WISHFUL THINKING

"CRISTEN connecting to Cassandra, hello? Is there anybody here with me? Hey, Black Forest to my cousin, what's up?"

Cassandra was astounded when she heard Cristen's firm voice accompanied by flicks of fingers in front of her face. She is the youngest daughter of his Uncle Matte; her mother's older brother. They were of the same age and she was barely a few months older than her. The eldest is Jairo; the current crown prince of Metrofangs—the vampire's kingdom, and the second is Crystal.

"Are you saying something?" Cassandra absentmindedly queried as she took a glance at her cousin.

She was too busy thinking about Anton while silently hoping that he and his leech girlfriend would split up. However, she never really wished that to happen for she's not unscrupulous. She never desired of someone's mischief. Regardless, her personal viewpoint of Anton and Nancy would not change.  Cassandra felt like the woman was hiding something evil even when she was smiling.

The thought made Cassandra frown.  Momentarily, she secretly hoped that the two would separate as soon as possible. Knowing Anton, no woman dated him for too long. They have an expiration.

The frown on Cassandra's forehead suddenly replaced with a grin. Well, why is she upsetting herself with that thought? Of course, they will soon split up.

"You are insane, Cass! One moment, you're stunned. Then next minute, you are frowning, and then you suddenly smile. Are you okay? Wait," Cristen mumbled who seemed to be confused and dubious about what she was seeing with Cassandra. From crouching on her bed she plopped down and yelled. "Liam, Cloud, Sky, I think Cassandra needs a psychiatrist!" she shouted, her voice boomed not only to the four corners of her room but the whole mansion.

She wouldn't be surprised if the twin would suddenly appear in her room any moment. Fortunately, Liam was not around. He left together with their father to attend the monthly annual meeting of the Shadow and Shield United, an alliance between hunters and werewolves.

Shortly, as she anticipated, the door of her room burst open. Sky peeked inside, half-naked and leaves were hanging on his hair. Their mother ordered the twin to cut some bougainvillea branches that had reached the terrace on the second floor of the mansion. Behind him was Cloud who, just like his twin had leaves in his hair also. Concern was written on the faces of the two.

Cassandra snorted at Cristen who simply shrugged her shoulders as a response. She sometimes wanted to hang her cousin upside down and let the burning sun dry her outside.

"What happened?" Sky forthwith queried as he approached them.

Cassandra's eyes widened in a flash and before Sky could barge into her room, she quickly got up from her bed and clamored, "Stop right there, brother!"

Sky stopped in his tracks and looked at his sister in confusion. There was a look of astonishment on his face. Cassandra ignored him and turned her attention to Cloud who was also about to enter her room.

"You too, Cloud! Both of you, stop!"

The twins looked at each other. They were both wearing an expression of stupefaction on their faces before they looked back at her strangely.

Cassandra rolled her eyes and lazily stood up to approach the two. "Finish what Mommy is asking you to do first. I'm fine. It's just Cristen," she said to the two before she glared at Cristen who only responded with an annoying grin.

"Are you sure? But Cristen said tha—"

"I'm okay, Cloud. Promise!" Cassandra cut off her brother's words before grabbing the two by the arm and pulled them out of her room. "Just go ahead and do your thing," she added up with a slightly wrinkled face.

"But—"

"Cristen was just fooling you both. Go! Go back to what you're doing before Mommy catches the two of you hasn't finished what she's telling you to do yet," she countered to what Sky was about to say who was still so hesitant to leave.

Cassandra's cousin; Cristen giggled as she got up from lying on her bed. "I was just joking, couz," she said with a strange smile on her lips, her upturned eyes were twinkling in delight. "Don't worry if Cassandra goes crazy, I'll take care of her. I'm just gonna shake her head upside-down to lose some screw in her brain," she continued while laughing her ass out at her two brothers.

"Stop it, you crazy vampire, if you don't want me to tie you up and expose you to the sun." she squealed, a devilish smirk formed from the corner of her lips before turning her attention back to her two older brothers who seemed to be planning to join with Cristen's teasing her. "C'mon, boys. Shooo! " she ordered as she annoyingly pushed them away. Cassandra hastily closed the door before the two could even utter a word.

When she was sure that the twins were no longer outside of her room, she immediately confronted Cristen who was at the moment fiddling with her long nails.

"You're really crazy," she exclaimed while frowning.

"You better stop thinking too much about Uncle Anton, Cass because he is surely busy flirting with his new girlfriend. Ouchy!" Cristen grinned and said while busy scratching her nails.

Cassandra furrowed her brows because of what Cristen said. Her cousin had known for a long time that she likes Anton. She wasn't hiding anything from her. Cristen is not just her cousin but also her best friend.

"Oh, yeah?" she replied pretending to think. "I also heard from Ziggler yesterday that Aidan went to see Briana. He allegedly went with her to the mall to buy new clothes," Cassandra retorted with a chuckle. In a blink, she saw Cristen's face turn sour upon hearing what she said.

Briana is Ziggler's cousin who is being courted by Aidan. Cristen hated the woman not only because she liked Aidan but because of her dissolute attitude.

"You don't have to tell me, Cassandra!" Cristen squealed in her bitterly while snorting.

"I was just thinking that you might want to hear about-"

"Don't, Cassandra! It doesn't matter. Don't mention the name of that hag in front of me. She's freakin' pissing the hell out of me so stop right there, my beautiful cousin."

Cassandra laughed a little even more when she saw that Cristen's face was as red as a tomato because of annoyance. And her fangs also appeared.

"If you don't want me to mention Briana, then stop teasing me either." Cassandra draw a smirk as she once again saw Cristen's reaction.

"Shut up, Cassandra!" she growled.

Cassandra closed her mouth and snorted.

Cassandra was honestly hurt by what Cristen said. Anton may be with Nancy at that time however, as much as possible, she did not want to think about them. She preferred to think that they would eventually split up. And if given a chance, she was still hoping that one day, she would have a chance to get close to Anton. Not as a younger sister like what he often told her but as the other half of his heart.

'A wishful thinking, yeah.'
