Chapter 3

Car Buyer

Anna was immediately infuriated upon hearing Diego's impudent demands.

Even though Anna needs money, Anna has self-respect and Anna will not let Diego trample on her self-respect like that.

"You insolent bastard! How dare you ask me something like that, Diego?" Anna scolded.

"Mr. Diego!" Diego reminded him. "Be polite to me!"

"Okay, Mr. Diego!" Anna repeated emphatically. "But I will never agree to your terms!"

Diego raised his eyebrows. "May I know why? I agree to everything your company has asked for, and I only have one condition of my own. What's so difficult about it?"

"Your terms are very immoral and I reject them! So there will be no agreement between us! Excuse me!"

Anna clutched the file she was holding and she rushed out of there with her heart still beating erratically.

Anna held herself back and kept her chin up arrogantly until she was sitting in her car and burst into tears there.

"Oh my God! Diego! Why did I have to meet him again when I was like this? Of all the people, why did it have to be him?

Why?"

Anna's feelings were mixed. She didn't know what made her sadder.

Memories of the past or the abuse Diego had just inflicted on her. Anna could only cry and cry, hugging herself.

Meanwhile Diego just sipped his drink in his study with a grin that never left his face.

"You can go now. But you'll definitely come back. We'll see!" Diego muttered confidently.

Meanwhile, upon Anna's arrival home, she immediately reported her failure. She kept the truth to herself so Jeremy wouldn't find out about Diego.

"What? He canceled the investment? How could that be? Are you good at your job or not, Anna?"

"I told you he didn't agree, Jeremy. He had a lot of demands we couldn't accept."

"Did he ask you to commit suicide, huh? No, did he? There's no request we can't accept as long as he's willing to invest in our company, Anna."

"Jeremy, it's not like that! The terms... the terms are detrimental to us."

"Since when did you become so stupid, Anna? We're already at a loss, and we'll lose even more if Global Delta cancels its investment!"snapped Jeremy, who was indeed temperamental.

Anna let out a long sigh. Being yelled at by Jeremy was a daily occurrence, and Anna was used to it.

"I'll just look for another investor."

"No! I've studied several companies and none are as strong as Global Delta! So whatever happens, get that partnership or say goodbye to your mother!" Jeremy threatened.

Anna was furious again. She wasn't in the mood to respond to Jeremy's threats.

"Stop threatening me, Jeremy! Even if you don't want to help pay for my mother's medical expenses at all, I will try on my own! I won't give up, so don't expect to be able to say goodbye to my mother! Never!"

Anna was furious, before she left her husband's study.

Jeremy, who couldn't accept being left behind, kept shouting in annoyance, but Anna didn't want to hear anything anymore and she didn't care about anything either.

Anna was still walking away when her cell phone rang and Anna immediately picked it up.

"Anna, are you going to sell your car?"

Anna's friend owns a car dealership.

Anna once asked how much her car would be worth if she sold it to pay for her mother's medical expenses, but Anna was still hesitant because she didn't have another vehicle if she sold her car.

"Eh, that...."

"There's a good offer, Anna. There's a Boss who's looking for a used car exactly like yours, even the year. If you sell it to me, I'll only buy it at the standard price, but this Boss can give you a high price if you want to sell it to him."

"Really? Who's boss?"

"Meet him tonight, Anna! I'll give you the address."

"But I'm not sure about selling it yet, let me think about it again first.

"Anna, he wanted to offer me three times the price I was asking for his car."

Anna widened when she heard that.

How many? Triples?"

"Right. I'm serious. But he wants to meet the original owner.

Just go with it, Anna! Meet him tonight, you won't get a good deal like this again, Anna!

Anna was confused. She brought up all the bills she had to pay herself. Jeremy refused to help her with anything in return, as Anna's father had stolen everything.

Anna took a deep breath and calculated everything, before finally, reluctantly, she decided to just sell her car.

Anna wore a modest blouse that night and went to a karaoke bar where the boss who wanted to buy her car was. His name was Jovan, the boss Anna was supposed to meet in the VIP room.

"Tsk, why do we have to go to a place like this? Can't we transact somewhere more normal?" Anna muttered as she looked for the VIP room.

A young man greeted Anna in front of the VIP room.

"You must be Mrs. Anna who sells cars, I'm Jovan. My boss is waiting inside."

"Hey, you're Mr. Jovan? Then the one who bought my car..."

"My boss! Please come in, ma'am!"

Jovan opened the door for Anna, and she was immediately greeted by the sound of thumping music. Not only that, but the voices of several men were also heard, making Anna's heart race uncontrollably.

"Come in, ma'am! My boss is waiting!" shouted Jovan, once again inviting Anna in.

Anna swallowed her saliva for a moment.

This kind of place wasn't a place she usually went to, but Anna nodded and had to step inside while maintaining her dignity.

However, Anna's authority immediately faded when her gaze once again met Diego's gaze who was somehow there.
