The fire blazed fiercely overhead, thick smoke drifting into the dungeon and making it difficult to breathe. Liam held tightly to my wrist, as if afraid I might vanish the moment he released me. He had every reason to be afraid.

Alven, still on chain, regarded Liam with a cold, amused expression, while Tina stayed at the entrance, her face a mask of neutrality. But I caught the brief spark in her eyes neither fear nor anger, but something more dangerous.

Tina was plotting something.

And I was about to find out what it was.

Later that evening, once things had settled, I found myself confined to a different room, isolated from Alven. My wrists ache from the ropes, but my mind wouldn't allow me to relax.

I was certain that Liam would come for me again. Yet my primary concern was not him; it was Tina.

The way she had looked at him earlier made my skin has goosebumps.

I had to discover her intentions.

When the guards switched shifts and silence enveloped the hallway outside my room, I took

  • MATED FOR ONLY A BABY   DANGEROUS PATH

Gwens POVThe mountains stood prominently and steady against the horizon, their sharp peaks filled in mist as we approached the ruins. Here, we hoped to find the answers we sought.Over the past two days, we had been hunting down the remnants of Kai's army, dealing with captured warriors to reveal information. Most died before revealing anything, remaining loyal to him even in their final moments. However, one warrior who feared Kai more than he feared torture uttered a crucial phrase before succumbing to his injuries."The Shadowborn wait in the ruins of the Forgotten."It wasn't really useful tho, but it was a guide, and right now, it was all we had.Liam walked quietly beside me, observant yet silent. His wounds were healing gradually, but his anger lingered the more. Alven was ahead, tense and gripping his sword tightly. He hadn't spoken much since our confrontation with Kai not out of fear, but out of fury. At himself. At me. At everything.Xander trailed behind us, his usual gri

  • MATED FOR ONLY A BABY   THE HUNTER BECAME THE HUNTED

Gwens POV Though the night was still and quiet, I knew better than to trust the calm, just too calm to be true. The fires had been off, leaving only the odor of ash and blood behind a scene crafted to suggest we had lost the war to them.Kai believed we were dead. That was precisely what I wanted him to think for now.I doged in the shadows of the batterd camp, my breathing calm but my body ready for a fight. The warriors around me moved silently through the ruins, waiting for the right moment to strike. This had gone beyond a simple fight; it was the initial maneuver in a much larger game than any of us had grasped and comprehend.Liam knelt beside me, his expression unreadable and deadly as well. "He'll come," he whispered.I nodded. "He must."Alven was stationed on higher ground, his gaze sharp as he scanned the darkness like a cat. Xander stood behind me, keeping a tight grip on his weapon. "If this fails..." he murmured.I clenched my fists. "It won't not ever."Yet even as I sp

  • MATED FOR ONLY A BABY   TRUTH

(Gwen's POV)The night air was cold, though I felt little of it on my body. My body throbbed with pain, my wounds stung like bee, and my mind refused to calm. Kai was alive and worse still, he was the mastermind behind everything that is happening.I sat by the river, staring at my reflection in the dark waters. The person staring back was no longer who I used to be. I had lost too much and fought too hard, too hard and I'm loosing it already.Liam sat silently beside me. His usual silence pace, replaced by a dense silence. Alven and Xander stood nearby, speaking in low whispers, their expressions grim and clear. It was clear to everyone; this was no longer just a war.We were battling my brother.Eventually, Liam broke the silence. "What's the plan, Gwen?"I inhaled deeply, pushing down the emotions threatening to overwhelm me. "We need to discover who trained him. No one attains that level of power alone, like for real."Alven frowned. "You think he's just a pawn in the game?"I nodde

  • MATED FOR ONLY A BABY   GHOST

(Gwen's POV)The battlefield lay still and Frozen, the remnants of the fight ringing in my mind. Pain ran through my body, my clothes wet in blood, but none of it mattered. Because before me stood Kai, a blast from my past and it is really terrifying honestly. For years, I had mourned my brother's death, believing I was the last of my family. Yet here he was, alive, bounding with the enemy, and worse he was the true architect, the sole beginner of everything that had happened.Liam stood next to me, his grip on his sword tightening and breath heavy. "Gwen," he murmured, "who is he?"I struggled to speak. "My brother."A smirk danced on Kai's lips, his golden eyes shining with amusement. "Took you long enough to realize, little sister." His tone was smooth and confident, but an icy undertone made my stomach twisted.Alven stepped forward, rage evident on his face. "You knew about this?" he spat at me.I shook my head. "No... I thought he was dead, like for real."Kai laughed, shaking his

  • MATED FOR ONLY A BABY   ENEMY

Gwen POV Selene's words echoed in my mind like a tempest. The name she had uttered lingered on my mind like a lullaby, a persistent shadow refusing to let me be. I never expected to hear it again. For so long, I believed that Ronan was the one planning everything. Then I thought it was Selene. But now? Now I understood the reality. They were merely pawns in the game. The true enemy? They were still out there, and if Selene was correct, they had been biding their time for the perfect opportunity to strike like what the furk.I faced her, my grip on my blade tightening. "Where are they?"She laughed softly, shaking her head. "Oh, Gwen. You really think I'd just share that with you?"I pressed the dagger against her throat, but she didn't even flinch nor move."You're too late," she murmured. "They're already on the move."A wave of fear washed over me. This wasn't merely a warning. It was a declaration of war.I dragged Selene back to camp, my thoughts racing like bolt. If she spoke th

  • MATED FOR ONLY A BABY   JUDGEMENT DAY

Gwen POVThe morning was filled with unease. The whole camp was up, gathered around the central fire where the chained prisoners Ronan, Selene, and Tina knelt down awaiting judgment. The previous night had dragged on with critical discussions and restless thoughts. Now, the moment had arrived to determine their fate at ones.Liam stood next to me, arms crossed and expression blank and void. Xander and Alven guilded me, weapons at the ready. The Bloodfang warriors circled the prisoners, their faces displaying a mix of anger and eager anticipation. Everyone had their opinions on what should happen next to them. But ultimately, the choice was mine.Taking a deep breath, I stepped forward. It was time for action.I locked eyes with Ronan first, and his usual arrogance had vanished, replaced by a cold calculation. Even in chains, he remained a threat, like a furking threat."You murdered our people," I said, voice steady. "You tortured us, burned our homes, destroyed families." I moved clos
