“Charlotte, Natalia will surely be delighted to see you,” Sylus suddenly said to me.

I furrowed my brows while looking at him, making it look like I was still not aware of his daughter with Charlotte, “N-Natalia?”

“Yes, she is our daughter. But she is not here yet, I’ll let you meet her later.”

“I-I have a daughter?”

“Yes, we do. She’s already five years old now.”

I shook my head, my eyes scanning the unfamiliar room frantically, “I-I don’t remember having a child at all. A-And I am not your wife, okay? My name is Amelia Castro.”

His expression softened as he looked at me,“I understand, babe. Just like what the doctor said a while ago, you lost your memories because of the plane crash and it will take you a long amount of time before remembering everything again,” he reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair behind my ear, his touch sending shivers down my spine. “ I will help you remember everything. If we have to start all over again, then we’ll do it. What’s important is that you’re already here again and we’re going to live as a whole family again.”

That is right. He asked a doctor to come to his mansion to check me. Little did he know that my family has already talked to that doctor, too. My father probably told the doctor to tell Sylus that I really had an amnesia.

“For now, why don’t you change your clothes first then I’ll tour you around the house?”

I slowly nodded my head, “A-Alright. M-May I know where my room is?”

Sylus suddenly chuckled, “You mean, our bedroom? Sure. Follow me.”

As I stood u, I felt my heart started beating so fast from the thought of me sleeping on the same bed with Sylus.

“This is our bedroom. The door on the right is your walk-in closet and beside that is mine. That door on the left is our bathroom. You may check this out if you want. Maybe it would help you remember the things about us. I’ll wait for you downstairs,” Sylus said as he left me inside the bedroom.

As he closed the door and left, I let out a deep sigh of relief.

Gosh.

I didn’t know the first day would be this hard already.  I know it should be easier since I don’t have to act like I know everything about Charlotte Greene and everything that she used to do, but merely dealing with that mafia boss makes my head hurt already.

I roamed my eyes around the room. I suddenly saw a huge wedding portrait of him with Charlotte Greene hanging on the wall. They looked so sweet in their wedding portrait. Sylus had his arms wrapped around Charlotte’s waist as they gazed into each other’s eyes. Charlotte’s face was tilted upwards, her lips slightly parted as if anticipating a kiss. Sylus’ expression was adoring, his eyes filled with love and devotion.

Then I looked at Charlotte again. I have to pretend as her for quite a long time. I took a deep breath, trying to commit every detail about the portrait to my memory. The way Sylus’ eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled, the way Charlotte’s blonde hair cascaded down her back. I suddenly felt a sense of unease wash over me.

How could I  even possibly pull off being this woman?

***

I didn’t really had that much time to look around Sylus and his wife’s bedroom, but for sure I would have some time for it in the following days, anyway.

I took a bath and changed into Charlotte’s clothes. I decided to wear her red off-shoulder dress which falls down above my knee. I guess I have to get used to wearing short dresses from now on since Charlotte loves wearing them so much. I put on some light make up and let my hair down before I decided to go downstairs to meet Sylus again.

A huge smile appeared on his face upon seeing me. He stood up as he spoke, “You’re so beautiful, babe. That dress really suits you. That was the one that you actually wore during our first day of honeymoon.”

Dang it.

I forced a smile on my face, “T-Thanks…”

“So, let’s go? I will tour you around the house.”

“O-Okay…”

I just followed him as he started walking around the house. As I followed him, I couldn’t help but notice the intricate details of the mansion. The high ceilings, the lavish chandeliers, and the priceless artwork on the walls all spoke of opulence and grandeur. No wonder their family is really wealthy.

Sylus pointed out various rooms and objects, sharing stories and anecdotes about their life together. He showed me the library, the music room, and even the private cinema where based on him, was their favorite place to bond as a family.

“This is our garden,” Sylus said, his eyes gazing fondly at the flowers. “ This where we had our first date. You were wearing a pink dress that night and we even argued because you were jealous of another woman. You didn’t even want to talk to me, but then your expression changed when you saw those pink roses around us. You smiled, and your eyes sparkled. I knew right then that I was hooked.” He chuckled, his voice low and husky. “You’ve always loved this garden. Even when you were pregnant with Natalia, you would sit out here for hours, looking at the flowers and talking to them like they were your friends.”

I listened to Sylus’ story, trying to memorize every detail. I looked around the garden, taking in the beauty of the flowers, “I-It’s beautiful here. I can see why I’d want to spend time here.”

Sylus nodded his head, “That’s for sure. You love flowers so much. You love them so much that there was even one time when I got jealous of them. It was because you sometimes want to be in this garden that be with me in our room. In the end, I will just join you here.”

