ALPHA, BETA, GAMMA

DAMON’S POV

New day, new responsibilities, three species to keep tabs on, three whole nations to keep in check. I’m bored honestly. For three years everything has gone my way. For three years no one has dared defied me. For three years I have ruled successfully over three nations. I need some action. Oh I need someone to dare me.

This calm and quiet has been going on for too long. The humans and vampires made it a bit too easy. I barely lost any pack members during the war. Well, I shouldn’t be complaining. This is what I wanted and I got it. I’m the most powerful man in the world.

Morgana woke up pretty early today. She fixed my bath, cleaned my room and brought me breakfast already. Even if I wanted to make her life miserable for a while, I can’t. She’s being a good pet. Bummer. I would’ve loved to push her around a little. Just for the fun of it.

Now she’s just sitting in her cage. I’ve felt her staring at me for a while. I turn my gaze towards her and she quickly lowers her head.

“Good morning master.” She says from her cage as I lift myself from my bed heading towards the shower. I nod my head at her in response. She’s still staring, boring holes at my back as I escape into the bathroom.

I have a meeting with my brothers, the Beta and Gamma today. We need to talk about the progress of our rule and the fact that there has been a drastic decrease in the human population.

This decrease affects the vampires as the blood supply is low and I’d rather die than feed my people’s blood to those spawns of Satan. Human blood is all we got so we really need to find a way for them to multiply. We need the vampires.

After I’m done with my bath I eat breakfast and leave Morgana alone in the room as I head to the meeting room.

“You’re late Damon.” Ryder, the gamma says from his seat opposite Colton who is presently shooting bullets into my skull, no doubt still pissed off about what happened. I don’t know what he wants from me.

“He was probably busy taking orders from his pet.” Colton scoffs angrily.

Ryder chuckles at Colton’s statement. “Can you two children stop with the bickering already? We have more important things to talk about.” He says.

“I’m not the one slowing us down. Colton is, because he can’t take criticism.” I say playfully at Colton just to work him up some more.

“At least I don’t take orders from humans and…”

“Enough already.” Ryder interrupts Colton. “Let’s just start okay?” Colton rolls his eyes at Ryder. He’s such a baby OMG.

Ryder has always been the calmest of us three, which is probably why he was mom’s favorite when she was still alive. Ryder was reasonable, soft-spoken, and he always obeyed mother. I however was more of a Papa’s boy. Probably because I was the eldest and it was essential that I bond with him. I became more like him and Ryder more like mother.

Colton was always just sort of in the middle. He is impossible to reason with and the most stubborn of us three. But the most annoying thing about him is he doesn’t know how to admit that he is wrong. Pride will be the death of him I swear.

“Okay. Let’s get this over and done with.” I take my place on the front seat facing my two brothers. I called this meeting to talk about the blood situation.

“Ryder you’re in charge of the scientist. Colton, you’re in charge of keeping an eye on the vampires. I’m in charge of the war and the humans. I’ll go first, then you, Colton and Ryder you’ll go last.” I state putting on a serious expression on my face as we get to business.

You might think we need other people to be in this meeting with us, like advisers and right hands but when the werewolves took over the vampires, the three of us decided to always hold meetings with just us three. With the current situation we can’t trust anyone. This was actually Colton’s idea. At least one thing he’s right about.

“The humans are dying, exponentially. We don’t have many left. We need to do something, make them healthier. We’re already feeding their blood to the vampires. They need to be put in better living situations, they need to be given more food. Now I’m not saying we should just let them roam freely. They’re still our slaves but if we treat them a little bit better, maybe they won’t die so much. So I’m making public a new rule as from tomorrow midday.” I raise a piece of paper I brought with me and start reading.

“All human slaves must be fed thrice a day instead of once and that includes pets and the slaves at the slavery organization. All slaves must be provided with thick blankets and if possible beds to sleep on.” I notice Colton’s eyes widen at my second rule but I just ignore him.

“No slave is to be whipped, ever again. If any master is caught punishing a slave, for insignificant reasons they will be dealt with. All slaves must bathe regularly. Please, this last rule is very important. That is all.”

I drop my paper to the table. Ryder smiles at me and nods his head.

“This is what we should have done a long time ago. The humans have never been our enemies.” Ryder says from his seat. He has always been against taking the humans as slaves. He even refused to keep a pet.

“I’m not even going to say anything.” Colton mummers from his seat. I’m glad he isn’t objecting.

“Great. If there aren’t any objections then please enlighten us Colton.” I say to him with a teasing tone.

“Vampires can’t die unless we cut their heads off. That fact remains the same. We haven’t lost any vampires to death. We've only lost those who have escaped. However, it’s been a year since a vampire escaped our nation since we reinforced our guarding systems. The blood we collect from them presently is too small to fuel our serum. They’re weaker because of the human blood shortage.” He leans forward in his seat.

“There have been rumors Damon. Gossip says the vampire lord isn’t dead. They say he still lives. Feeding off of animal blood to build his strength. They say he’s preparing his revenge. He’s creating an army with the few vampires that escaped and the ones we didn’t get during the war. We need to verify this information.”

“I cut off his head myself Colton. I watched him die.” I say.

“But what if he didn’t? What if it’s true?” He insists.

“If this is true and we have no idea where this vampire lord hides. Then we need to produce more serum. If there’s another war coming, we need it fast so we can strike before them. We may be strong but without the serum, we’re no match for them.” I state and they both nod their heads at me.

“You’re next Ryder.” Colton says.

“The scientist says he needs more vampire blood. The amount we gave him isn’t enough to produce more serum.” Ryder says.

“Or maybe he’s stalling because he’s tired of doing what we ask him to.” I say.

“Why don’t we just kill him and find someone else?” Colton says being unreasonable again.

“We can’t kill him you idiot. He’s the only one who knows the formula and he’s not dumb enough to tell anyone else.” I say to Colton.

“Fine. Whatever.” Ryder and I roll our eyes at him. What the hell is wrong with him?

“I’ll talk to the scientist.” I say getting up from my chair. “This meeting is over.”
