassuring.
Suddenly, her eyes widened in shock. "Wait, wait!! The guy at the party, did you both have protected sex?" she asked, her tone urgent.
I hesitated for a moment before shaking my head. "No, we didn't"
Amelia's expression hardened. "What? You don't even have the slightest idea of who he is. How could you?"
Ava's cheeks reddened with embarrassment as she stumbled over her words. "I messed up, I know, but I can't be pregnant."
Amelia's heart ached for her friend. "It's alright, Ava. No matter what, we'll get through this together,"
"I can't be pregnant. This can't be happening," she muttered, her eyes filling with tears.
Amelia took Ava's hand and pulled her into a warm embrace, holding her tight. "You'll be alright, we aren't even sure yet, we need a PT strip to get a test done.
After the test;
"I can't believe this is happening," I whispered, the tears flowing freely now. "I've ruined my life."
Amelia held my hand tightly, trying to offer some comfort. "It's going to be okay, Ava. We'll figure this out together"
"How am I going to tell my mom? What is she going to say when she finds out?" I cried, my voice breaking with emotion.
Amelia's heart went out to me. "We'll cross that bridge when we get to it. Right now, we need to focus on taking care of you and the baby"
"Maybe I should consider abortion. We can't afford to have a baby right now," I whispered, my voice trembling with uncertainty.
But Amelia shook her head firmly. "That's not the only option, Ava. We'll find a way to make this work. You're not alone in this."
Amelia burst into my room a few minutes later with the idea to revisit the party venue for clues. Skeptical but hopeful, we quickly got dressed. As I walked through the entrance, Memories flooded back from the other night but I waved it off. I was too worried to think about that.
As soon as we arrived, we started searching for any clues. We spoke to the bartender, the DJ, and anyone who worked at the party. But no one had seen or heard anything about the man in the mask."
"Everyone here was masked, we couldn't have known who your man was" the manager blurted
"How about the names of attendees?" I enquired I didn't remember his name. "Never mind, " I muttered
As I stood with my friend Amelia, I pondered on any potential leads to the mystery man who had ordered the ring. Suddenly, I remembered the ring I had found in my purse the previous month which was too big for both of us, raising the question of who it belonged to.
"We have to get home now," I exclaimed to Amelia. "Remember the ring I showed you last month? I think it belongs to him. I think I dropped it in my cupboard. Let's take it to the jeweler and ask him if he knows who owns it."
Amelia nodded in agreement, her eyes filled with a newfound determination. "But there are so many jewelers at the market," she said. "How will we ever find the right one?"
I knew she was right, but I couldn't shake the feeling that we had to try. "We just have to keep searching," I replied.
For weeks, we searched every jeweler we could find, asking questions and showing the ring to anyone who would listen. Our search seemed fruitless, and I felt my hope slipping away.
But then, one day, we stumbled upon a small jeweler tucked away in a corner of the market. The jeweler examined the ring closely, turning it over in his hands before finally speaking. "I made this ring for a man a few months back," he said. "But I don't know who he was. He never gave me his name."
"Do you have any other information about him?"
"I'm sorry. It's been a year since he ordered the ring. I don't have any record of his name or number. In addition, he came for pickup after it was done. If we had delivered it to him, we would have that information."
