Chapter 3

Liam was made to sit on a chair. His hands tied behind his back and duct tape was used to cover his mouth.

He was awaken by the water that was poured on him by an assailant, as he has been instructed to by Lukman.

He stared lost with his hazy eyes.

He watched to see that he had been bound to the chair, and his legs were bleeding as he appeared to have been hit mercilessly by then while he was unconscious.

He looked at his daughter who has also regained her consciousness but her mouth was taped as well and so she could do nothing but watch and cry as she watched her father bleed.

"Look, I have nothing against you not your family.... Lukman began coming closer to where Liam sat.

"You're still young and so I do not expect you to understand all that I am saying" he continues

"But then you'd family needs to be ended this night. Your wife died and is resting in the great oceans of the above. I could have let you and your daughter live but then, she happened to see everything happen and because of that, I can't let any of you live. Words mustn't get out about what happened in the Montenegro Mansion tonight. The governor Instructed me to kill all the other maids as well because no body must know what happened. The governor can't risk being in the tabloids because of the death of a mere maid "

Liam stared angrily clenching his fists as he heard Lukman say trash.

Lukman seeing him clench his fists even though his hands were tied slapt him, and reminded him how being poor was the cause of his predicament.

If only he were rich, the Governor wouldn't be able to cover up what had happened nor the atrocity his daughter had committed against them.

He went on to tell him to come back richer in his second life , so he wouldn't be treated this way again.

Leaving, he turned back, "You have twenty minutes to say your last words to your creator", he muttered and left to join his fellows who were drinking and smoking by the side of the balcony.

It took a while for them to be reunited like this. The Governor had always made it known to him that he was not allowed to bring aby friends or members of his gang by to avoid being investigated, nor accused of being his dog since he had been seen countlessly driving him wherever he went.

Liam stared at his daughter who stared at him too. Both sad.

She did not deserve this, be thought. She was just Eight. She did not deserve it. A part of him blamed himself. He did not believe her when she had told him to call the authorities. Had he done that when she suggested, perhaps they wouldn't have been kidnapped.

She was still a little girl to behold her mother being killed and her father being tortured right before her eyes.

Tears scrolled freely down his eyes.

Morgana watched her father as her father shed tears in front of her.

From her muffled tears, she heard a noise behind her.

She saw Harrison, trying to untie her hands with a razor he held.

She followed him as he led her to a corner.

He knew all the directions of the basement. It was his grandfather's punishment arena. He locked his father or aunt up in the basement for days depending on which one of them have him troubles, and he did not bother to give any of them food no matter how many days he locked them.

He had always being the one opening the doors of the basement from the outside for them, anytime they got locked.

Morgana followed him out, hands untied by now but the tape was still he on her mouth.

She hoped that he would take her out and they'd both plan how to come and save her father. He was her only friend in the mansion anyway. And he was ten too. He would help her, she believed.

As they reached outside the basement and as Morgana noticed that he was leading her into the passage from the basement that led into the house, she stopped.

"Where are we going to? Are we not going to save my father as well?" She asked as she removed the duct tape that was over her mouth.

But Harrison did not reply her, instead be pretended not to hear and kept on running with her down the passage.

She made him let go off her hands and asked him her question again.

"Won't we save my father too, Harrison?" Sha asked again.

"No!!" He retorted.

" I am not saving him and I won't be saving him. Lukman will kill him because he would report my aunt to the police if he is not killed, just run through this passage. You'd get to the gate and you'd sneak out through the door while no one is watching. Don't come back"

Morgana was taken aback.

" But your aunty killed my own mother, why should my father be killed as well? He did nothing wrong"

" My aunty cannot be arrested by the police, she is the daughter of the governor, your father is a nobody. My father has told you that too. You people are nobodies, why should my aunty, the daughter of the governor her arrested because of nobodies?"

"Your aunty's car killed my mother. You saw it too Harrison, did you not? Why should she not be arrested?"

" I saw nothing Morgana, I saw nothing! Run while you still have the chance to. Lukman will soon be looking for you"

"But my father is still back there. Don't lock the door, i will run outside and call for help. I will tell someone what happened, please don't lock the door"

She begged , preparing to run out .

Harrison dragged her back." I did not help you so that you will call people that would call the police to arrest my aunty Genevieve, Morgana. Come back, I will take you back to the basement and apologize to Lukman for freeing you. My aunty can't go to jail. It is an ugly place" he said shakingly, trying to drag Morgana down the passage they had come out from.

"You are my friend Harrison, I am your friend too. Why are you doing this to me?" She asked him as he kept on dragging her.

"My Aunt Genevieve can't go to jail because of you. Besides, you were never my friend. My father said that i should never be friends with poor people. I only played catch with you because you and your mother were my maids" he said and continued dragging her.

Morgana noticing that he wanted to take her back to the basement, pushed his hands away but he pushed her to the floor and began to drag her by the arm again.

She got close enough to him and gave him a bite on his chest.

He let out a painful scream clutching his chest which has started bleeding.

Morgana took the opportunity to run out of the passage.

Harrison's scream had attracted Lukman and one of his gang never who had been looking for Morgana after they discovered she had escaped.

Coming to where he was, he told them where Morgana had followed, seeing the bite she had given him as a betrayal.

Lukman came out of the passage way searching for Morgana but could not find her.

They searched the back of the flower garden but she was no where to be found.

Figuring out he might be wasting time if she had escaped, he went back in to the basement and the next thing Morgana, who hid under a car could hear were screams.

She held on tightly to her mouth again like she had done before when she heard footsteps passing.

She saw blood dropping.

Moving her head a little forward, she saw Lukman carrying a sack with blood gushing out from it.

She needed no one to tell her what he was carrying in the sack.

Holding her mouth as much as she could, hot tears rolled down her eyes.
