“What?” I exclaimed as I shot to my feet. My heart began to pound heavily as I looked from Reid to my mother. “Nyra… Sit down!” Mother ordered through clenched teeth. I turned back to Reid and I saw that his expression was already turning into anger. “Usually, I would punish anyone who speaks out of turn or interrupts me in any way…” I gasped and instantly sank to my feet. “But my father will spare you since you’re now our new sister and it’s your first time,” Cassian finished before flashing me his signature smile. I swallowed hard. “I— I’m sorry I did that. I— It’s just that I’ve never been away from my mother. We always go everywhere together.” Reid broke into laughter. “What are you, human? Eight?” Rylan chuckled before going back to eating his food like he didn’t just laugh. “I’m so sorry about Nyra. She’s just very attached to me too much and so am I. But I’ll be more than happy to go on a honeymoon with you, knowing that Nyra will be perfectly safe with her brothers.” Mother touched his arm. Reid smiled proudly before turning to her and beginning to kiss her like we were all not in the room. Rylan sighed heavily at the sight of them. “Why am I subjected to watch this?” I blinked too as I heard both of them moan. They both seemed inseparable and it all still felt like a dream. “Rest assured, Lyora… We will look after our little sister,” Sylver said before rising from his seat. Reid stopped kissing Mother at this point and stared at his son. “And where are you going, Sylver?” He scoffed. “Isn’t it obvious, I’m excusing you two, so that you can have your privacy. It’s not like I’m hungry anyway.” Then Sylver turned to his brothers and nodded once. They all stood up at his wordless command and began to follow him when Rylan suddenly stopped and turned to me. “Little Human, didn’t you get the message?” His voice sounded as if merely talking was too much work for him. I swallowed hard and turned to Reid only to see that he was also waiting for me to leave. I looked at my mother and she smiled in encouragement. It was indeed my cue to leave. “I— I’m sorry.” I shot to my feet and hurried after them. We went up the stairs in silence and I believed that we were all going back to our rooms. It was until we reached the top of the stairs and entered the corridors, far from Reid’s eyes that Cassian grabbed me from behind and pulled me backward so that my back hit his chest. I gasped, not just because of his masculine aura and warmth but because I could swear I felt his hardness poking against my lower back. I froze in place, not able to move as Cassian’s fingers began to play around my lower stomach. I shuddered at the feelings his fingers were provoking within me. It was like a forbidden dark fire coming alive in my core and threatening to ask for more. “What are you doing?” I breathed when I finally got the courage to speak. By then, even Sylver had stopped and was now resting his back against the wall of the long corridor. Rylan did the same to the opposite wall while Cassian and I remained in the center of the corridor. Cassian pulled back my hair with his free hand and brought his lips so my left ear that I felt hot tingles assault my skin. “We promised to come back for you that night. Didn’t we, Nyra?” My heart skipped two beats at that moment. I blinked multiple times as I realised that my fear had finally caught up with me. Sylver pushed off the wall at that moment and slowly made his way to me, making sure that every step he took, intensified the power of dominance in his aura. “We never leave unfinished business,” he whispered before grabbing my chin roughly and forcing me to look up at him. “W— what do you want from me?” I managed to say in a terrified whisper. They all chuckled. Including Rylan who was standing there and looking as if he was not paying attention. I swallowed hard as my body started trembling this time. Cassian began to move his overly warm hand lower down my stomach until he stopped on my private area. Heat scattered inside me at the mere thought that his hand was there and I bit my lower lip gently. “You have no idea the scent that you possess, do you?” Cassian asked still behind me. “How do you expect her to know?” Rylan asked before shaking his head. “I wonder why a mere human like her has the rare Blood Orange scent.” I blinked twice at his words and I wanted to ask him what he was talking about but I was too scared to because I feared that it would prolong my time here with them in this dimly lit hallway. Sylver leaned over my face. “Neither do you have an idea how much that scent drives our control level crazy…” I released a shaky breath in that moment and he shut his eyes gently as if he was revelling in the air before opening his eyes again. Then he revealed his tongue and slowly but deliberately licked my lips. I widened my eyes at him as I began to panic. Why was he doing this? Why was Cassian even touching me in this provocative and inappropriate manner? Our parents had just gotten married! We were now siblings in the eyes of the law! This was not even supposed to be happening. Yet it was, and deep down, at the darkest corner of my mind, I wanted more. Sylver inhaled sharply as if the taste he had gotten of my lips awakened something within him and in a split second, he claimed my mouth— roughly. I was too shocked to react as he moved his lips hungrily against mine, drinking me in like he had been waiting forever to do this and my heart began to race faster than normal because somehow, I was enjoying this. He suddenly pulled away before exhaling sharply. Then he looked at his brothers as if he was passing a secret message to them and they suddenly broke into a chuckle. Cassian released me at this moment and I staggered as I tried to catch my weight but it was futile. I was about to fall when Rylan pushed off the wall swiftly and caught me. I widened my eyes as I looked up at him. He was the last person I expected to do that. He looked down at me as if he was unaffected and turned me around so that he pinned me against the wall. That was when I made the mistake of looking into his eyes. I was mesmerised. His ocean blue orbs had begun to glow and they looked enchanting up close. He watched me silently as if I was a strange species. Then he leaned so close that I thought he was going to kiss me too when he spoke instead. “Whatever you do, don’t bleed… Or you will unleash the very monsters you fear from within us…”~NYRABy the time Rylan was done cleaning me up, he carried me once again to the bedroom where he dressed me.