As my pregnancy progressed, I felt an overwhelming sense of frustration at my inability to identify the father of my unborn child. The weight of this secret was too much to bear alone, so I sought refuge in Amelia's room. She had just returned from work, still glued to her laptop, "Do you ever rest?"She sighed "It's my boss," she groaned. "He keeps piling up extra work for me to take home and make more money for the company but doesn't even bother to give me a raise in salary. It's like he revels in draining me." "I understand how you feel, baby girl. Don't worry, you'll be fine," I said, placing my hand on her shoulder to offer comfort. "You're incredibly talented and I'm sure that soon enough, you'll have your own company with all your brilliant ideas."She looked at me skeptically, "Do you think it's that easy? Who even knows me?"I smiled reassuringly and gave her a pat on the back. "It's not about who knows you now, it's about what you can do. If you put your ideas into acti
As I walked into the hospital, my mind was racing with worry about my son's critical condition. I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't even notice the guy who was walking towards me with a bag of groceries. Before I knew it, I had bumped into him, and the contents of his bag spilled out onto the floor."Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed, my heart racing with embarrassment."It's okay," he replied, his voice calm and composed. "It was my fault. I wasn't looking where I was going."As we both bent down to pick up the items, I realized that the guy was quite good-looking. I couldn't help but steal a glance at him as we worked together to retrieve the scattered groceries."I hope nothing was broken," I said, trying to make small talk."No, everything's fine," he replied, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "I'm just glad the eggs didn't crack."We both laughed, and I felt a momentary sense of relief from the stress of the past few days. But as I stood up, my mind returned
I ran as fast as I could, leaving Daniel struggling to catch up with me. I was determined to escape the situation and hailed a cab. Rushton was the driver, and I told him to speed off towards my home. As we drove, my mind was filled with questions. Where had the masked man been all this time? What was Faith's motive in arranging for us to meet during her dinner date? How was I going to overcome this?Memories of the one-night stand flooded my mind, and I couldn't stop the tears from falling. The salty droplets flowed down my cheeks as I pondered my next move. I was overwhelmed with emotions, and I knew I had to make a decision soon.As the cab raced towards my home, I couldn't help but wonder if I had made the right choice by leaving Daniel behind. Was it cowardly of me to run away from the situation? I knew I had to face my problems head-on, but the fear of confronting my past was paralyzing. As soon as the cab driver dropped me off, I quickly paid him and ran straight into my apartm
My heart skipped a beat when Daniel suddenly declared his love for me. I was taken aback by his sudden confession, and my mind raced with a flurry of conflicting emotions. I knew I liked him, but I wasn't sure if I was ready to take the next step. "I...I don't know what to say," I stammered, my voice trembling with uncertainty. Daniel's expression turned somber, and I could sense the hurt in his eyes. "What's the matter? Don't you feel the same way?" he asked, his tone laced with disappointment. "It's not that," I said quickly. "It's just...I don't know if I'm ready to say that yet." As I spoke, I could see the hope in his eyes fading away, replaced by a sense of dejection. I didn't want to hurt him, but I couldn't bring myself to say something that I didn't genuinely feel. "I like you a lot, Daniel," I said softly, trying to reassure him. "But I just need more time." He nodded slowly, trying to hide his disappointment. "Okay. I understand," he said, his voice barely above a whis
My eyes narrowed as I crossed her arms over my chest. "What do you want, Ethan, your friend said you're Ethan yeah?""Yes, I'm Ethan,I just wanted to talk to you," he said. "I've been thinking about you a lot since the dinner, and I just wanted to see how you were doing, and also know why you ran off when you saw me."My expression softened a bit, and I stepped back to let Ethan in."Ethan, I don't know why you're here," I said. "But whatever it is, say it and leave.""I'm confused as to why you're so angry, it took me a lot to find you. Please don't ask me to leave just yet. At least, let me know what the problem is," Ethan said in a sobber tone."" You hurt me," I blurted, my voice trembling. "You left me alone, Ethan. You didn't even drop your number or even your name. All you did was show up when I was about to get a lot happier then you ruined everything." I yelled, lifting my face upwards to hold back the tears that had already surrounded my eyelidI'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I tho
"I came to see Ava," Ethan replied calmly, but his eyes narrowed in suspicion. "How did you know where she lived?""You snuck up on me, you snake," Daniel spat angrily."I needed to see her, I needed to make things right," Ethan replied, still calm despite the growing tension.Ethan's anger began to boil over, "You have no right to come here after all you did!" he yelled. But Ethan's expression quickly shifted as he continued, "Look, I'm the father of her children. That gives me the right to come around whenever I want. You knew about my kids but didn't think it wise to tell me? What kind of friend does that?"As soon as Daniel spoke, his eyes flashed with anger. "Look Ethan, I've been there for her through thick and thin. And just when we've started building something together, you show up trying to bury it all? Hell no! I won't let that happen."The tension between the two men was palpable, and I knew I had to intervene before things escalated further. "Please, guys," I pleaded, ste
I was touched by the gesture and thanked him before he helped me put the necklace on. As we continued our walk, I noticed how the necklace sparkled in the fading light."It's beautiful," I said, admiring the delicate design.Ethan grinned, looking pleased with himself. "I'm glad you like it," he said.We sat in silence for a few moments, enjoying each other's company and the peaceful surroundings. I felt a sense of contentment wash over me, knowing that I was exactly where I was supposed to be.Finally, Ethan broke the silence. "I'm so happy you said yes," he said, looking at me with sincerity in his eyes."I'm happy too," I said, feeling a smile spread across my face. "I can't wait to see where this goes."Ethan took my hand in his and squeezed it gently. "Me too," he said softly. As we wandered through the estate, we stumbled upon a charming little restaurant, nestled in a secluded corner. We were led to a small terrace, adorned with flickering candles and delicate flowers, which o
