009. Afterlife?

Donald's POV

After 5 minutes, the hall brightened up. But littered with people running here and there. The uprouse were tried to be controlled by security guards, directing those kids to safety, likewise the adults.

On the stage was the Lady laying upon Reverend Thompson. Sister Jane was too shocked to approach them and the other sisters nearby. As I saw that father was lifeless, I sprinted over to him and yanked that disgusting girl away.

"Father! Father!! Father!!!" Reverend Thompson coughed out on the third call.

I sagged to the ground, my heart full of gratitude.

As she lay motionless on the ground, Sister Jane hovered on her and kept patting her cheeks repeatedly.

"Ms. Davis!"

"Ms. Davis, get up!" She spoke tensely.

The Lady was still sessile upon all Sis Jane's attempts, however, Sister Jane suddenly let out a startled gasp as she noticed four syringes affixed to the Lady's neck. As she was pulling it out, she continues to gasp in terror

I shoved my phone out. "I'll dial 119 now!" I immediately dialed and spoke with them.

I paced back and forth, forming pretend.

"I will administer a gastrointestinal respiration to aid her for the time being," I said, giving them a reassuring smile.

Faster, I prostrated her and try my best to fake that I was performing the aid on her.

"Was she murdered?" Reverend Thompson spoke as soon as he found his voice.

He received a positive nod from me as I continued the deed deftly. "It seems so. Don't panic, the securities are on the lookout and the ambulance will arrive soon."

Some minutes later, the ambulance arrived and the girl was led into it by two medical experts. Well, my disguised SWs.

Reverend Thompson stopped me just as I was about to get into the ambulance. "Mr. Donald, you may back off from here. Sister Jane and Sister Liana will go as her guardian."

I immediately reached for Reverend Thompson's hands, gently held them, and sincerely gazed into his eyes.

"Father, you and the Sisters should attend to those kids. I've called the police and they will be here soon. For a lady to be attacked out of the blue, she needs security and a man to stay beside her. Why put those sisters at such risk?" I urged him sincerely.

"I volunteer to be her guardian. I will report to you as everything goes." I hurried through my words to leave the man with no other choice.

"You're such a generous young man," he said and gave me a loving glance. He gently grasped my hands and whispered a word of prayer in my ear.

Melissa's POV

I opened my eyes as a beautiful breeze struck my body. It seemed as though I was refraining from the willingness to wake up. Eventually, I opened my eyes. But rushed out of the bed as soon as the awareness of what happened to me hit my tiny head.

"Oh! My good—!" My edgy voice went rolling back as multiple breezes stroked across my face.

It seemed as though I was dreaming. I prowled and cast a bewildering glance around the vicinity I found myself. Alone, I was by myself on the rooftop of an unknown resident. Behind me was the King-sized bed which I rushed out from. Above my head, were galaxies of bright stars glowing in the moonless dark sky.

If not for the two luxury lamps by the bed, I would not have noticed how dark it was up there.

I seriously doubt my eyes. This might only be a fantasy rather than reality.

The last thing I remembered was my time at the Annual Conference. I was celebrating and dancing with those children.

What happened next? Why am I here alone in this eerie yet stunning place?

"Anyone here?!!" I shouted. My voice came back to me like an echo.

I tried to recall how I got here. Then, it occurred to me, I was about to protect the Priest when I suddenly passed out.

Jeez! I gasped into my palm.

Back at the Event Hall. Sister Jane and I were behind the priest as he gave the congregation the prayer of thanksgiving. I sighted two Snipers, targeting their Guns at the Priest.

My body could not hold up again. The Priest would lose his life if he stay there a minute more. Who would execute the Priest and why? A saintly man who breathes life and hope into defenseless youngsters.

My heart ached. I must do something to protect this man and those children at all costs. As I saw that they were about to shoot the gun. I ran to him. The only way to protect him was to ensure they missed their target.

My eyes calculated the seconds I have left to guard him. With 5 seconds moves, I could save a life! Immediately, I threw my entire life in line to save him.

As I count down my time… then total blackout was what I saw next.

Holy crap! Rather than shoving him away… I shielded him instead?!

What the f*ck mistake have I done?!

'Wait!' My body flinched as I reprocessed all that I'd done. I had passed out just to open my eyes to this freaking place.

Was I dead? Was this place my afterlife?!

I started pacing about in frustration. Talking nonstop like a mad woman.

I've heard that each person's soul has an afterlife when they pass away. I wrote that fiction in one of my books too… that mind of life real?!

So, I died sacrificing my life for that Priest?

Omg!!! I squelched to my knees warily.

This must be a dream!!! I shook my head in disbelief.

I was completely in awe when a malicious laugh caught my ears. "Ha...Ha...Ha…!"

It made me look up from the way I soberly cupped my face. A man was standing a distance from me with an intent laughing vilely. standing behind me and laughing intently. The moment I saw his face, the creases on my forehead furrowed as I recognized the man.

He was that obnoxious Old Man from the highway.

What was he doing here? I glared at him with disgust.

Was he also dead because cars crushed him to death as he lay lifeless on the road?

No! That couldn't be so. That jerk had driven after me like a lunatic. Maybe he had a fatal accident and since I was the one who killed him, we both ended ourselves in this afterlife.

Melissa!!! Simultaneously as my instinct called me out of my overbearing thought, a hard punch hit my face and I slumped to the floor helplessly.

I felt feeble, as though all my strength was drained out of me. This oldie was still laughing and I feel like throwing up from that filthy hand that was laid on my face.

Before I registered anything, his virulent hand grabbed my hair, pulling me along with him as my body scraped against the tiled floor.

"I hate touching females but not an as$hole like you. I will teach you the f*cking lesson you lack!!!" He said it with grief.

I spit out blood, struggling to pull his hand off my hair but I was too weak. Too weak to avenge. I couldn't believe that afterlife could make one weak.

"Ouch!" I groaned, the pain I was feeling in my head was hellish.

"You are as dead as death itself, Kid!" He snorted.
