The forest is eerily quiet; I can only hear my growling stomach.
I know I shouldn't be so close to a pack territory as a rogue but there is hardly any other choice. Food first.
Besides, any wolf I saw would most likely be an omega like myself. I could easily deal with those.
Confident, I go further into the forest, following my nose as I rush through. Any animal would be fine, I just needed something quickly.
The moon is out tonight and a cool breeze is blowing. If I was anywhere else, I would have been able to appreciate all this. But I could not.
I'm too close to the Silver Moon pack. The Alpha of this pack was rumored to be extremely merciless to rogues.
Infact, he was a legend- slaying any rogue he spotted on the spot. The stories had it that he had killed up to a thousand rogues.
I move quietly and quickly through the forest, experienced after years of running and hiding. After my parents were killed by their pack for a crime they did not commit, I fled.
Since then, I've always been on the run- always eating scraps and forever hateful of stupid pack wolves.
I seethe through my teeth remembering all my encounters with pack wolves. They were snobbish useless dogs who looked down on us for being different.
While I'm deep in my thoughts, I hear something move. I come to a halt and turn slightly to see what the sound was.
Everywhere is still; my heart begins to pound violently.
Oh no.
I sense the aura before the figure darts towards me. In the blink of an eye, something huge crashes on me and I fall to the ground.
My head lands roughly on the earth and my ears begin to ring. For a moment, I cannot hear or see.
"Tell me now, little wolf- what pack do you belong to?" I hear a deep, gruttal voice hiss.
My vision is blurry, I can barely make out the person above me. From his scent and force, I can tell at once- he's an Alpha.
A very powerful one.
"W-w-wait...food. Was looking." My sentence does not make any sense but it's all my brain can get out.
The man above me growls. I can hear his claws growing; extending to kill me.
Is this how it's going to end?
My vision finally clears and I see him.
For a second, I am startled by the pure beauty of this man. Under the moonlight, his pale skin glows; his green eyes shine with madness and his canines point sharp.
Just when I think the claw will land and he will pull my head right off my shoulders; he stops.
Infact, I stop as well.
We're stuck- looking into each other's eyes with growing confusion.
There's a word swimming in the back of my head; one I did not expect at the moment of my death.
Mate.
Immediately, this strange man rises from my body. He's shaking his head as if he cannot believe it. Something on his neck catches the moon's pale light.
It's a necklace with a half moon pendant. My heart drops and I feel like I've been knocked by the wind.
He's the alpha of the Silver Star Pack.
My mate is a pack wolf.
A disgusting, horrifying pack wolf.
I can feel my lungs losing breath; my hands are shaking but it's not from fear. It's from rage.
Why was the moon goddess so cruel as to pair me with a sick pack creature like him?
I rise to my feet, a little dizzy from the collision. My mate looks at me; his own eyes are burning with anger as well. Oh the irony- the rogue hating alpha had a rogue for his mate.
"You will not speak of this," the alpha hisses. Before I can shout back at him, I hear some loud footsteps. The heavy stench of beta wolves follows and I have to hold myself not to fall from fear.
An omega was meant to crumble in the presence of such powerful wolves.
"Alpha Liam! The rogues we were after got away. They left some tracks though, so we'll be able to find them soon." A tall, muscular man says. Afterwards, his brown, deep eyes fall on me.
"You caught one..."
The three other wolves behind him all have their eyes on me. I want to cower; I want to hide under a rock and cry.
I don't though. Instead, I look them straight in the eyes.
"Ahhh, feisty little wolf you've got here, Alpha. What do you plan to do with her?"
Liam glances at me; he's warning me not to say a word. Threatening me.
I look away, swallow the poison in my throat.
"She'll come back with us. I will take her as a slave." Liam takes me by the arm forcefully and I feel hot tingles over the spot.
"Let me go. Let me go, you filthy dogs!" I bend and let my canines piece the alpha's hand. I bite it with so much force that I draw blood.
However, the four betas laugh.
"I see why she caught your fancy, Liam. You'd have lots of fun with this one. Ha!"
My blood boils at this statement and I growl madly at the fool that spoke. He only laughs harder, making me angrier.
