Chapter 001: Betrayal Under the Blood Moon

AMARA

The rhythmic beeping of the machines did little to dull the searing pain in my chest. Every muscle ached, my body bruised and broken, but none of it compared to the humiliation clawing at my soul. It was everywhere—etched in my memory, whispered through the hospital halls, and burned into the pitying gazes of the healers who refused to meet my eyes.

I wasn’t just broken.

I was ruined, lost.

My mother sat beside me, her scent thick with worry. I could feel her unspoken questions pressing down on me, but I had no answers. How could I possibly explain what had just happened?

I shut my eyes, hoping to escape, but the memories came rushing back, sharp as a wolf’s fangs.

My mating ceremony—the night I had dreamed of for years—had turned into my worst nightmare.

The evening had started perfectly, like something out of an ancient werewolf legend.

The mating ceremony was the holiest ritual in our pack, a night when the goddess herself was said to bless fated mates. Beneath the glow of the Blood Moon, bonds would be sealed, power exchanged, and destinies entwined.

"You can look now," Jade, my closest friend and the pack’s healer, murmured with a soft smile as she stepped aside.

I turned to the mirror and gasped. The reflection staring back at me was mesmerizing. My silver hair, a mark of my bloodline, cascaded in perfect waves. My ceremonial gown, woven with moonlight silk, clung to my body like a second skin. The delicate rune markings along my arms pulsed faintly, reacting to my heightened emotions. They were ancient symbols of unity, and tonight, they would solidify my bond with Derek.

"It’s perfect," I whispered, swallowing back the emotion swelling in my throat.

Jade smiled, her amber eyes glinting. "You are perfect. This is your fate."

It sure felt like it.

The sacred clearing was glowing under the full moon, its silvery light reflecting off the ceremonial stones arranged in a perfect circle. The entire pack had gathered, their murmurs hushed in reverence. High Priestess Miren stood in the center, her midnight robes billowing as she raised a goblet filled with the sacred elixir—a blend of wolfsbane and crushed moonflower, meant to heighten the bond between mates.

A deep drumbeat echoed through the forest, signaling the start of the ritual. My heart pounded as I stepped forward, my bare feet pressing against the cool earth. The mating ceremony was more than a declaration of love; it was an ancient rite, binding our souls, our wolves, and our futures.

Derekwas supposed to meet me in the center of the circle.

We would drink from the goblet together, allowing the magic to flow through us, strengthening our bond. Then, under the watchful eyes of the moon, we would mark each other—a bite to the neck, the final step in the sacred ritual.

But as the High Priestess lifted her hands, signaling for my mate to join me…

Derek didn’t show up.

The first crack in my illusion came like a whisper of wind, chilling my skin.

"Where is he?" I asked, my voice trembling despite my best efforts to remain calm. My fingers twisted the fabric of my gown, dread curling deep inside me.

Jade’s brows furrowed. "He’s probably just handling last-minute preparations."

But as the minutes stretched into an agonizing eternity, a suffocating unease gripped my chest. The bond we shared should have led him to me. He should have felt my distress.

And yet, He was no where to be found and now the silence was deafening.

Murmurs rippled through the pack, confusion and concern lacing their voices. The High Priestess lowered her goblet, her piercing gaze scanning the crowd. A broken mating ceremony was unheard of. It was a dishonor not just to me but to the entire pack.

Needing air, I stepped away, telling Jade I needed a moment. As I moved toward the packhouse, I caught a scent—one that sent an icy chill down my spine.

Derek's scent.

But it was mixed with something else. Something wrong but even I wasn't sure what it was.

I followed the trail, my heartbeat hammering in my ears. The scent led me to the packhouse, to one of the private rooms. The door was slightly ajar, and from within, I heard it—low, guttural moans.

For a split second, I thought it was just a couple sneaking away from the ceremony. But as I pushed the door open, my world shattered.

Derek wasn’t alone.

But he wasn’t with a female, either.

In my entire life I haven't never seen anything like that.

I couldn’t move. I couldn’t breathe. My mate—the male who had sworn his love to me—was tangled in a passionate embrace with another wolf. A male.

The air was sucked from my lungs. My knees nearly gave out beneath me. This wasn’t real. This wasn’t happening.

Derek’s head snapped up, his golden eyes widening in horror. His hand was still gripping the other male’s waist, his lips parted in shock.

"Amara—" Xander stammered, scrambling away, but I didn’t give him a chance to explain.

"Why?" My voice was barely a whisper, my wolf howling in agony inside me. "Why would you do this?"

Derek opened his mouth, but no words came out. Instead, his lover—a young warrior from our pack—stepped back, face red with shame. Xander scrambled to adjust his robes, panic flashing across his face.

Everything inside me cracked.

