~NYRA
“What?” I exclaimed as I shot to my feet. My heart began to pound heavily as I looked from Reid to my mother. “Nyra… Sit down!” Mother ordered through clenched teeth. I turned back to Reid and I saw that his expression was already turning into anger. “Usually, I would punish anyone who speaks out of turn or interrupts me in any way…” I gasped and instantly sank to my feet. “But my father will spare you since you’re now our new sister and it’s your first time,” Cassian finished before flashing me his signature smile. I swallowed hard. “I— I’m sorry I did that. I— It’s just that I’ve never been away from my mother. We always go everywhere together.” Reid broke into laughter. “What are you, human? Eight?” Rylan chuckled before going back to eating his food like he didn’t just laugh. “I’m so sorry about Nyra. She’s just very attached to me too much and so am I. But I’ll be more than happy to go on a honeymoon with you, knowing that Nyra will be perfectly safe with her brothers.” Mother touched his arm. Reid smiled proudly before turning to her and beginning to kiss her like we were all not in the room. Rylan sighed heavily at the sight of them. “Why am I subjected to watch this?” I blinked too as I heard both of them moan. They both seemed inseparable and it all still felt like a dream. “Rest assured, Lyora… We will look after our little sister,” Sylver said before rising from his seat. Reid stopped kissing Mother at this point and stared at his son. “And where are you going, Sylver?” He scoffed. “Isn’t it obvious, I’m excusing you two, so that you can have your privacy. It’s not like I’m hungry anyway.” Then Sylver turned to his brothers and nodded once. They all stood up at his wordless command and began to follow him when Rylan suddenly stopped and turned to me. “Little Human, didn’t you get the message?” His voice sounded as if merely talking was too much work for him. I swallowed hard and turned to Reid only to see that he was also waiting for me to leave. I looked at my mother and she smiled in encouragement. It was indeed my cue to leave. “I— I’m sorry.” I shot to my feet and hurried after them. We went up the stairs in silence and I believed that we were all going back to our rooms. It was until we reached the top of the stairs and entered the corridors, far from Reid’s eyes that Cassian grabbed me from behind and pulled me backward so that my back hit his chest. I gasped, not just because of his masculine aura and warmth but because I could swear I felt his hardness poking against my lower back. I froze in place, not able to move as Cassian’s fingers began to play around my lower stomach. I shuddered at the feelings his fingers were provoking within me. It was like a forbidden dark fire coming alive in my core and threatening to ask for more. “What are you doing?” I breathed when I finally got the courage to speak. By then, even Sylver had stopped and was now resting his back against the wall of the long corridor. Rylan did the same to the opposite wall while Cassian and I remained in the center of the corridor. Cassian pulled back my hair with his free hand and brought his lips so my left ear that I felt hot tingles assault my skin. “We promised to come back for you that night. Didn’t we, Nyra?” My heart skipped two beats at that moment. I blinked multiple times as I realised that my fear had finally caught up with me. Sylver pushed off the wall at that moment and slowly made his way to me, making sure that every step he took, intensified the power of dominance in his aura. “We never leave unfinished business,” he whispered before grabbing my chin roughly and forcing me to look up at him. “W— what do you want from me?” I managed to say in a terrified whisper. They all chuckled. Including Rylan who was standing there and looking as if he was not paying attention. I swallowed hard as my body started trembling this time. Cassian began to move his overly warm hand lower down my stomach until he stopped on my private area. Heat scattered inside me at the mere thought that his hand was there and I bit my lower lip gently. “You have no idea the scent that you possess, do you?” Cassian asked still behind me. “How do you expect her to know?” Rylan asked before shaking his head. “I wonder why a mere human like her has the rare Blood Orange scent.” I blinked twice at his words and I wanted to ask him what he was talking about but I was too scared to because I feared that it would prolong my time here with them in this dimly lit hallway. Sylver leaned over my face. “Neither do you have an idea how much that scent drives our control level crazy…” I released a shaky breath in that moment and he shut his eyes gently as if he was revelling in the air before opening his eyes again. Then he revealed his tongue and slowly but deliberately licked my lips. I widened my eyes at him as I began to panic. Why was he doing this? Why was Cassian even touching me in this provocative and inappropriate manner? Our parents had just gotten married! We were now siblings in the eyes of the law! This was not even supposed to be happening. Yet it was, and deep down, at the darkest corner of my mind, I wanted more. Sylver inhaled sharply as if the taste he had gotten of my lips awakened something within him and in a split second, he claimed my mouth— roughly. I was too shocked to react as he moved his lips hungrily against mine, drinking me in like he had been waiting forever to do this and my heart began to race faster than normal because somehow, I was enjoying this. He suddenly pulled away before exhaling sharply. Then he looked at his brothers as if he was passing a secret message to them and they suddenly broke into a chuckle. Cassian released me at this moment and I staggered as I tried to catch my weight but it was futile. I was about to fall when Rylan pushed off the wall swiftly and caught me. I widened my eyes as I looked up at him. He was the last person I expected to do that. He looked down at me as if he was unaffected and turned me around so that he pinned me against the wall. That was when I made the mistake of looking into his eyes. I was mesmerised. His ocean blue orbs had begun to glow and they looked