Chapter 4

Author: Oh Yeah Oh Yeah
I didn't tell anyone about my hospitalization because I was afraid my mother would worry.

While I was in the hospital, Benjamin actually came to visit me on his own for once.

"I'll marry you, but only on the condition that you stop hurting Rebecca."

He handed me a jewelry box. Inside was the bracelet I had liked that day.

"You don't have to." I gave a faint smile. "You and Rebecca are much bet—"

Before I could finish, the sudden sound of the door opening cut me off.

"Isn't this the bracelet I threw in the trash? How did it end up here?"

She looked at me mockingly.

"Queenie, if you like digging through trash so much, I'll just throw things straight to you next time. That way, no one will have to see the Beaumont family's second daughter rummaging through the trash and embarrassing herself!"

I used every ounce of strength I had to keep the smile on my face. My fingernails dug deep grooves into my palms, and beads of blood seeped between my fingers.

"Benjamin, let's go."

Rebecca shot me a disdainful look. "There's a nasty smell in here."

Benjamin said nothing more. He simply took Rebecca by the hand and led her away.

Before I had even fully recovered, I received the news that my mother had broken a bone.

I rushed to the hospital. Seeing my mother lying motionless in the hospital bed, tears began to fall before I even realized it.

"Mom, did Rebecca hurt you again?" I asked, my voice trembling.

Ever since Rebecca came into our family, she had constantly bullied my mother. She claimed my mother was the reason my father hadn't been able to be with her mother. She called my mother a shameless homewrecker.

But the truth was that her mother had run off with another man, abandoning my father.

For years, I had stood up for my mother. Yet whenever she got hurt, she would always smile and tell me it was okay.

I found Rebecca and demanded to know why she had hurt my mother.

She said nonchalantly, "Because I felt like it. I don't like her, so I pushed her.

"What? You got a problem with that?"

I slapped her hard across the face. Then I grabbed her by the neck and warned her never to hurt my mother again.

"Queenie, how long are you going to keep this up?"

Benjamin suddenly appeared and pulled Rebecca away from me.

"Benjamin, thank God you got here in time." Tears glimmered in Rebecca's eyes as she looked at him helplessly.

"Otherwise, Queenie would've strangled me to death. She said that only after I was dead could she marry you openly."

"Queenie."

Benjamin stomped hard on my chest. "I told you to stop provoking Rebecca.

"I'll let you off this time, but next time, I'll make you pay!"

When Rebecca took over as president of Beaumont Group, my father forced me to attend the ceremony.

The moment Rebecca saw me, a mysterious smile flickered across her face.

"Queenie is incredibly talented. She's also an excellent violinist. Why don't we have her perform for everyone today?"

She put me on the spot by making the suggestion in front of everyone.

Under my father's threatening gaze, I walked toward the stage.

The moment I stepped onto it, a car suddenly came crashing through the building's glass facade and slammed into me.

As I slipped into unconsciousness, I heard Rebecca coo sweetly to Benjamin. "Benjamin, I'm scared. Let's get out of here.

"Don't worry about Queenie. If she hasn't cried out in pain, she must be fine!"

I watched the two of them walk away before losing consciousness.

When I woke up again, my mother was the only one by my side.

"Quin, Mom's here. Don't be afraid," she said, trying to comfort me.

I managed a faint smile, shook my head, and told her I was fine.

"As soon as Louis heard what happened to you, he immediately brought in the best doctor in the world to treat you.

"Maybe Louis isn't as terrifying as everyone says."

I looked out the window without saying a word.

Whether he was terrifying or not no longer mattered.

The day I returned to our new home to pack my things and leave, I discovered that my belongings had already been packed up and thrown outside.

The house was now filled with Rebecca's things.

The walls were covered with pictures of the two of them, including their wedding photos.

I called Benjamin because I wanted an explanation, but he didn't answer.

A moment later, he posted a photo of the two of them on social media.

In the photo, Rebecca was kissing Benjamin on the cheek, and they were both smiling happily.

Tears welled up in my eyes, but I had sworn I would never cry over him again.

"Louis, come get me."

Benjamin, if you didn't want to see me, then you'd never have to see me again.