Tears welled in my eyes as I turned and ran. My ceremonial gown trailed behind me, but I didn’t care. My chest felt like it was being ripped apart.

But the worst was yet to come.

I hadn’t even made it out of the packhouse when my communicator buzzed. My stomach clenched as I saw the flood of messages. My hands shook as I opened one.

A video.

A cold dread settled over me. I clicked play, and the breath was ripped from my lungs.

It was me.

A recording—explicit, intimate, violating—of me. One I had never agreed to, one I had never known existed. My heart pounded as realization crashed over me. Someone had recorded me without my knowledge. And now, the entire pack had seen it.

A fresh notification popped up.

Derek: I reject you, Amara. After this humiliation, I can never accept you as my mate.

A sharp pain shot through my chest. My wolf whimpered, clawing at the walls of my mind. The rejection severed the bond between us, leaving behind a hollow, aching void.

But before I could even process my heartbreak, another message appeared.

A text.

A message.

I warned you, Amara. This is just the beginning. My breath hitched as I saw the message and a shiver ran down my spine.

This wasn’t just about Derek's betrayal.

Someone had planned this. Someone who wanted to destroy me.

And whoever they were, they weren’t finished yet.

This was just the beginning.

Chapter 51: No longer AloneAmaraThe flames still crackled behind me, their heat licking at my raw, blistered skin, but I didn’t flinch. I wouldn’t give them the satisfaction. The Elders had bowed. The warriors had lowered their heads. The fire had accepted me. And yet, none of that mattered as much as the emptiness blooming in my chest. They had seen what they needed to see—a Luna forged in agony. But I wasn’t thinking about ceremony or power or acceptance. I was thinking about the searing pain pulsing through every nerve, the tremble I refused to let show, and the eyes I felt watching me from the shadows beyond the ceremonial circle.Xander.He was there before I even called for him.Strong arms wrapped around me, careful not to touch the scorched skin of my legs. His scent hit me—earth, cedar, storm. Familiar. Safe. He lifted me like I weighed nothing, as if I weren’t the woman who had just walked through fire to prove herself worthy. As if I were something fragile he couldn't bea

  • MATED TO THE ALPHA HEIR   The Fire Beneath the Crown

Chapter 50: The Fire Beneath the CrownAmara,The council chamber reeked of old smoke and older blood. It clung to the stone walls like a ghost of wars long past. A wide circle of jagged granite surrounded the sunken pit in the center—a relic from the days when Alphas fought with claw and fang beneath the moonlight, when titles were earned not by politics but by combat. Now, that pit bore no fresh blood. Only words were flung here, but make no mistake—the wounds cut just as deep.I stood alone on the upper platform, spine straight, shoulders squared, hands relaxed at my sides. Not clenched. Not trembling. Not submissive. Not afraid. They hadn’t expected me to come. I saw it in their eyes, felt it in the uneasy glances cast between their robes. They expected I would cower behind Xander’s title, let him speak for me, hide in the shadow of his power like some fragile decoration unworthy of the crown. They thought the Luna was still that broken girl—rejected, cast out, crawling through th

  • MATED TO THE ALPHA HEIR   The Weight of want

Chapter 49 Amara – The Weight of Want The moonlight poured through the high windows like a silent witness, casting ghostly patterns across the stone floor of the Luna’s chamber. Shadows shifted, long and reaching, echoing the unrest in my soul. The fire in the hearth remained unlit. I didn’t need it tonight. The cold had become a strange sort of comfort—a punishment, maybe. Or a reminder that the warmth I truly craved wasn’t something flames could offer. It came from him. From Xander. I stood at the window, fingers curled around the heavy velvet curtain, staring down at the empty training grounds. Hours ago, they were filled with the sounds of battle cries, steel meeting steel, the dull thud of fists against flesh. Now, silence reigned. But I still saw him there, moving like the storm that carved mountains, like a beast born from fury and discipline. Relentless. Unyielding. Terrifyingly beautiful. Alpha. And, by every contract inked in blood and ambition—mine. A chill c

  • MATED TO THE ALPHA HEIR   The Win

Chapter 48: The Win XANDER I waited in the far corner of the war room, where shadows stretched long beneath the ancient beams and the air still smelled of iron and ash. The others had long since left—Elders, warriors, advisors—all filing out after the meeting concluded. Now it was just me, the dying fire, and the heavy silence that seemed to press against my spine like a blade. I didn’t sit. I couldn't. My muscles were too tight, too wired. The wolf inside me stirred, restless, agitated by the storm I knew was coming. The creak of the door behind me sliced through the silence. I didn’t need to turn. I knew who it was. Derek. His scent reached me before his footsteps did—bitter, tense, tinged with the unmistakable undertone of regret. A scent I never thought I’d associate with my brother. He was the golden heir, the chosen one. Regret didn’t fit him—until now. He didn’t speak as he stepped fully into the room. The click of the door shutting echoed like a warning. Still

