The Auction

I wiped the tears off my face, then slowly walked out of the car. Vector was standing on the other side, his gaze focused as the reporters flocked around him, talking about his company and a few other things that I didn't even know about or understand.

He took my hand once I came next to him, and I felt a small shudder run down my spine. His hand was cold, just like his demeanour, and he held me tight, like he thought I would get lost in the crowd.

He pulled me a little closer, and his hand wrapped around my waist instead, fitting just as well as it had a year ago. I turned to him, but he was towering above me, shielding me from the blinding lights, his presence just as protective as it was absolute danger. He was the disease. He was the cure. The danger and the protector, all in one.

I swallowed hard as we walked down the red carpet, then up the stairs towards the large event. It turned out to be a massive auction event meant to raise charity for children education.
