CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FIFTY

“What?” My voice came out hoarse. I could almost not hear it against the pounding of my heart. My eyes were watering with tears, trying to understand what was going on. The atmosphere turned gloomy and chilly and I wondered what she had already been told by the doctors. She seemed so distraught. Aarav and Jared too.

I held her hand and squeezed, willing her to tell me everything.

“I’d been feeling sick for the past couple of days… Aarav brought me here when I’d passed out and I…” She was interrupted by a doctor who walked in while looking

“Okay Mrs Bedi, the baby is just fine.” Aly’s hands slipped from mine and face scrunched up in confusion.

“What!” Everyone managed to say at the same time.

“What the hell is going on?” I grabbed a chair to sit as my shaky legs could not hold me.

“Hold on one second…” I held my finger to the doctor, directing all his attention to me.

“I thought she was dying.” The doctor had an incredulous look on his face.
