The forest is eerily quiet; I can only hear my growling stomach.
I know I shouldn't be so close to a pack territory as a rogue but there is hardly any other choice. Food first.
Besides, any wolf I saw would most likely be an omega like myself. I could easily deal with those.
Confident, I go further into the forest, following my nose as I rush through. Any animal would be fine, I just needed something quickly.
The moon is out tonight and a cool breeze is blowing. If I was anywhere else, I would have been able to appreciate all this. But I could not.
I'm too close to the Silver Moon pack. The Alpha of this pack was rumored to be extremely merciless to rogues.
Infact, he was a legend- slaying any rogue he spotted on the spot. The stories had it that he had killed up to a thousand rogues.
I move quietly and quickly through the forest, experienced after years of running and hiding. After my parents were killed by their pack for a crime they did not commit, I fled.
Since then, I've always been on the run- always eating scraps and forever hateful of stupid pack wolves.
I seethe through my teeth remembering all my encounters with pack wolves. They were snobbish useless dogs who looked down on us for being different.
While I'm deep in my thoughts, I hear something move. I come to a halt and turn slightly to see what the sound was.
Everywhere is still; my heart begins to pound violently.
Oh no.
I sense the aura before the figure darts towards me. In the blink of an eye, something huge crashes on me and I fall to the ground.
My head lands roughly on the earth and my ears begin to ring. For a moment, I cannot hear or see.
"Tell me now, little wolf- what pack do you belong to?" I hear a deep, gruttal voice hiss.
My vision is blurry, I can barely make out the person above me. From his scent and force, I can tell at once- he's an Alpha.
A very powerful one.
"W-w-wait...food. Was looking." My sentence does not make any sense but it's all my brain can get out.
The man above me growls. I can hear his claws growing; extending to kill me.
Is this how it's going to end?
My vision finally clears and I see him.
For a second, I am startled by the pure beauty of this man. Under the moonlight, his pale skin glows; his green eyes shine with madness and his canines point sharp.
Just when I think the claw will land and he will pull my head right off my shoulders; he stops.
Infact, I stop as well.
We're stuck- looking into each other's eyes with growing confusion.
There's a word swimming in the back of my head; one I did not expect at the moment of my death.
Mate.
Immediately, this strange man rises from my body. He's shaking his head as if he cannot believe it. Something on his neck catches the moon's pale light.
It's a necklace with a half moon pendant. My heart drops and I feel like I've been knocked by the wind.
He's the alpha of the Silver Star Pack.
My mate is a pack wolf.
A disgusting, horrifying pack wolf.
I can feel my lungs losing breath; my hands are shaking but it's not from fear. It's from rage.
Why was the moon goddess so cruel as to pair me with a sick pack creature like him?
I rise to my feet, a little dizzy from the collision. My mate looks at me; his own eyes are burning with anger as well. Oh the irony- the rogue hating alpha had a rogue for his mate.
"You will not speak of this," the alpha hisses. Before I can shout back at him, I hear some loud footsteps. The heavy stench of beta wolves follows and I have to hold myself not to fall from fear.
An omega was meant to crumble in the presence of such powerful wolves.
"Alpha Liam! The rogues we were after got away. They left some tracks though, so we'll be able to find them soon." A tall, muscular man says. Afterwards, his brown, deep eyes fall on me.
"You caught one..."
The three other wolves behind him all have their eyes on me. I want to cower; I want to hide under a rock and cry.
I don't though. Instead, I look them straight in the eyes.
"Ahhh, feisty little wolf you've got here, Alpha. What do you plan to do with her?"
Liam glances at me; he's warning me not to say a word. Threatening me.
I look away, swallow the poison in my throat.
"She'll come back with us. I will take her as a slave." Liam takes me by the arm forcefully and I feel hot tingles over the spot.
"Let me go. Let me go, you filthy dogs!" I bend and let my canines piece the alpha's hand. I bite it with so much force that I draw blood.
However, the four betas laugh.
"I see why she caught your fancy, Liam. You'd have lots of fun with this one. Ha!"
My blood boils at this statement and I growl madly at the fool that spoke. He only laughs harder, making me angrier.
Liam sighs and lets my arm go. Before I can think of what to do, he whisks me up and throws me over his shoulder.
"Behave yourself, girl."
He tells his packmates to go ahead of him and he'd be right behind. They agree and run back the way they came.
I draw my short claws over Liam's exposed back in a feat to somehow make him drop me. I bite the flesh and kick his stomach.
He's standing still, almost as if he is actually a statue.
After a while of uselessly biting and kicking, I feel his arms move up my thighs.
"It's taking a lot from me not to fuck and kill you right here, girl. Let this be a warning."
Immediately, I stop my attempts and the alpha begins to walk down the thick forest in the direction of the Silver Moon pack.
All I wanted was a fucking rodent to eat...