After that, I didn't see Benjamin again for a long time.I thought he had finally come to his senses and would stop bothering me.Little did I know he had become so unhinged that he'd seize the chance to kidnap me.At the end of the year, Louis was buried in work and barely had time to catch his breath.I was bored staying by myself, so I decided to take a trip with Cressida.“Queenie, I’m going to the restroom.” Cressida handed me her bag and left me standing there alone. The next second, someone came up behind me, covered my mouth, and knocked me unconscious. When I opened my eyes again, I found myself in a pitch-black, abandoned basement with not a trace of light."Why did you kidnap me?" I called out into the empty basement.Footsteps echoed through the empty basement. I looked up and saw Benjamin walking toward me."Benjamin! How could you do something like this?"He lifted my chin. "Queenie, you left me no choice. If you had just come back to me willingly, I wouldn't have had to.

After several days apart, Benjamin looked much more haggard. His face was pale and drained of color. He suddenly grabbed my wrist, trying to pull me toward him."Queenie, don't you love me anymore? You don't want me anymore?" His eyes were filled with desperation.I shook his hand off in disgust and moved closer to Louis. "Wake up. I stopped loving you a long time ago.""Impossible!"His face twisted. His eyes bulged as if they were about to pop out, and the corners of his mouth twitched uncontrollably."Queenie, you must be saying this just to get my attention!"You got it! You have my attention now!"He spread his arms wide. "Queenie, come back to me!"Fearing that Benjamin might hurt me again, Louis stepped in front of me."It's all because of you! You're the one who took my Queenie away from me!"Benjamin completely lost control. He swung his fist at Louis, trying to knock him to the ground, but Louis shoved him down instead."Security, get this lunatic out of here."Several securi

I never expected Louis to come pick me up himself. He sat in the back seat in a black suit, every crease in his clothes looking perfectly deliberate. His broad chest filled out his shirt, and I stared at him through the window, stunned and unable to look away."Done staring?" Louis suddenly asked. "If you're done, get in."He got out of the car and opened the door for me. With a deft pinch of his thumb and forefinger, he slipped off his glove, then took my hand and helped me into the car."You?" I was a little shocked. "Aren't you...""It was all an act." He gazed into my eyes and said tenderly."I have to put on an act for outsiders, but with my own wife, there's no need to pretend."I looked at Louis, a faint smile playing on his lips. He didn't seem as cold-blooded and unhinged as everyone said."At least he still smiles at me. He can't be that bad." I silently reassured myself. The car pulled into the Sterling residence, and I was stunned by the sheer luxury before me.From the fou

Benjamin's eyes darkened as he followed the sound."Harder... mmm... that feels so good."Rebecca's voice drifted over, sultry in a way he had never heard from her before. The two of them were tangled up together, completely absorbed in each other. Neither of them noticed Benjamin standing nearby."Who makes you feel better, me or him?"The man was breathing heavily as he asked the same question again and again. The voice sounded vaguely familiar. It was his good friend, Maxwell Xander!"Why bring up that miserable man at a time like this?" Rebecca's voice grew even more coy and coquettish."If he found out you came to the party just to sneak around with me, do you think he'd lose his mind?"Hearing that, Benjamin instinctively clenched his fists. His entire body tensed and trembled. He had assumed Rebecca had insisted on coming to the party to stake her claim in front of everyone. He never imagined she had come to cheat on him with his own good friend."He deserves it. He's hardly eve

Benjamin spent the next few days out having fun with Rebecca. On the surface, he catered to her every whim, buying her whatever she wanted and taking her wherever she wanted to go.But deep down, he was slowly growing tired of her.He gradually realized that she was no longer the innocent, kind-hearted girl she used to be.She had become arrogant, materialistic, greedy, and fake. It made him question whether he had made the right choice. No matter what it was, she always insisted on buying the most expensive and the best.If even the slightest thing failed to meet her expectations, she would fly into a rage and hurl whatever was within reach at the household staff.Benjamin had to admit that when he learned Rebecca had recovered, he had been genuinely overjoyed. He had pictured the wonderful life they would have together. At the same time, he felt guilty about how he had treated Queenie. He had been in such a foul mood lately that he'd often taken his frustration out on her and mistrea