enchanting up close. He watched me silently as if I was a strange species. Then he leaned so close that I thought he was going to kiss me too when he spoke instead. “Whatever you do, don’t bleed… Or you will unleash the very monsters you fear from within us…”~ NYRAMy body instantly froze as Ried's words echoed thunderously in my head.My senses felt jumbled and I suddenly believed I had once again imagined what didn’t happen. But his next words threw me into shock as it occurred to me that I wasn’t imagining anything at all..."So, having said that, I am going to leave the rest of the decision for you to make," he beamed like he was sharing the best news in the world. It was really happening... I whispered as I felt my lungs begin to vibrate in their place."Father, what other decision can we possibly make when it’s looking like you have done most of the job yourself?" Cassian hissed, and I could see the shock that also reflected in his eyes. But Ried's smile only brightened as he clapped his hands. "Yes, you may say that. But the decision to either share her or keep her for only one of you solely rests on you to decide!"At his response, the tension in the room thickened further. I could feel the weight pressing down against my lungs, f
~ NYRAThe rays of the sun gently pulled me awake. I stirred on the bed, my eyes opening to meet Rylan smiling at me."Good morning," he whispered, and I felt a jolt of energy travel into my heart.Like an infection, I mirrored his smile too. "Morning... How are you?"His eyes twinkled as he slowly pulled himself out of bed. Then he flashed me that warm smile again. "I think I can survive for a few more years."I laughed at his cuteness and moved to help him. "Alright, immortal man, let's get you to the shower."But as I reached for his arm, he gently grabbed my hand and led it to his lips. He placed gentle kisses over it and smiled even brighter."I can manage a shower. And you need to get ready for breakfast too," he muttered. "The last thing we need is for father to get pissed off over our absence or lateness.""But I can help you and then still prepare myself for—"His warm lips covered my hand again, the heat shooting sweet pleasure down my stomach, forcing me to stop speaking."
~ CASSIANOnce in my room, I was on the verge of taking off my shirt when it suddenly occurred to me that neither Nyra nor Rylan had anything to eat.The whole day had been so eventful that they all missed dinner. In fact, practically everyone in the house skipped dinner after we found out what happened to Rylan. And knowing Rylan, he would die first before he complained about the worms in his stomach to Nyra.Nyra on the other hand, would probably feel too self-conscious to excuse herself for food."Those kids," I sighed, fixing back my shirt. The duty fell on me to get them food.I then went back out of my room and headed down to the kitchen. As I got there, the sweet smell of freshly made chicken soup tickled my nostrils, pushing back my thoughts until a smile sat on my face.—Food was indeed the key to happiness. A filled stomach was a fulfilled life."Your highness..." The maids giggled the moment they saw me approach. My eyes moved to them and my smile stretched into a smirk as
~ NYRAMy heart skipped as I looked into his beautiful ocean blue eyes.He was so gentle. So quiet.Seeing such pain embedded in his eyes broke a piece of my heart. The way his beautiful eyes searched my face, I felt butterflies stir inside of me. My stomach flipped as his eyes started a fire deep within me—despite the situation. Then I realized this was the first time we were this close to each other after that damned party. This was the first time he was holding me after Sylver unfairly forbade him to. I could clearly see the sadness in his eyes, the silent longing he had to suppress just because of Sylver. My heart tightened as my emotions swelled inside of me. Rylan was going through so much pain and trouble... And his only crime was the fact that he loved me...My emotions burned strong, fueling the flames of desires already kindling inside of me. And before I could stop myself, I made the first move. I kissed him.Rylan slipped his hand to the small of my back, kissing me ba
~RYLANThe moment Sylver walked away, my body gave in to the pain I was ignoring and I collapsed to the ground. The world started spinning and before I could realise it, my vision darkened. I could still feel what was happening around me, but I felt myself float into a memory. —A dark hole that no creature should visit."No... No..." I mumbled as I suddenly saw Sylver appear before me. His body was radiating dark energy that wrapped dangerously around me. It was sucking the air around me, leaving my lungs empty as I desperately began to claw for air. Then he stretched his large hand to me. The moment it connected to my body, I felt an involuntary shiver run through my entire body.I knew it wasn't real. It was just a terrible memory. But I couldn't stop it. My body felt physically connected to it. I could feel everything. Every pain, every prick and shiver. The dark aura around Sylver got stronger, pushing my body to the ground. Then like he had cast a spell on me— my entire bod
~SYLVERMy eyes were wide with shock as I watched Rylan. I was surprised that he was able to leave his room after what I did to him— My heart flipped as thoughts of what I had done to him flashed through my mind. I was too hard on him... But I could at least be glad that he was fine now—fine enough to stand on his own. It meant he was getting better, even if I could pick the subtle metallic smell of his blood. He was reopening his wounds by leaving his room, yet he did it anyway."Are you listening to me?" His voice cut through my thoughts and I blinked back at him.My head cocked to the side as it dawned on me what he had been saying—what he was ultimately trying to do. I couldn't deny it. I was taken aback by his sudden courage to talk back at me—even after everything I had put him through. After all, it was his sudden need to be brave that made me angry at him the last time. Not like I was justifying it, but it was his disrespect that forced me to lose control. His behaviour u