Gwen POVEverywhere felt unusually quiet than usual.Morgana was no longer here, but her dark presence was still dripping within me,I can feel it.Liam stood motionless and unmoved like a Statue, looking at me as if he no longer recognized who I was, like I am the new villian. Alven and Xander observed from a distance, holding on to their weapons not for protection but due to uncertainty, they were really scared. And here I was, standing in the midst of it all, feeling empty, void.Empty except for the burden of my recent actions. The power within me moved, whispering, telling me something I don't know, enticing. Morgana might be gone, but her essence and presence remained. It was as if she had never truly departed from us.I held my fists, trying to draw in breath, trying to think clearly. Trying to assure myself that I was still the same person. But deep down?I wasn't sure of that anymore.Liam was the first to break the stillness. He approached me slowly, his golden eyes searching my f
Gwen POV The ground shook beneath me, filled with an energy that was no longer Morgana's. It was mine now. Before me, Morgana knelt, her fiery dangerous red eyes reflecting an emotion I had never encountered fear. The immortal witch, the publisher of my nightmares, was scared of me now.I should have felt triumphant, but instead, I felt empty, void. Shadows held her wrists, restraining her. She struggled, but they no longer answered to her; they answered to me,I am their new boss. Behind me, Liam, Alven, and Xander stood frozen in shock, unable to recognize the person I had become. I wondered if I even recognized myself.Morgana raised her chin, a smirk playing at her lips. "You believe you've won, little wolf?"I remained silent and calm, knowing better she wasn't defeated yet. Deep down, I sensed this was merely the beginning of the main gig.Tina lay gasping on the ground, her complexion pale and her strength waning, fading out gradually. She had nearly lost her soul to the wit
Gwen POVThe night felt unusually hot, thick with an inexplicable tension. Something was off tonight.Since we left the ruins, my sleep had been almost nonexistent. Each time I tried to rest my head, Morgana was there haunting my thoughts, unwavering in her observation.Tonight, however, that sensation intensified and unusual. It felt as if she was actively moving around us.Liam was next to me, silently sharpening his blade while Alven and Xander maintained their watch near the trees, both tense and alert. We all sensed that something was imminent, something dangerous. And then, it happened.A sudden, icy dust swept through our camp, unlike any ordinary wind it was hovering with whispers.Liam tensed beside me. "Did you hear that?"I nodded slowly. I did hear it.A single whisper. A name echoed in the darkness.Tina... Selene... Ronan...I froze in place.Liam, noticing my reaction, asked, "What's wrong?"I swallowed hard. "She's targeting them."His expression shifted in alarm. "Mor
Gwens POVThe forest had fallen silent again, yet I could still feel her presence around.Morgana may have disappeared, but she was still with me. I felt her gumming within me, like a dark whisper hovering around my soul, waiting and observing, looking for something maybe.Liam knelt beside me, his hands holding my shoulders tightly. Concern filled his tense expression and golden eyes. "Gwen, please, speak to me,what wrong."I swallowed hard, forcing myself to breathe steadily. A chill ran through me, as if something important had left my body, a piece of me was no longer my own again.Xander and Alven stood close by, weapons drawn, surveying the darkness among the trees, aware that our ordeal was far from over.I closed my eyes, striving to calm my racing heart. But the instant I did, I saw her again.Seated on a throne made of shadows. With my face.Smiling.I gasped and dug my fingers into the ground. I was no longer just battling Morgana.I was battling myself.Liam helped me stan
Gwen POVThe freezing morning air was thick and filled with unease. I was unable to sleep last night ever since I encountered Kai and heard his dangerous cautious warning.Morgana's voice filled in my mind, a haunting and scary whisper: You cannot escape me, little wolf.I held my fists, urging my legs to move as we rearrange our camp. Liam, Alven, and Xander appeared unfazed, unmoved but I was aware they sensed it too.Something felt off.The atmosphere was heavier, thicker. We were being observed from afar I think.Liam walked next to me, studying my expression. "You seem off."I sighed. "I'm alright."He narrowed his gaze. "That's a lie."I chose to disregard him,not minding what he said, tightening my pack straps. I couldn't waste time. I needed to understand what Morgana had done to me before it was too late,I really need to.If Kai was right... if I was already shifting into something elseThen I needed to stop it.Before I turned into a monster as well.**** We walked through
Gwen POVI sat motionless, looking at Kai across the fire. This wasn't right. He shouldn't be here, not now.Liam, Alven, and Xander were asleep, completely unaware of the threat and danger hidden in the darkness. But I was aware. I sensed it.The atmosphere around Kai felt wrong oppressive, dangerous as if he wasn't entirely there.Or perhaps... as if he had become something beyond human."You're not supposed to be here," I whispered.Kai turned his head slightly, a smirk playing on his lips. "Neither are you, little sister."I held the dagger in my lap tighter. I could call for the others, seek help. Yet, something told me that wouldn't matter.Because Kai wasn't here to fight. At least, not yet."You followed me," I accused. He chuckled softly, moving closer. The burning firelight cast strange shadows over his face. "No, Gwen. I've been waiting for you."A chill ran down my spine."Waiting for what?"His smirk grew. "For you to wake up."I frowned, confused. "I don't understand."Ka
