Author: Oh Yeah Oh Yeah
"If the engagement can't be called off, then I'll marry his uncle, Louis Sterling, instead."

I lightly traced the rim of my teacup with my fingertip. My voice was firm and unwavering.

My mother's eyes widened in horror. She quickly covered my mouth and apologized to the Sterlings.

Then she leaned toward me and whispered, "Queenie! What nonsense are you talking about? Louis is practically useless now!"

She glanced at Mr. Sterling Senior, then lowered her voice even further.

"That lunatic was rumored to be impotent even when he was healthy, and now he's disabled! He's always been a cold-blooded killer who wouldn't bat an eye at taking a life. And when he beats someone, he shows absolutely no mercy.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed?"

I gently rubbed her hand, trying to reassure her, and forced a faint smile.

"It's okay, Mom. At this point, it doesn't matter to me who I marry."

An image of Benjamin Sterling and my older sister, Rebecca Beaumont, tangled together in bed involuntarily flashed through my mind.

"Besides, I don't want to be called the other woman anymore."

The moment Mr. Sterling Senior heard that I was going to marry Louis, his expression immediately relaxed. He kept praising me for having such good judgment.

My father lowered his head and apologized. "She's young and was only speaking out of anger. Please don't take it to heart.

"Once we get home, I'll straighten her out and make sure she settles down with Benjamin."

"I disagree." A man slowly wheeled himself out of the room.

"A man should keep his word. Ms. Beaumont just said she would marry me. There's no taking it back now."

The moment my father saw him, he was too terrified to speak. Sweat trickled down his back, soaking through his shirt.

Everyone in Caldwell knew what kind of man Louis was. He was a cold-blooded killer who wouldn't bat an eye at taking a life.

He had killed his stepmother himself and broken both of his uncle's legs.

When my father didn't respond, he spoke again.

"If Ms. Beaumont agrees to this marriage, I'm willing to offer Frostroot and Jadeheart as a gesture of good faith."

There had long been rumors that these two herbal medicines could cure Rebecca's cancer, but despite my father asking everyone he could, he had never managed to find them.

How could he possibly say no when they were right in front of him?

"I agree."

My parents were still hesitating when I spoke up, breaking the silence.

Louis's marriage had long been a major concern for Mr. Sterling Senior.

Now that the matter was finally settled, he clapped his hands in delight and immediately ordered his staff to start making arrangements for the wedding and preparing the wedding gifts.

On the way home, my father asked in confusion, "Quin, haven't you always said you'd never marry anyone but Benjamin?

"What made you change your mind now?"

I turned to look out the window and said nothing.

Everyone called me a shameless slut who had seduced Rebecca's fiancé.

I had been secretly in love with Benjamin since I was a little girl. I was willing to give him everything I had, yet he had never once really looked at me.

When Rebecca was diagnosed with cancer and given little time left to live, the Sterling family demanded that I fulfill my engagement to Benjamin.

The moment I heard the news, I was so overjoyed I nearly fainted. I thought I could finally be with Benjamin.

But on our wedding night, he kicked me out, claiming that his obsession with cleanliness made him unwilling to sleep with me.

Then, as soon as I was gone, he went straight to Rebecca and slept with her in our bridal suite.

"Rebecca, I only married that pathetic simp so I could have a chance to spend every night with you."

It was only then that I realized that, in their eyes, all my sacrifices were nothing more than a joke.

After that, I didn't see Benjamin again for a long time.I thought he had finally come to his senses and would stop bothering me.Little did I know he had become so unhinged that he'd seize the chance to kidnap me.At the end of the year, Louis was buried in work and barely had time to catch his breath.I was bored staying by myself, so I decided to take a trip with Cressida.“Queenie, I’m going to the restroom.” Cressida handed me her bag and left me standing there alone. The next second, someone came up behind me, covered my mouth, and knocked me unconscious. When I opened my eyes again, I found myself in a pitch-black, abandoned basement with not a trace of light."Why did you kidnap me?" I called out into the empty basement.Footsteps echoed through the empty basement. I looked up and saw Benjamin walking toward me."Benjamin! How could you do something like this?"He lifted my chin. "Queenie, you left me no choice. If you had just come back to me willingly, I wouldn't have had to.

