Vivian had noticed that Charles had stopped showing up at work. His desk was empty, and his office had been cleated out. She wondered what had happened with him.

It also didn’t help that her co-workers were less quiet lately and had been whispering among themselves and discreetly looking at her like she had done something wrong.

She tried confronting them, but they immediately shut down and pretended as though they were busy working and not gossiping about her. She then decided she would have to ask Mr Peter, her boss, about it.