  • MATED TO THE ALPHA HEIR   The Defeat

Chapter 47: The DefeatDEREKThe weight of defeat was heavier than any wound I'd ever taken in battle—and the battlefield had never been kind to me. Scars ran across my skin like old stories, but none of them hurt like this.I paced the length of my room, each step landing hard on the cold marble floor. The space felt smaller than usual, suffocating, as if the walls themselves were ashamed to witness my humiliation. Every breath I took came out sharp, heavy, like I was choking on the air that had once belonged to a victor. My fists opened and closed at my sides, aching for release—anything to take the edge off the frustration building beneath my skin like wildfire. But nothing helped. Nothing could fix what had happened out there. Nothing could undo the moment I looked into her eyes and knew—I’d lost.Amara.The woman fate gave me and I turned away.My fated mate.My mistake. My downfall. She hadn’t just bested me in combat. She’d dismantled the very image I’d spent years building: D

  • MATED TO THE ALPHA HEIR   The taste of victory

Chapter 46: The Taste of VictoryAmara – Crescent Moon Pack, Hall of TriumphThe echo of the crowd still thundered in my ears long after I stepped out of the arena. The stone walls of the Hall of Triumph caught and amplified the remnants of their cheers, twisting them into something almost sacred. I walked with purpose, my chin held high, the dust of the battlefield still clinging to my skin. Every step felt like a reclamation of power—my power. And for the first time in a long time, I didn’t feel like a survivor.I felt like a victor.I had faced the council. I had faced Derek. I had faced the ghosts of every moment I had been silenced, doubted, belittled—and I had conquered them. The weight of centuries of tradition hadn’t crushed me. I had broken it beneath my feet.Xander was at my side, his gaze proud and unwavering. He hadn’t said much since we left the arena, but his silence spoke volumes. His presence alone was grounding. The way he looked at me—it wasn’t just admiration. It w

  • MATED TO THE ALPHA HEIR   The Plot Continues

Chapter 45:The Plot Continues Luna Susanne, The flicker of torchlight cast long shadows across the cold stone walls of the Council chamber as I made my way toward the exit. My footsteps echoed in the otherwise quiet hall, the sound reminding me of how alone I truly was in this. Alone, but not powerless. The Council was still buzzing in the aftermath of the challenge. Amara had won, but it hadn’t been a fair fight. It hadn’t been a fight at all. She had used her cunning, her manipulation, to bend the rules in her favor. And now, she was basking in her hollow victory, thinking she had secured her place at the top. She couldn’t be more wrong. Outside, the moon hung high, casting its pale glow over the land. The night felt strangely quiet, as if the pack itself was holding its breath. I could almost feel Amara’s presence from here, the pull of her ill-gotten power—but it didn’t intimidate me. In fact, the longer I thought about it, the more her rise felt like the beginning of the e

  • MATED TO THE ALPHA HEIR   Plot to take over

Chapter 44: Plot to Take overLuna Sunnane – Crescent Moon Pack, Council ChamberThe room was cold, the shadows stretching longer as the sun dipped below the horizon. The large oak table at the center of the council chamber was darkened with the weight of the decisions that had been made within its walls. The tension in the air was thick, like the scent of blood after a battle. I leaned against the stone wall, my arms crossed over my chest, glaring at the scene before me. The voices of the elders, once full of reverence and power, now felt like an incessant hum in my ears.Amara had done it. She had won. And it had been a disaster. A complete mockery of everything we’d worked for, everything we’d sacrificed to keep the pack under control. She had no right. No rightful place. She was nothing but a rogue with a death wish, and yet the pack had let her seize the one thing that had always been ours—power. The Council had spoken, but they had been weak. They had caved under the pressure of

  • MATED TO THE ALPHA HEIR   Reign of Ashes

Chapter 42: Reign of Ashes Xander, The clash of steel against steel echoed through the arena, reverberating against the stone walls, each strike a testament to the raw fury that both Amara and Derek poured into the battle. The arena had become their battleground, the place where destinies were rewritten, and every movement mattered. The air was thick with tension, crackling with the force of their struggle, as the crowd held its collective breath, waiting for the inevitable conclusion. Amara moved with an effortless grace, her body flowing like liquid as she evaded Derek’s strikes. Every movement was a calculated maneuver, every step a part of a larger strategy. Her eyes never left Derek’s, a fire burning behind them that spoke of her unwavering determination. She wasn’t just fighting for her life—she was fighting for something far greater, something more intangible but no less vital. She was fighting for her freedom. Derek, for all his arrogance, was not a fool. He knew what was
