ВойтиChapter Two
Elara's Pov
"Elara darling....?" She called, she was the sole reminder of the cause of all my problems.
"Grandma Mag...." I called... She was the sole reminder of my problem, well not directly, but she was.
She was grandmother to my late friend, Selene. Or my ex friend rather.
Selene was Mason's one great love, or so he thought, every steamed up from the jealousy I didn't know that brewed within Selene.
I knew Mason first, we were pen pals technically, but then I wasn't allowed to use a phone to communicate, my mom had thought I wouldn't be worthy enough for my husband, I knew she had arranged in for me somewhere and I didn't fight the thought anymore when I found out it was the same as my own pal.
Everything happened so fast and Selene married Mason, even with the betrayal I couldn't move on, it wasn't shortly after their marriage, Selene developed colon cancer and she passed on six months after her marriage to Mason, and unfortunately she was pregnant for him when she died. So Mason lost two souls. There was no bringing back. It made him hate me the more cause I was the only option left for him given by his mother. He had to get married to give the family an heir.
Since I was the original betroth, I was married off to him, it was the happiest day of my life, I was finally getting married to the man I love, but the man I loved loathed me and I leaved with that for two years.
And now I am bumping into Grandma Mag, she looked at me
"My poor thing....how have you been?" She asked, i knew she had a condition of confusing people and right now she thought I was her granddaughter just that she called me by her name. I remembered the late night muffins she would sneak when we were reading for exams or test.
I loved her more than my own mother, but what could I do? I was a pain in everyone's life, more like a leech who cannot go away all because I love them.
My heart cut in pain, she was just as manipulated as everyone by Selene into tricking Mason to marry her.
"Grandma, what are you doing here alone?" I asked as I tried to flash a smile before, helping her seat, when she pointed at the room very close to the hall way...
"That's my room over there..." The nurse walked up to us,
" So sorry ma'am... I'll take it from here." She added,
" Oh no...there's no need for that... I'll take her instead." I told her as I helped Grandma Margret up.
" You sure..."
"Yes I'm sure..." I answered lightly, as I took her back to her room. It was a VIP room, and I knew Mason had a hand in this.
"He still takes care of her family even in her absence" I said subconsciously to myself. I was jealous and somewhat angry.
"Thank you..." Grandma's voice broke into my thought, as I realized we were in her ward already.
I help her seat, before saying..
"I have to go now Grandma.." I told her.
" But why?" She asked but I couldn't give an answer.
But I opened my mouth to say something when she said, "I know you stole Elara's identity to be with your husband...don't you feel pain?" She asked, thinking she was talking to Selene. I broke down down in tears, nothing was more frustrating trying to fit in and be loved by the same man who won w loved you.
I wiped my tears so not to upset her, she had a condition and could get aggressive too. It only became worst after Selene's death.
"Grandma...Selene is dead...this is me Elara..." I tried but it wasn't working,
"No you're not. You're not Elara... Selene. " She said again, I gave up completely, it wouldn't make any sense now, no one would believe I am the real wife and not Selene.
I checked the time, it was about time for my appointment with the doctor and if I do not leave now, The Lorne family would be notified that I skipped.
" You and Elara were friends but you told me, Your husband was yours." As she talked, fresh wound began to open, from the day, I walked in on selene's proposal and how I was humiliated. The Lorne family had tried to settle the betrothal and let me go but after Selene died, I was her replacement to make babies for the Lorne family, which in my case, is more depressing.
Mason didn't want the marriage, but technically he as forced into the marriage, his family adored me but that was my last ticket, if I do not bear children for Mason, I could be discarded, and yes i love Mason so much despite all these. I want to believe the universe is out for me.
I could bear it, I had to leave before anyone recognizes me here with Grandma.
Just as I stood up about to leave the door opened and my husband walked in with a packaged fruit basket in his hands, the smile on his face immediately disappeared the moment he saw me.
"Mason..." I called, surprised. He had told me he had a meeting with the board, but he was in the hospital.
"What are you doing here?" He asked with a bit or irritation in his voice like I was not supposed to be here.
"Uhmm...I bumped into her a few minutes a ago and I tried to to help her..."
" Get the hell out of here this minute." He said through gritty teeth. I looked at him in surprise, well this was not the first time but in front of Grandma??
I turned, looking at grandma as I put up a fake smile on my face then grabbed by bag as I walked out, the door banged after me making me flinch.
Chapter 21Elara's POV I lay sprawled on the bed as the sun rays escaping through the curtains hit my face. I slowly opened my eyes, and I was still feeling very much asleep, but I couldn't find him around. The bed was empty, and the room was quiet, maintained, and I called. I slowly drifted my dusty. I slowly shut my eyes again, trying to muster the only energy I could find. Slowly, I regained my strength as I sat up, rubbing my eyes. When the duvet fell over my chest, it was only then that it dawned on me that I was without clothes, literally nothing.I gasped,"Wait, what the hell happened last night?" I tried my best to search my brain for the memory of last night, but it all came in flashes. I heard his voice, his deep voice, whispering it to me. It flashed back to my reality. We actually made love last night. I instantly felt a hot blush flush my cheeks and the tip of my nose. I didn't know what to feel, whether to be happy or sad, or to be scared. What if he had changed?