Liam sighs and lets my arm go. Before I can think of what to do, he whisks me up and throws me over his shoulder.
"Behave yourself, girl."
He tells his packmates to go ahead of him and he'd be right behind. They agree and run back the way they came.
I draw my short claws over Liam's exposed back in a feat to somehow make him drop me. I bite the flesh and kick his stomach.
He's standing still, almost as if he is actually a statue.
After a while of uselessly biting and kicking, I feel his arms move up my thighs.
"It's taking a lot from me not to fuck and kill you right here, girl. Let this be a warning."
Immediately, I stop my attempts and the alpha begins to walk down the thick forest in the direction of the Silver Moon pack.
All I wanted was a fucking rodent to eat...
The world was filled with flames. The packhouse was being consumed by fire, thick smoke coming into the night. The heat burnt my skin, and the foul smell of burnt wood and blood invaded my senses. I could hear screams echoing in every direction. It was chaos. Amidst the destruction, I found myself frozen between two men.Liam his grip tight around my wrist, his green eyes filled rage mixed with an unfamiliar feelings.Alven standing amidst the smoke, sword drawn, his expression unreadable. This was war.And I was right in the center of it.***I had always called Alven was my brother.Ever since my parents passed away and I was a young rogue wolf, he stepped in as a family figure for me.He had protected, guided, and taught me how to survive. I trusted him with my life, and thought the bond between us was just for brother and sister. But I was mistaken. The way he looked at me...Initially, I refused to accept it, but whispers surrounded me. I noticed how Alven sometimes looked at me
The fire blazed fiercely overhead, thick smoke drifting into the dungeon and making it difficult to breathe. Liam held tightly to my wrist, as if afraid I might vanish the moment he released me. He had every reason to be afraid.Alven, still on chain, regarded Liam with a cold, amused expression, while Tina stayed at the entrance, her face a mask of neutrality. But I caught the brief spark in her eyes neither fear nor anger, but something more dangerous.Tina was plotting something. And I was about to find out what it was.Later that evening, once things had settled, I found myself confined to a different room, isolated from Alven. My wrists ache from the ropes, but my mind wouldn't allow me to relax.I was certain that Liam would come for me again. Yet my primary concern was not him; it was Tina. The way she had looked at him earlier made my skin has goosebumps.I had to discover her intentions. When the guards switched shifts and silence enveloped the hallway outside my room, I took
I sat in the cold dungeon, my body aching and thoughts racing. The dim light from a low torch illuminated the light, reflecting my own feelings of weakness and despair.Next to me was Alven, his breathing was unsteady, with his leg injury still oozing blood. Thick iron chains bound his wrists, designed for the most dangerous of prisoners; it was clear Liam wasn't willing to take any risks with him, as he posed the greatest threat. And that meant I was in danger too.Tina's words echoed in my mind: "Liam might be your mate, but I'm the one he's going to marry."The idea twisted my stomach in anger and something else, something I didn't want to acknowledge because part of me still cared, a part I wished I could erase. But emotions can't distract me now. Alven was here, and he had a plan.Alven looked around the room, his sharp eyes assessing our surroundings. "They believe we're powerless," he murmured. "That's their first mistake."I frowned at his injured condition. "Alven, you can
Pain.It was the first thing I felt upon waking. A sharp ache in my wrists from the ropes digging in. My entire body ached, my head shoked, my lips were wounded, and my throat was dry.I was back in Liam's territory.Back in the place from which I had fought to break free. The dim room was infused with the smell of damp stone, illuminated only by a small torch on the wall. I attempted to shift for comfort, but the cold chains on my ankles made it impossible. I had been locked up like an animal.Footsteps.Heavy, slow, purposeful. The door creaked open, and he entered.Liam.His green eyes found me, his expression unreadable. He looked disheveled his shirt stained with blood and his arm bandaged. Though injured from the ambush, he stood tall, unyielding.Unlike me.I glared at him. "I hope you bleed to death."He smirked and moved closer. "Good morning to you too, love."I held at the chains, my anger boiling. "I'm not your love. I was never yours to begin with."Liam knelt next to me,
