Sophia's POV:

I heard Xavier's heart pounding inside his chest. I saw real shock written all over his face. His eyes widened and his mouth slightly agape in bewilderment. I was shivering and almost urinated on my pants. The whole thing was just so messy and confusing. I just did not even understand why this was happening. But well, how could I? When even Xavier, the future Alpha doesn't.

My mind was racing with thoughts. My head was pounding with aches. My hands were fidgeting and my legs trembled. My nerves were fluttering inside my skin and I heard my belly rumbling. I felt like going home, but not now, it was already too late.

I looked at Xavier, perplexed as ever, but he foolishly feigned a smile at me, pretending like he understood any of these things that were happening.

"Why feign confidence with fear written all over your face?" I thought, my eyes fixed on his.

The moon oracle just smiled warmly at us, seeing the confusion in our faces. "Come on children, follow me." She urge

  • MY WEREWOLF DESTINY   Chap. 128: Shattered Beliefs

Xavier's POVMother's words just had to become the biggest joke of the century; the only thing was that no one was laughing. Least of all, myself."You never hated humans because they were weak, Xavier. You hated them because it was easier than facing the truth."Within that, the acrid song clanged within me, digging at corners of thoughts I struggled burying long. I clench my fist and dig fingernails deep into my palm with the strength therein-none against this crystal clear realization now stinging across my mind. She was right.I have hated humans with all my being, believing them to be the ones that killed the old Alpha-the root of every tragedy my clan had to face. That had been the case, and it was what molded me into what currently I am: an unrecognizable monster. It wasn't until I met her that everything came unraveling: Sophia.I had seen her first, and it wasn't some fairy tale: no music playing that I was supposed to hear and then gaze deep, soulfully into the middle of a p

  • MY WEREWOLF DESTINY   Chap. 127: A Desperate Search

Xaiver POVBut the wind whips through ruin, carrying with it scents of ash and blood and something worse: despair. I was running through what had once been villages, my paws pounding against the earth, my desperation and heart racing with every stride that brought me closer."Please," I whispered, uttering my first silent prayer to the Moon Goddess. "Let her be safe.".Nothing mattered to me-the amount of wreckage that surrounded me, the smoldering heap of houses that lay there like remnants of burnt towns and anything else, were all carrying huge loads of odor due to this fire. It was so dense in the street that every breath felt choked; I felt all shattered streets silenced as carriers of ghosts of dead people. But nothing mattered anymore. None of it did. Only she did.I growled louder, pressing harder-my claws deep in the dirt-moving me faster toward Sophia's town. Farther in, the worse it got. What once used to be such a peaceful settlement was no more and lay as nothing but rubb

  • MY WEREWOLF DESTINY   Chap. 126: Casting Light into the Deception

Xavier's POVI entered the big hall. Immediately, it was like walking into the boiling pot of tension. My mother sat in her usual chair near the fireplace, clutching a glass of red wine in her hand. She was unreadable, and opposite her sat Cindy-the ever-smiling snake-her dark eyes dancing with humor.I had heard them talking minutes before I came in-whispering something evil, something which concerned her.Sophia.My jaw clenched while taking a few steps forward, my gaze fastened to my mother's serene yet aloof face. "What were you talking about?" My voice came out even, etched with muted anger. She said nothing. She sipped her wine slowly, set the glass down with a soft clink against the wood table. And kept silent. It was driving me mad. Before I could press for more, a low chuckle rose from Cindy. "Ah, Xavier," she said, her frame a pace nearer to mine. "Still so impatient."I whipped toward her in a second, muscles clenching. It was a while since we faced off, yet with only one g

  • MY WEREWOLF DESTINY   Chap. 125: Map of War

Xavier's POVI didn't knock.I'd opened it by a hair, and the doors shut behind me with sufficient force that the sound rang in the room.I was panting with evident effort in rough, stuttering breaths as I gazed at what I beheld. My mother. Cindy. Here by this big wooden table, their hands working over the folds of a map.A map that had been too close to me just made my guts turn to see the concentration of red boils on it.Target zones.I used to study this map—heck, I helped map it.Pre-Sophia.Pre-Sophia and me getting together and my life going to hell. Then I figured that annihilating human settlement was the only way we could be on top. Then Sophia came and reduced all my plans to shambles.I had moved on from all that.Shelved it.And never so much as glanced backward. So how in the devil's name did my mom and Cindy still lingered around it today?I gritted teeth with furious indignation seething in me.I could still feel servants still lingering, hovering as if no one ever mad

  • MY WEREWOLF DESTINY   Chap. 124: The Truth in the Shadows

Xavier's POVHours prior I'd spent with Sophia in the center of what was remaining of her home, my life as good as it was ever going to be.I'd slept more soundly than I'd slept in years.Sophia and I'd been. incredible. the previous evening. It wasn't the sex thing—though that had been insane—it was the chemistry we'd experienced. Something I'd never believed existed prior to this.I never had a moment's doubt she was mine, but the previous night had left her in a position where there were none. She was the whole world to me.I smoothed out my hair loose, a smile tugging at my lips.I wanted to see her.I wanted to have her close. Not wishing to waste another minute, I got up and took a shirt and set out leaving my apartments and looking for her.But as I went down the corridor--Voices.Low and quiet but unmistakable.I went down, straining hard with my ears for the voice of my mother. And Cindy's.My eyebrows flew up, I jerked away from the wall instinctively and listened."Everyth

  • MY WEREWOLF DESTINY   Chap. 123: Mother's Fate

Sophia's POVAsh and smoke hung around.Old home, where I had lived those years ago, when I lived at, oh so long, long, long, long, long ago, was burned: ash was all that was left: charred timber, snapped-up furniture, and shattered glass all over where I ever rested remained, desolation spilling upon me.Chilled to the bone, my hands were shaking, because I couldn't catch my breath, couldn't cling to it.The old fires now were nothing but ash and dust. And my mother.I gritted, the throat shutting over a thudding mass.Where was she?The thought crept through me, twisting in me like some monster and booming insistently at the center of my chest above the curve of my ribs. And then, suddenly—Footsteps.I spun on one heel, braced stance ready to bludgeon, fist slapped around the knife-hand on thigh like on buckler. The screen: vapory wound, face unmistakably familiar.Xavier.Peace storm black.Wound in his strange-to-me plain black, slouching, head thrown back, sneering, fit-on-the-v
