Ch. 3: Supernatural Portals give me the creeps.

"Emmersyn, this is Jarek." Ajax stated interrupting my saddened thoughts.

I looked up and saw a red haired freckled gorgeous man. He was just as tall as Ajax but with a leaner frame. His smirk let me know he noticed me checking him out. I whipped my head back over to Ajax. He had a matching smirk. Jerks.

"Be careful with her or Ill skin you alive." I growled slowly standing and grabbing my bag. I was always packed and ready to run. "I need to say my good-byes and then I will be ready."

Without waiting I walked over to Rosie's shack she had built from egg cartons and all the plastic she could find. She swore that the Styrofoam and plastic made the best protection from all elements but I disagreed when I saw her ass sweating in the heat this last summer.

"Rosie?" I knocked lightly. "I need a favor."

She poked her cute little head out. She just dyed her short grey hair green and learned to spike it like our friend Ronnie did. "What's up, buttercup?"

"These guys over there are going to take Freya and I somewhere important." I gave her a small smile letting her know I was ok. "I need you to get in contact with Craken down at the iron shop and tell him you need someone here while I am away."

She stepped out of the tent and barreled into me. Who knew an eighty-year-old human could almost knock ya over with just a hug? Lesson learned.

"How long will you be gone?" She stepped back but kept her hands on my arms. "Will it cost anything? I don't have much and I need a new blanket."

Shit, I was supposed to get everyone blankets with my next check. "I will send everyone here a blanket as soon as I get settled in." I looked back at the guys and gave them a pointed look. They looked startled but nodded. I hope they knew they just agreed to give out blankets to everyone here.

"Thank you but you didn't answer my other questions. Don't try to pull that crap with old Rosie."

"Ok." I laughed. "I don't know how long we will be gone. I just know I have to go. I may have some family left after all. And Craken won't charge you anything as long as you tell him it’s for us. If he does give you trouble let him know you know how to make Freya’s favorite snack and you might share the recipe."

She smiled down at Freya and patted his head. "She doesn't like him huh?" She laughed. "I’ll make sure to rub in how close we are."

"Good." I gave her one last hug and said my good-byes. I could see the others coming out of their houses and tents now looking around. "Sorry about the mess. These guys are gonna have some others get rid of the bodies and they will be able to answer any questions you have. I will see you all soon."

I walked back to the guys grinning while they glared. "We never said we would do anything with blankets or body removal."

"I heard what I heard. You both are such great guys. Thank you." I patted their shoulders smirking. "Now let's get this show on the road. I have a grandpa I'd like to question... I mean get to know."

“Yea we will be keeping our eyes on you.” Ajax stated looking a bit annoyed. “Now hurry up. The on site vet is waiting for us.”

He left after opening a portal and just walking through like it was nothing. Jarek waiting for my shock to wear off and gave me a brief overview on how to use a portal. He said it was easy as walking through a door. I had my doubts and it seemed Freya did too when she started up a fuss in his arms. He gave a quick bye and rushed through the portal.

“Here goes nothing.” I took a deep breath and took the portal at a run. Less of a chance to get stuck which is what kept popping into my head.

Neither of the guys spoke other than to tell me where to walk and what to do when walking through the portal. I went with it letting them think this was all new to me. They didn't need to know about my supernatural knowledge or how many I knew who were supernatural’s in the human world.
