Matilda was retreating backwards, she hit her feet against a recycle bin and fell on her back. She held out her hands.

“Don't come near me, stay away from me!”

The man with the dirty clothes, bushy hair and marks all over his body began to approach Matilda slowly.

“No miss, I'm not going to hurt you. I just wanted to…I wanted to ask if you could give me anything to eat”.

The old man demonstrated putting food in his mouth, with a sad face. He looked so lean and tired.

Matilda got up and cleaned her body, she looked at the old man and felt pity for him.

“I'm so sorry sir, I shouldn't have lashed out that way. I'm sorry”.

“It's fine, miss, I understand”.

Matilda smiled at the man and he returned the smile, his golden yellow teeth were visible this time around.

“Let's go to the convenience store over there, sir”.
