Nyssa found herself standing in silence.

It was not the quietness of a sleeping castle, nor the familiar hush of the forest that bordered the Moonrage Pack, but something different. It pressed against her ears and settled into her bones. The air was cool and it carried the faint scent of stone and something ancient.

She looked around slowly.

The walls surrounding her were strange, and were carved by time. They stood high above her head and narrowed further as they stretched farther into darkness. Her heart began to race.

“Lucien?” she called, her voice echoed faintly before being swallowed by the cave, but there was no answer.

She turned in a slow circle, with her bare feet pressing against the cold ground. Only then did it occur to her that she did not remember arriving here. There was no obvious path behind her, nor memory of walking to this place.

One moment she had been in her bed.

The next, here. Fear gripped her immediately.

She took a step forward, then another, testing the gro

  • Marked by Moon Fire   The End

High above in the mortal realm, stood the moon goddess, smiling proudly.“I told you Nyssa won't fail." She bragged as she looked down at Nyssa who was already in labour. Aeson, god of fire grinned, " I never doubted you.” Davinta rolled her eyes, " Good for you. I was so ready to tell Father what you did.” Selena scoffed. Ignored Davinta and turned to Kaelthar, waiting for his praises but when he spoke, she stilled. " Congratulations, Selena. But so you know, Father knew all that was happening all these days. He wants to see you.” Selena froze. Davinta burst out laughing, “She thought she could escape. After meddling with the creatures. Selena, sometimes I wonder how we are related." Selena's jaws clenched, “You told Father?" She asked Kaelthar in disbelief but he shrugged “Nope. He found out." He replied, “Because you know… he is all-knowing.” He reminded her. " But you all promised to cover up for me. He wouldn't have known if you had covered up as promised!” She stressed.

They left King Austin’s palace before dawn, with no farewell and no backward glance. Whatever illusion of safety the palace once offered had been shattered beyond repair. Lucien led the way through the forest, his senses remaining sharp, every sound setting his nerves on edge. Nyssa rode close beside him quietly, her hands rested protectively over her stomach like she could shield the life inside her from the dangers of the world. The forest felt different now. By nightfall, they were deep enough into the wilderness. Lucien decided they would stop and rest.“We’ll build a tent here,” he said, scanning the surroundings. “Just for the night.”Nyssa nodded. The trees stood too close together, He gathered some sticks together and set out a little fire close by.Lucien lay beside her, with one arm wrapped around her protectively.“Try to sleep,” he murmured. “I’m right here.”Nyssa closed her eyes, but sleep came in slowly, she opened her eyes and stared at the shadow of the fire just out

Nyssa lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, counting the slow rise and fall of her chest. Rest refused to come, no matter how hard she tried to summon it. The room was quiet, and her thoughts were louder than any storm.Lucien sat beside her, watching her restless movements with concern etched deep into his face.“You need to rest,” he said gently, brushing his fingers through her hair. “You’ve been pushing yourself all day.”Nyssa turned to him, frustration flashing in her eyes. “How can I rest when he’s still out there?” she asked. “The faceless prince isn’t waiting for us to be ready. Every moment we waste—”“We are not wasting time,” Lucien interrupted calmly. “We are being careful.”She sat up abruptly. “Careful, gets people killed.”Lucien sighed, trying to keep his tone even. “And recklessness gets you killed even faster. You’re carrying our child, Nyssa. That changes everything.”She clenched her jaw, turning away from him. “It shouldn’t change who I am.”Before Lucien could

Nyssa did not speak until they were safely back in their chambers. The door had barely closed behind them when she turned on Lucien, her eyes blazing with restrained anger. The calm she had forced upon herself in the corridor shattered the moment they were alone.“You left without telling me,” she said, her voice low but sharp. Lucien sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Nyssa—-”“No,” she cut in. “You don’t get to dismiss this by saying I needed rest. You don’t decide that for me.”He met her gaze steadily, though there was guilt in his eyes. “You were exhausted. You barely slept. I thought—”“You thought you were protecting me,” she finished bitterly. “But what you did was leave me vulnerable. I want to be part of this mission which the moon goddess gave to us. What if something had happened to me?"Lucien stepped closer. “Nothing would have happened to you.”“You don’t know that,” she snapped. “I don’t even know that anymore.”Silence fell between them, Nyssa turned away, pre

Nyssa sat upright on the bed long after the knock echoed through the room. For a brief moment, fear wrapped around her chest so tightly. Her eyes darted to the far corners of the chamber as though she was expecting the stone walls of that hidden place to appear through the reality of her room.Another knock came on the door, firmer this time. She exhaled shakily and slid her legs off the bed.“Coming,” she called, her voice softer than she intended. As she crossed the room, her thoughts drifted immediately to Lucien. He hadn’t been beside her when she woke. That alone unsettled her more than the dream had. Lucien was never careless when it came to her. If he had left, there had to be a reason. She pulled the door open.A young maid stood outside, head bowed respectfully. “Good morning, my Luna,” she greeted. “King Austin requests your presence at the breakfast table.”Nyssa blinked. “King Austin?”“Yes, my Luna. He asked that you join him.”Her fingers tightened briefly on the edge of
