Jane got back into the hospital and sat on the bench provided on the hallway. She tore the envelope open and brought out the single file in it. The file contained the contract and nothing more than that.
' Didn't he say everything I needed to know is in this envelope? This just contains only the man's name, his age, his field of study yet no picture. Oh, there are a few hobbies of his here. ' She thought inwardly. ' Name: Ryan Allen. Age: 30 years. Field of Study: Business Major. 'Was this the man she was to sign a contract with? She looked below the paper and saw the already written signature and validity of the contract. " Just two years? Not that long. ' She felt a little bit lifted but then she came down again.Getting married to a stranger wasn't her choice or plan. Jane was more or less the fairy tale type who believed in true love. A charming prince who would one day come to her and ask her hand in marriage even take her away to the fairy home just like Cinderella but now…now, all these dreams and hopes of hers were about to shatter because they were castles built in the sky. Right now, she was going to sign away her life, dreams and hopes to a man she had never met before. " I will have to do this for Bruno's sake. " She picked up the pen, felt reluctant for a few minutes before signing off her life to something she believed to be a bondage for two years.**********A Royce Rolls drove into a big company and parked in front of the main building. The staff immediately got the alert of the arrival of their boss and arranged themselves in a straight line with their heads bowed as a sign of respect.Bert opened the door for his boss and the mighty Allen came out with his confident manner. He strolled in with his men behind him. " Good morning, sir. " They greeted and Allen stopped walking. He glanced at every one of them with his cold face before walking away. " Get back to work. " Kyle ordered and they all scurried away. The staff knew how things worked, the boss would arrive in the morning with his poker face and not regard their greetings. He would go through their works and if he found any error, the person who made it was sacked. Despite the harsh treatment, none of them was willing to let go of the job because it had a good pay that was enough to build an apartment. The security system in the company and at home were handled by his men, Kyle, Xander, and Bert, known as the youngest of all. No one knew how they were related to the boss.Allen entered his office which was more like an apartment. This was because it was the biggest office in the company. It had a master bedroom, a kitchen and a secret room which led to various offices in the company that the staff were not aware of except Kyle and the brotherhood. He sat on the chair and rotated it before facing his men. " What are you two still doing here? " He asked. Bert looked at Xander first before gazing back at his boss. He smiled voluntarily and Allen furrowed his brows. He knew that Bert was always up to one mischievousness or the other so he wasn't surprised if he created any damage in the way. Xander would cover up for him. They were partners in crime…well, Bert being the leader of it all. " Why are you smiling? " He asked. " I am so happy for you, boss. " Bert cheered, he was clapping his hands like a little child. Allen stared at him blankly. " Mr. Paul informed me that he has found a wife for you. Happy Married Life. " He squealed.Xander almost spat on his friend, how could he have delivered the news that way?Kyle's eyes darted towards Allen and he chuckled when he saw his Friend's eyes turned grim. Allen was being pestered day and night by his grandmother to get married, he was given a deadline. If he could not bring any woman home as the person he was dating then he would have to give his signature on a contract then get married to whosoever his granny would choose for him.For years, Allen had already forgotten about it until recently, when everything just seemed to have bursts out of its hiding.Allen was less bothered about that and gave his granny his signature nonchalantly. " You can leave. " Allen ordered and the two men left except Kyle who made himself comfortable on the Sofa and stared at his friend who was now getting ready to bury himself in his work. " You are not going to say anything? " Kyle asked and Allen looked up from his desk. " What do you expect me to say? " He retorted. " So, you are just going to sit down and watch events unfold? You are going to get a woman living with you…with us. " " She is my grandma, I am not expected to go against her now, am I? " Allen asked. " Of course not. "There was silence but Allen knew that it wasn't over yet. "Are you going to allow a woman to live with us? " " Is that a crime? "Kyle chuckled and waved it off with his hand, " Of course not, you of all people know that it is surely not a crime nor a problem. " He said with an intended meaning underneath his words while Allen focused back on his work.Truly, he understood what Kyle was trying to say but right now…at this point, he could not afford to offend the Matriarch. He had no choice but to accept but he prayed that this choice wouldn't be the end of it all.Jane arrived at the address given to her alongside the contract the next morning. She was shocked at how big the building was and also how massive the security was. ' This must be a big house, no, a big house isn't the right word, mansion it is. ' She snapped her fingers. The security man on the post opened the gate after asking a lot of questions. She walked in still in shock at how rich these people were and she began to wonder if coming to this place was a mistake. She was a nobody and she felt like the odd one out and trash. She traced the lane and then ended right at the entrance of the mansion. The security man stationed at the entrance opened the door since they were already informed about her coming. " Good morning, I am here to meet Mister Paul. " She told the maid that she saw. " Right this way, ma'am. " The maid led her in and she was more than shocked, if there was any word to describe that feeling at that moment then it would have been great. The inside was beautifu
Jane was in a cab, her spirit was already lifted after discussing with Old Madam Ryan. The woman was nice to her and she was good as well. When she offered to help her pay the money, it was like a heavy burden was lifted off her shoulder. Ever since this problem started, it seemed the world abandoned her. If their parents were alive, then all these...all these problems would have been solved. It wasn't that her parents were wealthy but the burden would have lessened. " Ma'am, we have arrived. " The driver announced. " Thank you very much. " She paid her fare and quickly got out of the car, trying to fold the scarf tied loosely around her neck as she rushed into the hospital. The first person she saw fortunately was Joy and she called her earnestly. "Joy...Joy."Joy paused in her walk when she heard someone calling her as if the world was about to collapse. Jane got closer to her and pulled her along to the doctor's office, this made Joy very anxious about what was happening to the
Jane paced in front of the theatre anxiously. It had been nine hours since the surgery started and it was already nine pm. How long was this going to take? Forever? Well, no matter how long it took, she was ready to wait. Joy had already gone home because of her husband and children so she was the only one left to be restless. After waiting for what seemed to be eternity, she finally saw the surgeons walk out of the theatre with a tired look. She tried to prep but the door was closed again. One of the surgeons who saw her behavior stopped in front of her. " Calm down, Miss, everything is fine now because the surgery was successful but for now, you need to be patient so they can finish cleaning him up. " It felt like a huge burden was finally lifted off her shoulders. She smiled happily at the man who nodded and left so he could go and rest. " Yes. It's finally over. " She would not feel any desperation any longer, she was going to be happy for the rest of her days, so she thought.
