JOCELYN’s POV

“I just spoke with the person in charge of the printing. How couldn’t you notice that error until it was this late? I said as I entered my office, slamming the door behind me.

I listened to the response while shaking my head because like I’d expected, it was all just excuses. I massaged my brows.“All you’re giving are excuses, you were meant to go through it carefully before sending it out for printing. Because you refused to do your work, we have to settle for using pen to cancel the error. Get your team ready because you’re the ones doing it.”

I listened for a while before rolling my eyes. “I don’t care how busy you are or if you have to stay the night fixing your errors. I need it completed in the next three days.”

JOCELYN's POVI could have cried. Okay, maybe I was being dramatic but right now, it was like my mood had done a complete one eighty. After hearing the way the sponsors I’d always counted on had downgraded my effort, design, and practically the whole show, I’d been burning with fury because of how I’d felt after hearing them. But either way, now Marcus was making me feel so much better just with his words. I could tell how sincere he was from his face. For the most part, I didn’t need validation from others but for some reason, this one had stung. Perhaps because I was aware how many eyes were on me, waiting for me to fail. Or was it because Daniel had been there as they’d kept on talking. Whatever it was, right now, I felt so much better.“I’ll be sure to send you a personal invite next time. You can even come for the after party today. It’s more fun than business, but I think you’ll also have fun.” Because obviously, Marcus was someone that thrived on social interaction. It had take

JOCELYN’s POVI weaved between racks of garments, checking each one for the assigned names as well as for tears. I was also making sure they were all steamed to perfection. Even the littlest crease would look so untidy under the professional lights.“Natalie, swap that shoe for the backup pair.” I instructed, as I caught the slightest tilt in the heel she was holding as she rushed past me, muttering something under her breath.Natalie nodded and without breaking her stride, went back the direction she had been coming from. My eyes went to the monitor for the timing and light cues as they practiced again. Because of the time shortage, they had been unable to practice with the models before today. As I watched, there was a micro lag, barely visible, but it had dragged with the music, changing the rhythm. My eyes darted to the soundboard operator. “Restart that track and keep it synchronized.”The models were beginning to file into their changing room with their outfits and a flash of m

JOCELYN’s POV“You should take that.” Daniel said, pointing at the phone that was vibrating on the edge of the table where I’d placed it.I looked at the phone and reached towards it slowly, wishing it would stop ringing before I reached it. Wasn’t it common courtesy that once you’ve called twice, you assume the person was either busy or intentionally trying to ignore you?Unfortunately, the phone was still ringing when I picked it up so I took a deep breath and answered it. The person’s name wasn’t saved on my phone so it was just a number that was showing but one that was stuck in my memory.“Hey Jocelyn.” My aunt greeted in her usual cheerful voice like my cousin hadn’t just recently broken my heart beyond repair by revealing what I really meant to them.“Hey aunty.” I greeted back in a high-pitched tone. There was no way I could fake excitement in my voice so that would have to do.I felt eyes on me and remembering where I was, quickly stood up, pointing at the phone and left the

DANIEL’s POV“Come in.” I called as I heard footsteps near the door. There was a pause before Jocelyn opened the door and came in with a plate of fruits. She had changed into a tank top and shorts from the pantsuit she had been putting on. I’d also changed into a more comfortable T-shirt and black pant. Jocelyn sat down opposite me and looked at me.“We need to talk about the next courses of action. Your plan sounds good, but can it actually work? Somehow, I don’t think Ethan would leave obvious trails behind him if he abused his position of CFO.” Jocelyn said, popping a blueberry in her mouth.I looked at her. “Before that, we need to establish a few things. We have to work as quietly and fast as possible. Also, no matter what we end up doing, nothing must be traceable back to us.” She frowned but I continued. “Also, this is not an emotional fight. You are to act normal towards both of them, no confrontations, no threats, no acting without my permission, no matter what we end up find
