Diego’s POV

Kamara looked pale from where she sat, I can almost guess that she didn’t have a good sleep. After she stormed off away from me last night, it felt like all of the alcohol faded with her exit. Her words kept playing repeatedly in my head and I knew I had to make it up to her. Walking towards the dining table, I sat opposite her watching her keenly. As expected, the moment she sensed my presence, she stood up and took her food along with her. Watching her receding back, I sighed heavily, leaning into the chair.

“What would you like to have, sir?” the chef asked.

“What is Kamara having?”

“eggs and avocado toast.”

“Make me that too and bring it to the room, she works in,” I instructed standing up. “But black coffee first.”

“Will be right with you sir.” She bowed slightly, excusing herself.

Making my way to Kamara’s room workshop, I leaned against the door frame watching her in amusement as she wolfed down her plate. She kept stuffing her mouth as if she had a meal deadline. C

  • Mafia Diego's Surrogate    Chapter 83

Kamara’s POVDiego was gone by the time I woke up. Despite his absence, his warmth and scent clung to me. Last night, I felt at ease in his arms. We ate together and just stayed still, not saying anything. I never knew silence could be so comforting. Sitting up with my hand on my belly, I looked around the room cluelessly. My emotions seemed to have dissolved overnight. Nothing is coming to mind at the moment. Taking a deep breath, I reached for my phone. A small smile played on my lips at the messages on it. One was from Nana. She sent a good morning text accompanied by a sunrise image. How she gets to do things like a young person would forever amuse me. The other one was Diego telling me to rest and not think about anything, assuring me he would be back as early as possible. My toes curled in excitement. Diego is doing a good job of making me quite comfortable around him. Had to shake the thoughts creeping into my mind. I can’t get carried away. Yesterday was a vulnerable moment

  • Mafia Diego's Surrogate    Chapter 82

Diego’s POVMy neck felt stiff. Standing up from the chair, I stretched myself and I could hear my bones cackling. Checking the time, a sneaky smile crossed my lips. It’s almost dinner time I would need to start going home now before Kamara eats without me. I only started the trend a few days ago, but I am beginning to enjoy it.What I do is call the house to know what she desires to eat discreetly. Then I reach out to the chef in my restaurant who makes amazing dishes by the way to make what she wants then I take it home. Even though she doesn’t say much, the surprise on her face is always evident. I like that she always enjoys the meals. While she eats I get to sit and just watch her. Sometimes, she shares. The act is slowly beginning to interest me a lot. It makes me feel closer to her in my own way. Don’t know how to explain it, but she is changing me. With that in mind, I reached for my phone and dialed the house. “Diego Sanchez's house.” The help said on the other end. “It's

  • Mafia Diego's Surrogate    Chapter 81

Kamara’s POVStaring at my image in the mirror, I didn't seem familiar. Not because the face has changed much. Aside from the eye bags and puffed cheeks, I look okay. But my growing bump makes me feel like an entirely different person. From my hormones to my food cravings and sleeping patterns. I get tired most days and the times that I have a lot of energy, I find it unbelievable. A small smile tugged at the corner of my lips. Maybe it would have been nice if I were doing this with someone that I could be with. Probably I would give myself the chance to get used to this. When it seemed like I was turning ugly in the mirror, I went to sit on the bed. I do not feel like working today. There was no motivation within me. I am finding it really hard to get my thoughts together today. I want to go on a walk or go for a drive. Away from this place. And if I can, away from the pregnancy. Most importantly away from Diego. I do not like how I have been feeling lately, he is making me harbo

  • Mafia Diego's Surrogate    Chapter 79

Kamara’s POVComing back home, I thought I was going to find Diego blowing fire in the living room to know where I had been. But to my surprise, he was nowhere to be found. I asked the helpers in the house and they said he hasn’t been in the house since he left in the morning. Made me wonder why he sent the text then. It felt urgent. I contemplated whether to call him or not. Chances are it might be a mistake, so I decided to wait it out until he puts a call through himself.I was just glad that I got away from Brandon at the moment I needed it the most. Who would have thought Diego could come in handy like that? The rest of the day went by peacefully. I was able to eat my snacks and draw out new designs without issues. It made me feel fulfilled. After a while that I got tired, I checked my phone and lingered on my siblings' contact. Contemplating if I should reach out or not. I have to admit that I miss my family every now and then. But when I think it through, they left me to bear t

  • Mafia Diego's Surrogate    Chapter 78

Kamara’s POVMy eyes popped out in excitement when they landed on the Oreo cookies on the display shelf. Before now it wasn't a thing of interest for me. But pregnancy has taught me the true meaning of never say never. Stretching my hand forth to grab about five of them at once. Someone next to me reached for the exact same one and I got mad. “Excuse me. Do you not…..” My words trailed off when my eyes met Brandon’s. He had a wholesome smirk on his face as he dropped two of the cookies into my shopping cart. He stared at the cart's contents in amusement. “Wow! Are you planning to open up your own snack store? Aren't those too much?”Glancing down at the cart, I furrowed my brows to understand what he was talking about. Scrunching up my nose, I analyzed the whole thing. Just a few cookies, chocolate bars, and chips. “They don’t look much to me.” I mused with a pout. “In fact, this is me being cautious of my sugar intake. Now if you will excuse me.” I sniffled, pushing my cart away
