ARIA’s POV

The drive home felt longer than it should have. My father’s grip on the steering wheel was tight, the veins standing out on his hands. His jaw worked as though he was grinding his teeth. I hated the sterile smell that filled my nose every time and being plugged to machines didn't feel pleasant in any way. I just wanted to feel better. I wound down my window and sucked in a fresh breath of air that hit my nose as soon as we were in the garage. “Ugh, this feels so different.” I thought to myself with my eyes closed. Daniel was sitting right beside me, his eyes scanning every moment I was making. I was so caught up in taking in the environment that I didn't realize the car had actually come to a stop.
