ARIA
Glaring into my eyes, he fixes his hoodie, covering his shimmering blonde hair. The dim light in the corridor sharpens his features, especially his jawline, sharp as a blade. The white shirt on his chest is loosened on the bottom edge while his muscles are coming forth against the fabric, flexing his broad shoulders. He is so tall that I am covered in his shadow. There's a tense look shrouding his face which clearly states he's not friendly. The school is crowded with rumors about him. Jay Manchester is never in class, always fooling around on the terrace with his gang of five members who are like his minions. He made the gang to make things difficult for the disciplinary committee because of his bad blood with Rizz Sylvester. I heard they used to be good friends but then something happened between them. No one in the academy knows about it. Now, they're good friends turned into sworn enemies. While Rizz runs the academy with discipline, Jay bullies the students. He is rebellious and involved in all sorts of illegal excitements. Just because his father is close to Lozark Aylestone, no one can touch the hair on his head. He has the upper hand. “S-Sorry.” My lips take the initiative to apologize. “Move out of the way!” He slightly shoves me to the side with a single touch of his palm on my shoulder. His voice is deep, lacking politeness. I am already pissed, and now his attitude!!! Before stepping into the room, he glances at me again, so cold, and so fierce. I can feel an unspoken tension revolving around us. *Why is he looking at me like that?* He slowly turns his head to the door and enters the room, slamming it behind his broad back, startling me. I sigh, leaving the dim corridor. Rage is piling up inside me, and I am not good at holding it back. If Victor finds out about the restroom incident, he'll lose his damn mind. Hale used to call me a ticking bomb, always ready to fight, stubborn, a sharp tongue, and short temper. It's getting hard for me to hide these qualities. The rest of the day, I attend all my classes, observing each and every male student, and taking notes on them. In my last class, Ezek sits next to me. “I heard what happened.” “Rizz Sylvester put me on swimming pool duty for a whole month.” “You’re lucky it's better than the other punishments!” He sighs. My brows furrow. “Last summer, he put a student on shoe cleaning duties.” “What?” I am taken aback. He nods his head, fixing his glasses. “Ezek…Tell me what is Rizz Sylvester’s background?” “He is Lozark Aylestone’s sister's son. Though his father died in the war with hunters, he lives with his mother in Lozark Aylestone's private mansion.” “Who was his father?” “Have you been living under a rock? How could you not know the gossip of our pack?” “Ehm…I have been sick in bed since childhood in the orphanage. Gossip never really reached me, so please bear with my curiosity.” “Okay! Okay!” He moves his lips closer. “Nicloir Sylvester, Rizz’s father, was our Alpha until he died in the war when Rizz was ten. After his death, Lozark Aylestone took over the throne because Rizz was too young to lead our pack, and everything changed.” “Rizz lost his position forever. Now, Lozark’s son will inherit the throne.” “Do you know anything about Lozark's son?” He shrugs his shoulders. Well, I got enough information. *Jay and Rizz have solid background information. They are the closest link to the Alpha's son.* As the night comes, I am the only one left in the quiet swimming pool. After almost spending an hour cleaning it, my body dives into a warm shower in the washroom next to the pool. Stepping out, a shadow lingering on the wall draws my attention. *Who could it be?* My feet slowly take steps toward the wall, a gloomy feeling following me. “Who's there?” No response but the shadow is still on the wall. The moment I reach the wall, a strong force wraps me around and pins me aggressively against the wall. “Jerek?” My eyes widen. He's back for revenge if I'm not wrong. “You think you can slap me in front of others and get away with it?” He cups my cheek, pressing his chest on mine. In a flash, his nails curl into claws and rip off my top from the right shoulder. I don't panic, trying to reach the dagger tucked behind my waist, but his wolf’s strength is almost making it impossible for me. A jostle of strength stirs between us. The more fiercely I'm struggling against his strength, the tighter he's gripping me. Even as a hunter, it's hard for me to beat a wolf's strength without a weapon. “You can't escape me tonight!” His devilish voice brushes through my ear. Since I have been using my legs fighting him too much, he blocks them with his thighs and ceases my hands behind my waist. My bracelet makes a soft creak sound as if it's about to break. “GET OFF ME!” He keeps charging himself on me, sniffing my neck, forcibly trying to steal a kiss. Despite his strength, I somehow reach the handle of the dagger tucked beneath my shirt and pull it out while blocking his lips from touching me. He reveals his fangs, moving them closer to my neck with the intent of grasping my skin. Inhaling a breath, I poke the tip of the dagger into the skin of his palm, brutally enough for him to unleash a scream and step back. “You bitch!” He curses under his breath. I turn to him clenching the handle of the dagger tightly in my grip. Without warning, he jumps on me, causing the dagger to slip from my grip, and slide far from my reach. As my feet stride to the dagger, he wraps his masculine arms around my waist, shoving me onto the floor. He stands tall above me, placing his feet on either side of my waist. Our eyes engage in a fiery tug of war and a vicious smirk comes across his face. “You'll be mine tonight, and the whole academy will know it by tomorrow morning.” He starts unbuttoning his shirt.ARIA“Not happy to see me?” He raises his brows. It takes all of my strength to calm myself. The bitter rage is crawling within my skin but I don't dare to provoke him, not here, not among so many powerful wolves. The bartender rests a glass of orange juice on the counter, passing me a soft glance, he shifts his gaze to him, then quickly turns to a group of men asking for whiskey, avoiding Rizz Sylvester's presence for his own good.