Allen drove into Old Madam Ryan's mansion and parked his car. He got out of it with a normal look and turned around. He always had a warm face whenever he came to visit. The men he assigned to watch over every human and thing in the mansion ran over to meet him. They bowed slightly. " Welcome, young master. " The man who was the leader greeted. " Hmm. Any problem? " He asked. " No sir, everything is fine and the movement of Old Madam is in limit now. " The man responded and Allen nodded. " Good. Dismiss. " Allen ordered and they bowed slightly before leaving. Allen walked into the mansion and surveyed the surrounding. The maids all assembled themselves before him with slight fear in them. Allen looked at the women, his eyes searching for one person in particular. " Where is Mama Coco? '' He asked. " She is with Madam, Young Master. " They replied in unison and he left. As he walked past the visitor's sitting room, his eyes snapped toward the area and he looked at it for
The ray of sunlight that pierced through the light curtains in the room woke Jane from her sleep. She rubbed her eyes and yawned. She looked around and her eyes fell on her brother who had woken up. She smiled at him. " Hey Bruno, how was your night? " She asked while he only gave a sign of replying by blinking his eyes like he always did and she was used to knowing that sign. " That's good. Very soon you will be back on your feet and you will start talking. I am so happy for you, Bruno." Jane's stare was sincere. Bruno looked at his sister with utmost joy in his heart because she wasn't crying or smiling bitterly as she would in the past but where could she have found such a huge amount of money? This served as a mystery to him and he hoped that she had not done something stupid that could ruin both of their lives, mostly hers. " I will go home and prepare beef soup for you. It will have all the appropriate nutrients that will help you recover rapidly, okay? " In the middle o
Allen arrived at his office and his appearance was just the normal way of how things were being run in the company. He was going through one of the files on his table as usual with Kyle on the sofa watching a soccer match. He was deeply engrossed in it and couldn't hide his excitement whenever his favourite team won. The office was soundproof luckily so Allen was faced with no other choice but to go for the last option...pretend to be deaf by putting on the bluetooth device. A female secretary knocked, despite the music blasting through the earpiece and the soccer going on, the two men could still hear the knock. At a moment, Kyle cheerful look turned cold while Allen's remained expressionless. " Come in. " He ordered. The secretary dressed in a tight fitted skirt and a top walked in swaying her hips effortlessly. Kyle didn't spare a glance at her as his eyes were still glued to the screen. The secretary frowned a little because she had dressed this way to impress and seduce the
Allen's car halted in front of an abandoned building and he looked at his left-hand side as if searching for a human's movement. The breeze blew softly against his cold skin as he got out of the car. It was late in the evening already. He pressed the Bluetooth device in his ear to receive the incoming call. " I just arrived and I am about to go in. " He said and the caller ended the conversation.Allen walked towards the building and opened the door. He entered, and his feet made a loud sound on the broken glasses on the ground. He looked around the room which appeared to be the sitting room scrutinizing each detail he could find. He brought out his phone and dialed Xander's number. " Yes, Allen. " " I am in the sitting room right now. " Allen said. " Okay. Find the basement, I believe that he must be there. " " How sure are you that it is the basement? " Allen asked silently. " The basement is a place of an evil hideout, Allen. " Xander replied and ended the call. The weak wood
Kyle did not say a word until they arrived at Allen's mansion. If Old Madam Ryan's mansion was big then this mansion was super huge than anything she could have ever imagined. Though she wasn't the religious type, she also heard that if you build a whole building on this Earth, you can only sleep in a room designed only for you. Her mysterious husband's status must be high.Kyle peeped at the rearview mirror for the second time, the look of admiration that Jane had on her face was pleasing to see. He did a roundabout following the area of a garden filled with different types of flowers before he parked the car in an allocated area, the garage. He quickly got out of the car but before he could rush over to open the door like he closed it earlier, Jane had already gotten out of it. " Whoa. "She wondered that maybe going for the contract wasn't really bad. Since it was dark already, she could hardly see the exterior designs in the compound but she assured herself that tomorrow was goin