“Nyra, the breakfast bell will be rung any second now,” he said as he moved around the room returning my things back in place. His own clothes were clinging to his skin from the wetness, but he didn't mind. He was more focused on putting my space in order. When he finished, he stopped in front of me and took my hand with a small smile carved on his handsome face.“Nyra, you’ll have to join everyone at the breakfast table as usual or Father might— he might suspect something is up.”I knew this was the tradition. But I was barely even worried about that. My mind was still stuck in my own dilemma because if I didn't do something about that, being late for breakfast would be the least of our problems. But I nodded in agreement anyway.“Good,” Rylan beamed. “I’ll go change too and come get you, okay?”Again, his sweetness cut a portion of my black confused heart, but I nodded.“Oka
~NYRALyon— “I went to him too!” I gasped, unable to believe the memory that glued itself to my head. It was one thing to go crazy and hurt all those people. But Lyon…“It could have been anyone… any one else…” I whimpered, turning to face Rylan who still held me close.“You don't have to think about anything, Nyra… please, it's over now. Let it go, please,” he said, but I shook my head.“You don't understand…” I breathed. “Rylan… of all the people in the realm, why did it have to be him? I almost killed him.”The confusion on his face morphed into something dark. “Nyra…” he flinched and I heard the fear in his voice. He was scared of me… He couldn't—“Oh gods…” I cried, my tears falling in buckets at the realization. If Rylan could be this scared, then what about Lyon? How would he handle what I did to him?And Sylver… Cassian…Their names kept replaying in my mind alongside the gruesome things I did. The blood, the screams… everything blended into a constant vision I could no longe
~CASSIANThat smile on Nyra— or what became of Nyra that night couldn't leave my head.It kept replaying over and over like a cursed drama. And each time, my heart leapt with fear.I couldn't put a finger on it. But I knew it meant something. Her vampire side wasn't just some mindless bloodsucker. It was deeper. And I couldn't help but feel some sort of connection between that side of her and Dylan's presence in our house. Those threats he spat out… they couldn't have been a coincidence.I just couldn't figure out how it would all work out in the end. But I couldn't give up. My entire family and Nyra's sanity probably depended on that.I kept thinking through the whole situation the whole night. Even after putting Nyra to sleep and leaving her in Rylan’s care, I just couldn't sleep myself.I stayed awake all night trying to come up with the answer to that connection. But every direction I processed brought me back to one loose end…Danielle. She was definitely a link that joined the m
~NYRAHis lips crashed over ours, sucking and licking away like I was his desert.I wanted to scream, to push him away… but my knees weakened and my wrists felt powerless. The man moved the kisses to my neck, leaving a wet path of sweet nothings until he found my pulse point.“Hmm… you still smell so good…” he let out, his voice hoarse with lust.My mind blinked in confusion but I barely had time to think as sharp pain instantly shot through my neck!“Ahhh!” I cried out as his fangs sank deeper into my neck. But once again, the outer me welcomed the pain. And soon, rather than scream for help… she moaned.“Ohhh… yes…” she pushed our body further into him, melting deeper into his dangerous warmth as the man kept drinking.“Hmmm… your blood-orange scent grows stronger every time… it gets sweeter and more intoxicating…” he growled, licking around the opening he made with his fangs. The movements of his tongue sent sweet electric waves through my body and even the inner me could not resi
~NYRAI was wearing a red dress and standing on a stage. There was no spotlight. No sound. No audience.Only darkness sat in front of me. And like it was alive, I felt it watching…My whole body felt strange… the scene felt strange… yet perfect. It was confusing how I even found it perfect. The inside of me was lost, wondering how I got here… but outwardly, I was smiling and then… I started dancing. There was no music. But I danced.I twirled in the red dress, gracefully moving to a rhythm that felt familiar, yet I could have sworn I had no idea what I was doing. My heart started beating hard, as fear and confusion blended dangerously inside of me. But that was the least of my worries…Because the air started picking up pace. I could hear the howls as I twirled. And as if that was the cue, even my dancing changed. What was once graceful, suddenly became violent. And then it clicked…This wasn’t a dance. It was a ritual! My heart pounded harder as the realization crashed into me. But j
~LYONI was on the bathroom floor, unable to move.My body was still too shocked by what had happened. Goddess, I still couldn’t wrap my head around it…“Did Odette just…”I couldn’t even bring myself to say the words out loud. Because it just wasn’t supposed to be possible…Or was it?My fingers—still shaking—slowly moved to my lips. I could still feel the consuming warmth of her soft lips over mine. I could still feel the electric sizzles of the need she poured into me…But then…My fingers continued their journey. They left my lips and moved to my neck—to the spot where she had bitten…Where she drank from me…‘You should taste it…’ a low distorted voice said in my head.My brows furrowed, wondering why my wolf suddenly sounded so strange. But my body was already obeying this voice…‘The blood… your blood… taste it…’ it repeated. And my fingers already knew what to do. I let them soak in my own blood from the cut Nyra’s fangs had made. And then, I brought them to my lips again.I h