I fled. The wind stung my face, and my legs ached as I ran faster, refusing to look back. I couldn't afford to hesitate; if I did, Liam would seize me.Branches brushed my skin, while my bare feet sank into the damp earth as I dashed through the dense woods. My heart raced, overwhelming the sounds of dangerous creatures surrounding me. Although the air was chilly, I was drenched in sweat. There was no plan, no destination only the pressing need to escape.Liam's voice echoed in my mind: "You belong to me, Gwen."That wasn't true anymore.A distant howl pierced the night. Then another. Liam's wolves were on the hunt.I drove my legs to run faster, my breath ragged. My body protested, still weak from all I had endured in his pack. But I couldn't stop.If they caught me... I might never have another chance.***My lungs burned as I reached a steep slope, my feet struggling for traction on the loose dirt. My body begged for rest, but I pressed on, my eyes scanning ahead. Then I spotted it
Just as I had thought, that night was only a one time thing.Once we were done, Liam had excused himself, taking off in the direction of the river. I, on the other hand, returned to the pack, trying not to regret what we did. Now, fast-forward to five weeks later, I'm sitting in the fields as usual, watching the warriors spar and listening to little Theo rant about something. Liam barely speaks to me these days; hell he hardly ever looks my way.In these past weeks, I had made friends with Helen who couldn't shift just like me. She told me she had always been afraid to approach me, wondering how I'd react to a pack wolf after all her pack had done.We clicked immediately and she became the only solace I had here.Along with Theo of course."Aunt Gwenny, will you come for the ceremony?" My heart takes a pause at that moment and I have to frown. Liam had been arranged to mate Tina officially. Her pregnancy was true, she was already showing.Seems he was really serious about getting th
The silence that followed Liam's roar was deafening. Even the critters of the forest go quiet at his voice. But I refuse to- not this time."You can roar and run mad all you want! I am tired! I am tired of this; of you! You disgust me, you sicken me, you make me hate like I've never hated before. My parents! I watched my parents be devoured by your kind! I watched their own pack wolves tear them to pieces! And now look...I'm stuck here- with a good for nothing alpha like yourself! Kill me or let me go, Liam. I want nothing to do with you."Tears stream down my face steadily and when I'm done uttering these words, my entire body is shaking.Every single hurt is coming back to me and I cannot understand what to do. What was my fault in all this?Yes, I am an omega, and yes a rogue too. But did I deserve the torture that Silver Moon has subjected me to?Was it necessary?Liam is looking at me intensely; he's not speaking but I can see his fingers twitch. For a while, we don't say anythin
"And of course, I must thank my dear Liam for his unwavering strength and leadership. He's been my rock." She turned to him, her expression soft and adoring.Liam gave a curt nod, his face unreadable.Tina's eyes darted to me, her smile turning sharper. "Though some guests are... uninvited, we all know our Alpha has a heart large enough to extend mercy even where it's undeserved."The crowd tittered with laughter, their eyes locking onto me. My chest tightened, the burn of humiliation spreading through me like wildfire. My mockery hadn't even settled down yet when alpha Maxwell Tina's father chipped in coldly. "Her presence alone contaminates this hall, I don't know why you keep her around, she is a disgrace to your pack and did she really have to be invited to my welcome party Liam?" The cold faced alpha said as he stared at me in disgust. My wolf stirred within me, weak but angry. It clawed at my chest begging for release and before I could think better of it, I snapped."Say that
The healer's words replay in my head as I walk back to the omega house, Helen trailing silently behind me. "Two days if she must conceive." The phrase gnaws at my mind like a persistent thorn. My relief at not being pregnant is quickly overshadowed by the knowledge that I'm not free yet.Freedom is so close I can taste it, but it's also slipping through my fingers.Helen clears her throat behind me, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Do you want me to fetch you anything? Food, maybe?"I glance over my shoulder at her, startled by the offer. Kindness is rare here, especially directed toward me. Suspicion creeps in, but I push it down. She seems genuine, and I'm too drained to dissect her intentions right now."No, thank you," I say, my voice hollow. She nods, her gaze darting to the ground before she scurries off, leaving me alone. As I reach my room, I lock the door behind me and slump against it, closing my eyes. My body feels heavy, weighed down by exhaustion and the relentless ache
