I noticed Emma scolding Danny so I decided to step in.

“Is everything alright?” I interrupted and both children stumbled back at my sudden appearance. Emma quickly shuffled behind her brother in fear.

I held out my hand. “Hey it’s okay, I’m not here to hurt you.”

They both stood away from me, scared expressions on their faces. This is probably how I looked when they attempted to kill me, I thought, part of me still annoyed at our first encounter. Oh, for goodness, sake Aria, they’re bloody kids.

“Are you angry at us?” Danny asked, his voice quiet and barely audible.

I shook my head. “Of course not, but what you guys did was not very nice. It’s not a good thing going around trying to kill people.”

Danny’s eyes began to tear up and I looked around worried that people would suddenly think I was bullying the children.

I knelt down in front of them and gently put a hand on his shoulder. “But I’ll forgive you this time, as long as you promise never to do it again.”

Both of them frantically

Once again I was reminded why not having mindlinking abilities were a problem, as I stumbled down the stairs, heading to the pack dining area.I passed through the kitchen, practically running into Cassie who was tidying up."Woah there!" she exclaimed as she steadied me when I rushed past her. She looked over me with wary eyes. "What's the rush?" she asked."Where's Sven - no actually have you seen his kids, Danny and Emma?" I was rushing the words out, my eyes frantically looking around.Cassie shakes her head in reply. "No, I'm pretty sure Sven is with the pack warriors," she says."But I don't know where his kids are," she adds after.I sigh. "Okay fine, go to Jayden and tell him that it's an emergency. I think the hunters are back.I need you to do that for me please," I tell her, not bothering to say anything more before rushing through the doors to the training grounds. There was no one around and I realised something frightening. The training had ended an hour ago, meaning mos

"What was it about?" Zac inquires, his voice calm yet stern, almost giving me no other option other than to tell him everything."I was here," I gestured my hand around the training grounds we are standing in, "and I woke up and I was covered in blood and around me were dead bodies and... and Aiden was there too."I gasp, my chest tightening as tears prick my eyes. "...and he was dead!"Zac wraps his arms around me when I crumple to the floor. He holds me gently and tries to soothe me with his kind words but I can hardly hear them over my sobbing."It was just a dream," he tries to reassure me, but I shake my head violently."No- No it wasn't. I could see it, I could see every single detail. It felt so real." My tears soak into the material of his shirt but he seems the least bothered about it.He actually seemed more bothered about what I had just said."It seemed real?" he questioned and despite my tears, I picked up on the worry etched in his face. I found it difficult to speak so

My eyes fluttered open when I felt the shock of icy cold wind around me. I had to blink a few times before I could see clearly and when I did, I screamed, the noise echoing painfully through the silent air.I was no longer in the comfort of Aiden’s warm bed, but instead sprawled out on the fields outside the packhouse, drenched in blood. I was so shocked at the sight of the red liquid that had soaked my clothes and covered my hands that it took me a few moments to look around and when I did, I screamed again. All around me was destruction and chaos. Dead bodies littered around me, the forest and the pack house were up in flames, the ground where dead bodies didn't cover were charred and ashy. Not a sign of life was to be seen, except for the crows squawking, circling the grey sky above.I trembled with wide eyes and pulled myself up, standing, shaking like a leaf in the cold wind.My eyes darted around my surroundings taking in the desolation around me. Everything was dark and the sce

"Zacchary-" I growl and he stops in his tracks,"Tell me."The man lets out a deep sigh, but he doesn't turn to face me. His body stiffens as he opens his mouth to speak."Zelda-" he starts and I remember how the first time I met Zacchary he had called me by that name."Zelda is her name." I can tell that this is a difficult topic for him by the way his voice wavers as he says her name. "She comes from the bloodline of the original witches from the Coven of Lartsa. They were the most powerful witches in history, but the most powerful of them all was Zelda"I listen carefully and my eyes trail down to Zacs’ clenched fists."She was so powerful and undefeated and yet she was crazy." Zac finally turns to me and there is a fire in his eyes as he speaks."She was so crazy for power that it turned her evil. She killed every member of the coven believing this crazy idea that by killing them she would get their magic."He sighs. "It wasn't true of course. All she ended up doing was killing he

"You could have killed yourself and him.""I was trying to save him," I finally said, looking back at Zac, flinching slightly under his furious and cold gaze."And if I hadn't recognised the use of magic in the house and hadn't got to you in time, what do you think would have happened?"I looked away, feeling like a scolded child.A moment passed in silence as I continued to watch the steady rise and fall of Aiden’s chest.Despite how much I wanted to run over to his side and hold his hand in mine, I feared that once again I might lose control of my magic."Where did you learn to chant like that?"Zac’s cold voice brought me back but I refused to look at him."I don't know," I said. "It just came to me.""That's impossible!" he snapped and the anger in his voice made me twirl around to face him.His eyes were dark and he raised a finger to point at me accusingly."There is only one witch that knows how to cast such powerful black magic and no one has seen her for years.”“Black magic?

I pulled my hands away and ended my chanting, believing that the flow of magic would end - but it didn't.I tried once more, pushing aside Zac’s anxious voice, but the energy was still leaving me rapidly and I couldn't control it anymore. I tried another chant, hoping that would do the trick, but instead of stopping the golden force it seemed to make it stronger and my legs buckled from underneath me.I was struggling to breathe now as more and more of my life source left my body. My body flitted against the floor, my eyes opened wide in fear and shock, and yet the magic seemed to continue.Zac appeared beside me quickly, stretching his hands over me. His eyes were now shining in pure silver, none of its usual brown shade to be seen. He started to say ancient words and a blue light shone from his hands and surrounded me.However despite Zacs’ magic, the golden energy continued to leave my body and a sudden sense of impending doom surrounded me.This was it. This was the end.And then
