~RAVENNA~

His breath still ghosted my lips, his fingers still resting beneath my chin, when—

Bang. Bang. Bang.

The sound of the knock jolted us both.

Kaelion’s head snapped toward the door, a deep, vicious growl tearing from his chest—one that sounded animalistic.

“Your Majesty!” Beta Ronan’s voice came. “It’s urgent!”

Kaelion slammed his palm against the wall beside my head, caging me in without touching me.

His jaw flexed as he forced air through his lungs.

“Not. Now,” he snarled.

But another knock came, louder and desperate.

“My king, the elders and the seer are here to see you, they say they have news.”

My heart stumbled.

The elders and seer? Could they have found out about me?

Kaelion’s entire body went still, his muscles tightening like coiled steel beneath his shirt.

Beta Ronan continued, breathless:

“It’s about the shadows that appeared on the hallway earlier, my king.”
