Rayne gasped, then stopped the healing. Aarshon followed by putting his hands down.

“What the hell is that?” Sage asked when she dropped her mom’s hand.

“It is part of the poison that they gave her. We need to take the clothes off. The black substance will stick to her clothes, then soak back into her skin. Slyven can you please get a bowl with warm water in it? Sage, can you help by getting some scissors?” Sage moved off the bed to find a pair of scissors. Slyven walked back in with a bowl and a rag. Sage came back in with the scissors. They worked to get the clothes off. Aarshon went to the kitchen to get a trash bag.

“Sage carefully clean her skin,” Rayne told her once they were able to get all the clothes off. Slyven left the room to allow Nix some privacy. Sage worked to clean Nix’s face off, but the tar kept leaking out of her skin.

“Willow should be here soon. She wi

She looked up to see the stars winking down at her. The howl weaved a spell around her. Willow walked as if in a trance toward the trees. The wolf howled to bring her closer. As she stood in front of the large gray wolf, she went to her knees. Fresh tears trailed down her cheeks. Falling Feather shifted into a man again, fresh scars trailing down his chest. Willow couldn’t stop the tears, the joy at seeing him alive. How had he survived the battle, the arrows?“Weeping Willow, I have hunted for you.” He told her, and all Willow could do was cry. When he came to her, Willow welcomed him. Her fur hit the surrounding ground. Willow felt the night breeze caress her skin. Falling Feather moved toward her, going to his knees. The heat coming off his body made Willow lean toward him. He pulled her into him, letting her take his heat. Willow looked up into his eyes, and she knew what love was.“I thought you died,” Willow whis

“I have a feeling the child is going to come sooner than we expected. It is too soon!” Willow felt the tears streaming down her face. Falling Feather held her in his arms as she cried for the child that she might never see grow up. Pain moved through her again, and Willow cried out this time. Falling Feather picked her up, moving her to the furs. When he stood up, he went to get the midwife. Normally, that would have been Willow, but tonight it was Blooming Flower.“It is too soon for the child to come.” Blooming Flower told them. She knelt beside Willow to lift the dress. When she did, she watched Willow’s water break. It was a mess, but clear water.“I know it is too soon, but this child is coming,” Willow screamed when pain racked her body. The tribe was chanting around the longhouse. Falling Feather didn’t leave her side during the birthing.“Willow breath!” Blooming Flower yelled at her when Willow

Willow covered her body with her hands, but it didn’t hide much from his eyes. The way he stood looking at her, wanting something she didn’t understand. Falling Feather lay back on the furs, his body pressed to hers. Willow gasped when his finger pressed into her thigh. Falling Feather ran his hand down the front of her body, feeling her body quiver at his touch. Slowly, he trailed the hand back up to her breast. Willow couldn’t seem to take her eyes off of what he was doing. His other hand trailed down her body. The fact that he knew she was pure made him take his time with her. Falling Feather didn’t want to harm her; he wanted her to enjoy what they were doing.A slight pain made her stop kissing him; the pain slipped up her body, then stopped when he stopped moving. Falling Feather didn’t want to hurt her, but she was so tight that he couldn’t stop for long. Willow could see the sweat starting to bead on his forehead. Falling Feather mo

“I would be honored,” Willow told him. She didn’t know how she would let him leave. When he pulled away from her, Willow almost went with him. Falling Feather looked at her with a smile; it was sexy as hell.“Tomorrow you will become my bride!” Falling Feather told her, then left the long house. Willow felt flushed when he left. The thoughts running around in her mind were naughty, but a woman can dream. She heard people outside. Willow went to see what was going on. Chief Falling Feather was going to make an announcement. All the women were sure he would announce who he would wed.“Willow, come here, please.” She almost jumped out of her skin when the Chief called her over to him. Willow pushed her hair behind her when she walked up to him. The women were talking to themselves about how he couldn’t marry her. When she stood beside him, he took her hand and kissed it. The tribe started to cheer, well,

“Willow?” She turned to see a young woman standing in the door of her longhouse. Willow loved the space she had in her home. Normally, more than one family would live in one. Since she was the medicine woman, she had the right to one for the herbs to dry.“Enter, child,” Willow said. The young woman had come into the tent holding her belly. Willow sighed, knowing that she had regrets about sleeping with the boy. This was one of the reasons she hated being a medicine woman. So many of the young women would have a night of passion with a man, and then that young buck would pass them up for another young woman. The tribe didn’t like it when they would give that child up. Willow had been talked to before about this.“I think I am with child. I can’t carry this child.” She had heard this so many times and told the girls the same thing every time.“You have made your bed, my dear; I can’t and won’t harm the child you carry. Understand that if you kill that child, it will hang over your head

Boil, boil, the cauldron smoked and steamed into the room. Willow stirred the brew. Her mother looked over her shoulder to see how the color looked. When Willow stopped stirring, then added a pinch of sage, then a bat wing, her mother screamed at her.“Willow, stop!” It was too late to stop the potion from blowing up. Red, green, and yellow blew all over the hut. Willow looked at her mother, then at the remaining liquid. A face appeared to be looking at her. Willow gasped when she looked into his gray-blue eyes. In that moment, she knew this man would be the love of her life.“Mama, who is he?” Willow said as she pointed to the man in the liquid. Her mother looked over her shoulder, but nothing appeared to her. The older woman looked at her daughter, then thought she had lost her mind.“There is nothing there, child; you have to wait a few moments between the sage and the bat wing. How many times do I have to explain?” The old