“What do you want?” I ask.“Got any update?” He steps closer.Three days ago, he assigned me a dreadful task to determine the progress of Jay's search for his real mother or he would hurt Ella. His intense gaze goes deeper into my eyes as he moves his face inches closer. The air presses on my shoulders, tension rising.Though calm, his eyes are holding a blaze that can ruin everything. “I have information.” My lips speak.“Good.” The corner of his mouth curls.“Jay found out that his mother is with one of the enemy packs but he doesn't know which one.”“I
ARIAAs we come back to the academy in the morning, he stands against the door, blocking my path, looking into my eyes.“Did something happen last night?”“Huh? What do you mean?” I drop my gaze to the floor, avoiding meeting his eyes.“Look at me, Hailey.” He mutters softly. My stubborn gaze remains on the floor.“I found myself on the couch. You aren't talking to me except for yes and no. What happened last night?” He grabs my arm, pulling me closer to his firm chest. My gaze at last looks into his eyes.“Tell me, please.”“You were sleepwalking.” My lips say it.He slowly releases my arm.“Did I do anything wrong?” *Yeah. You kissed my cheek.* My mind screams the words but my voice stays silent. The truth would only make things awkward and complicated between us.Moreover, Jay already has someone he likes. The orange button in his ring belongs to her.“You didn't do anything wrong. You just fell asleep on the couch.” “HAILEY.” A voice calls my name.Ella runs over to me and holds
ARIAShe inhales a deep breath and says…“Raven Aylestone.” The name is unknown, a mystery, never heard before, not even from a hunter.“Do you know anything else?” “Mother never allowed me to step outside my bedroom. She would sit with him alone in the living room and discuss things for hours.” “I did overhear them sometimes.” “He has a deep voice. Doesn't speak much.”“Many wolves don't speak a lot. Say something that can actually help us.” Jay slightly raises his voice, intimidating and powerful.Tessa shrinks under the weight of his voice.“Stop. Don't scare her.” I turn my head to him.He holds back his rage, clenching his jaws.“What else, Tessa?” “Whenever he came to our house, he wore a black hoodie with an eagle logo. I never saw his face but I know he is evil.”“We need to search the boys' dorms for a black hoodie with an eagle logo.” Words come out of my mouth as my gaze turns to Jay.“Leave that to me.” He assures.“You two should stay here tonight. It's already very
ARIAAs we arrive at Victor's house, he opens the door and takes a step back, horrified. I didn't tell him beforehand about Jay Manchester. He grabs my arm and drags me to a corner.“Why is he with you?” “Did he find out your identity?”“Is he threatening you or something?”“Are we dying?”“Victor, stop it.” My lips whisper back.He gulps, glancing at him. While we are standing in the corner, Jay is slowly taking in the details of the cozy interior.“Jay is helping me find the Alpha's son. Don't you remember?” “Right. I remember.” He wipes off the sweat from his forehead.“Why did you bring him here?” “Jonathan Manchester wants me to get engaged to his son. He thinks we're mates. I had dinner with him tonight. Lozark Aylestone also paid us a visit.”“What?” He is shaken to the core.Suddenly, his eyes narrowed on my neck.“Aria, what is this?” “Did he mark you?” He gets furious.“Ehm…This is fake.” His forehead crumples up.“We're just making everyone believe in the academy that
ARIAAs he tightens his grip on the steering wheel, his palm turns red, and the engine roars. He shifts his gaze to the front and drives off the car at over 120.The car races against the wind, chasing the empty wet road, drenched after heavy rain. The speed only goes up, driving to the sky.“Will you please slow down?” He doesn't listen and keeps on driving.“Jay. I am talking to you.”My fingers clutch the seatbelt as tightly as they can, holding myself to the seat. It almost feels like a rollercoaster ride. The sound of the wheels scratching the road sends a shiver down my spine. Even a sports car wouldn't do that. With our fast speed, no other cars or transport are near our range. They are behind, way too behind, looking like ants. The veins stretch against his arms, revealing them through his skin. I am just shocked, stunned, and so many things.“Why are you doing this?”He suddenly stops the car with a forced break near an abandoned hill. As the engine falls to silence, a breat
ARIA “No, I can't take it off.”“Why?” His eyes sharpen.“This bracelet means a lot to me. Even if it's hurting, I won't take it off.” My wrist pulls away from his grip and hides behind my waist.“As you wish.” He forces a smile. The jade bracelet is the only thing protecting my scent. Without it, I am a hunter with a different scent.“Your real parents must be rich.”“Huh? What?” “The jade bracelet is an expensive one. You'll rarely see anyone wearing it except for the wolves in the pack house.”“Really?” “Your bracelet is different. It has more designs than a normal jade bracelet.”“Maybe the bracelet is special…”“No, not at all.” My voice interrupts him.“I have been wearing the bracelet since childhood and it never did anything special.”Jay Manchester is a clever one. The more we talk about the bracelet, he will only get suspicious about my identity.“Let's talk about the red ruby.”“What about it?” He raises a brow.“We searched Ralix's room last night after everyone else le