"Good morning, babe," the moment I woke up and opened my eyes, I immediately saw Sylus' smiling face in front of me. I quickly averted my gaze from him the moment I recalled what happened last night between the two of us. "M-Morning," I replied, pulling the blanket up to cover my body as if Sylus didn't see it all night long. I heard him chuckle. "It's too early in the morning to be blushing like that, babe." My eyes widened as I put my hands on my face. "I-I'm not blushing..." "Yes, you are. Looks like you remember what happened last night, huh?" "O-Of course, not..." "It's alright, babe. I can still remember it, too. And I want it to remain in my mind all year long." I glared at him. "S-Sylus!" "The breakfast is already served, babe. Let's go downstairs already." "I-I will take a bath first." "We can do that later." "W-What?" He looked at me nonchalantly, "We can take a bath together later. You can just put on any clothes then have our breakfast first bef

  • Mafia King's Substitute Wife   CHAPTER 63: FIRST TIME

Slowly, I moved my face close to Sylus. He was just staring back at me, waiting for my next steps. I could feel my heart beating so fast as I stood on my toes and put both of my hands on his shoulders before I closed my eyes and pressed my lips against his. Sylus's lips were warm, firm, and tasted like whiskey and desire. He didn't move at first, like he was letting me lead. Then his arms wrapped around me, pulling me closer. The kiss was deep, hungry, like we were both starving for it. I felt like I was losing myself in him, in the taste of his lips, in the way he was holding me like I'd disappear if he let go. He pushed me back onto the bed, his body over mine. The kiss didn't break, like we were both afraid to breathe. I felt the weight of him, the heat of his skin through the thin shirt he wore. My heart was pounding so loud I was sure he'd hear it. Sylus's lips left mine, trailed down my neck. I felt shivers, like my whole body was alive. "Charlotte," he whispered,

The clock ticked past 2 AM. The suite was quiet, except for the soft hum of Sylus's laptop in the office room. I was lying in bed, pretending to sleep, but my eyes were fixed on the door. Finally, the office door opened. Sylus came out, looking exhausted but focused. He headed straight to the bathroom without looking at me. I heard the sound of water running, then the rustle of clothes. Sylus came out of the bathroom, wearing just a towel around his waist. He walked to the closet, his back to me. I decided to try talking to him. "Sylus?" I said, my voice soft. He didn't turn around. "Hmm?" he replied, his tone neutral. I sat up in bed, feeling a spark of frustration. "Can we talk?" I asked. Sylus pulled on a pair of sweatpants, still not looking at me. "Not now, Charlotte. I'm tired." I felt a sting. He was still avoiding me. I lay back down, trying to process things. But I wasn't going to let it go that easily. A few minutes passed. Sylus got into bed, careful not

Carmine's POVI let out a deep sigh as soon as Sylus stepped out of our room. I still can't forget what he just told me. He said he was really suspicious of me. He even told me we would go back to my doctor to ask about the things that he is being suspicious about. Now I have to think of a better excuse for him not to go to a different doctor. If he does that, for sure I'm doomed."How did he find out about you going to a bar?" Luke asked me over the phone. Ever since he found out about my plan and real motive, Luke Greene became the one I always call whenever Sylus does something that would make him find out about my plan."He surely hired a private investigator for it. He is a mafia boss, it's not impossible for him to do that.""You're right. Then you have to be extra careful. Sylus is smart, and he always wants to get what he wants. Make sure you never let your guard down."I nodded my head as if Luke could actually see me. "I understand.""Also, you have to delete every conversa

  • Mafia King's Substitute Wife   CHAPTER 60: BELIEVING HER

I leaned back in my chair, sipping my coffee as I watched Charlotte walk into the dining hall. She looked like a ray of sunshine, her smile bright and carefree. But I knew better. I knew she was hiding something.I'd been suspicious for a while, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. That was until I got the call from the private investigator I'd hired to dig into Charlotte's whereabouts for the past few weeks. I learned she always go to this apartment where an old lady resides at. But it was the phone that really caught my attention. The one she claimed she lost at the restaurant where they celebrated their parents' anniversary. I had my doubts, so I asked my assistant to check the restaurant's CCTV footage. And what I found out was that Charlotte didn't even lose her phone there.I felt a pang of disappointment, mixed with curiosity. What was she hiding? And why?I decided to dig deeper, to see if I could find any leads on where she might have actually lost the phone. I asked my

  • Mafia King's Substitute Wife   CHAPTER 59: QUESTIONS

I woke up to an empty bed, the sheets beside me cold and rumpled. I sat up, rubbing my eyes, and looked around the room. No sign of Sylus. I wondered where he could be. I got out of bed and quickly got dressed, deciding to grab some breakfast downstairs. Maybe Sylus was waiting for me in the dining hall. As I walked into the hotel's dining hall, I spotted Sylus sitting at a table by the window, talking to someone on his phone. He glanced up, saw me, and his expression turned cold. He looked away, focusing back on his conversation. I felt a pang of confusion. What was wrong? I walked over to the buffet, grabbing some pastries and coffee, trying to look nonchalant. As I made my way to the table, Sylus ended his call and looked up at me. His eyes were guarded, and he didn't smile like he usually did. "Morning," I said, trying to sound cheerful as I sat down across from him. Sylus nodded, his expression neutral. "Morning." The tension was palpable, and I didn't like it. What