Chapter 20 Elara's pov We walked into the room, I supposed Wanmin, but he hand shut the door behind him, all the tears instantly got replaced by my fear as my heart skipped a bit. I turned slowly to him, he didn't say anything. The room was big with a king-sized bed with rose petals on it saying"Happy honeymoon." But this wasn't our honeymoon we were just drenched in the rain," This is for newly wedded couple...s" I said slowly, dragging my words."I know that....since we couldn't have our honeymoon, don't you think tonight makes it perfect?" He said, my chest tightened as I swallowed hard in nervousness. His gaze was glued to mine, like if he took it off, I'd disappear."Honeymoon?" I scoffed, feigning lack of interest. "Don't you think it's too late for that? We're 3 years in already."Mason flashed a warm smile, "you can say it is considering the way our anniversary went." He said, but I didn't mind.."You need to get dressed, and change into the dress I asked the motel to pro
Chapter 19Mason's POV "Do not test my patience." My father said briefly, his gaze fixed on me. The tension in the room began to increase, I felt a warm hand pull me away from my father."Mason.... please... don't" Elara's small voice said."You! You're the reason for this shenanigans!" my mother charged at Elara. The look of disbelief was all over my face, "What's with you two? You both asked me to marry her shortly after the death of Serene." I could understand why the sudden shift, 3 years ago they shifted me to her and now it's too Betty."You want to know? Yes, we asked you to marry her but what has been the product of this sham marriage? No child! No heir!!""And somehow it's her fault?"I threw back at them, I began hearing sniffing from? Behind me, it was Elara who was crying."You're wrong because in the three years we were married I didn't for once touch her." I dropped the bombshell, but it didn't matter."What are you talking about?" My mom drew close,"You heard me. I kn
Chapter 18Mason's POV There was no way, Brent was telling the truth, but the look on his intercepted my thought of the possibility of him lying."What do they want wth her files and my marriage certificate to Elara?" I asked, but there was no justifying answer for that."I don't know Mason. At first, it's a suspected enemy from your dad's past, and now this..." his voice cracked, "this is a mystery already." He concluded.I turned to Elara, her face went pale, and she was scared to the wits."Do you think Serene is alive?" Elara said as Brent and I turned sharply to her."Alive? She died three years ago from cancer, you know this...so how possible?" Brent questioned, but then it hit me."Or it could be a family friend of hers or an acquaintance."Elara immediately cut in," I doubt that, Serene and her grandmother have been isolated from family ever since her parents died."Just the police chief walked up to me from behind Elara,"We've questioned your domestic staff, they're all say
Chapter 17 Elara's PovThe slap was resounding, sending me off to lose balance, Mason immediately held on to me before I made it to the ground."Mom!" He yelled out loud d, his voice in a thunder, shook me. "How dare you lay your hands on her!"His mother glared at him then back at me, "Why wouldn't I? She put you in the situation!" She groaned, and I stood there my eyes filled with tears waiting to drop from my eyes.Brent stood in confusion, wondering how this was my fault."Really now? Then sorry to break it to you your husband is the cause of all this?" He resorted.Confusion etched her face, "What are you talking about?" She asked, looking at me then back to him."Let's get out of here, Elara" he breathed out, grabbing me by the wrist, he pulled me away, "Brent see that my parents leave his place" he instructed, Brent nodded, just as we were about to get to his car, the chief of police walked up to us."Are you two leaving?""Yes, we are. I'll leave you with our men to handle th
Chapter 16Elara's povPanic flowed through me as he caught my face with his palm, roughly shaking. I was literally drenched in fear. And it was... "You have to trust me, please. We don't have to fight about this," he said warmly. There was something about his voice. It was warm, but faint. I felt my mind shut out of the world I viewed around myself, and I wasn't feeling it. He then helped me into the car as he closed the car door and jumped behind the steering wheelsHis gaze was fixed on the road as he drove down the road under the splattering rain. Outside in the street was low in rain and smoke, but I couldn't get hold of what had just happened. It felt like something had just been in over. Confusion instantly surged through my thoughts, and I managed to ask, "What is going on? Where were you stalking me???'He remained silent with every harmony on the stereo wheel driving through that night, "For how long? Talk to me, Mason! " What is happening," I asked. He turned to me, "I
Chapter 14 Elara's POVI always thought the walls of the house of Grandma were cozier than any other place I had ever lived in, but this night the coziness seemed to be coming down like a suffocating blanket. I was sitting crookedly on the old sofa, with my hands round a mug of chamomile tea which
Chapter 10 She's Hiding Something Mason's POV I drove for a while, the road was clear and dark but the streetlights did justice to it. I parked adjacent to Grandma's house, as I hoped for a miracle and for any one of them to come out.I sat behind my steering wheel, as I deliberated whether I sh