After several days apart, Benjamin looked much more haggard. His face was pale and drained of color. He suddenly grabbed my wrist, trying to pull me toward him."Queenie, don't you love me anymore? You don't want me anymore?" His eyes were filled with desperation.I shook his hand off in disgust and moved closer to Louis. "Wake up. I stopped loving you a long time ago.""Impossible!"His face twisted. His eyes bulged as if they were about to pop out, and the corners of his mouth twitched uncontrollably."Queenie, you must be saying this just to get my attention!"You got it! You have my attention now!"He spread his arms wide. "Queenie, come back to me!"Fearing that Benjamin might hurt me again, Louis stepped in front of me."It's all because of you! You're the one who took my Queenie away from me!"Benjamin completely lost control. He swung his fist at Louis, trying to knock him to the ground, but Louis shoved him down instead."Security, get this lunatic out of here."Several securi

I never expected Louis to come pick me up himself. He sat in the back seat in a black suit, every crease in his clothes looking perfectly deliberate. His broad chest filled out his shirt, and I stared at him through the window, stunned and unable to look away."Done staring?" Louis suddenly asked. "If you're done, get in."He got out of the car and opened the door for me. With a deft pinch of his thumb and forefinger, he slipped off his glove, then took my hand and helped me into the car."You?" I was a little shocked. "Aren't you...""It was all an act." He gazed into my eyes and said tenderly."I have to put on an act for outsiders, but with my own wife, there's no need to pretend."I looked at Louis, a faint smile playing on his lips. He didn't seem as cold-blooded and unhinged as everyone said."At least he still smiles at me. He can't be that bad." I silently reassured myself. The car pulled into the Sterling residence, and I was stunned by the sheer luxury before me.From the fou

Benjamin's eyes darkened as he followed the sound."Harder... mmm... that feels so good."Rebecca's voice drifted over, sultry in a way he had never heard from her before. The two of them were tangled up together, completely absorbed in each other. Neither of them noticed Benjamin standing nearby."Who makes you feel better, me or him?"The man was breathing heavily as he asked the same question again and again. The voice sounded vaguely familiar. It was his good friend, Maxwell Xander!"Why bring up that miserable man at a time like this?" Rebecca's voice grew even more coy and coquettish."If he found out you came to the party just to sneak around with me, do you think he'd lose his mind?"Hearing that, Benjamin instinctively clenched his fists. His entire body tensed and trembled. He had assumed Rebecca had insisted on coming to the party to stake her claim in front of everyone. He never imagined she had come to cheat on him with his own good friend."He deserves it. He's hardly eve

Benjamin spent the next few days out having fun with Rebecca. On the surface, he catered to her every whim, buying her whatever she wanted and taking her wherever she wanted to go.But deep down, he was slowly growing tired of her.He gradually realized that she was no longer the innocent, kind-hearted girl she used to be.She had become arrogant, materialistic, greedy, and fake. It made him question whether he had made the right choice. No matter what it was, she always insisted on buying the most expensive and the best.If even the slightest thing failed to meet her expectations, she would fly into a rage and hurl whatever was within reach at the household staff.Benjamin had to admit that when he learned Rebecca had recovered, he had been genuinely overjoyed. He had pictured the wonderful life they would have together. At the same time, he felt guilty about how he had treated Queenie. He had been in such a foul mood lately that he'd often taken his frustration out on her and mistrea

I didn't tell anyone about my hospitalization because I was afraid my mother would worry. While I was in the hospital, Benjamin actually came to visit me on his own for once."I'll marry you, but only on the condition that you stop hurting Rebecca."He handed me a jewelry box. Inside was the bracelet I had liked that day."You don't have to." I gave a faint smile. "You and Rebecca are much bet—"Before I could finish, the sudden sound of the door opening cut me off."Isn't this the bracelet I threw in the trash? How did it end up here?"She looked at me mockingly."Queenie, if you like digging through trash so much, I'll just throw things straight to you next time. That way, no one will have to see the Beaumont family's second daughter rummaging through the trash and embarrassing herself!"I used every ounce of strength I had to keep the smile on my face. My fingernails dug deep grooves into my palms, and beads of blood seeped between my fingers."Benjamin, let's go."Rebecca shot me a
