Eli

Ronan doesn’t speak when he locks the door.

He just watches me from across the room, eyes burning gold, arms loose at his sides like he hasn’t already decided what he’s going to do to me. Like he isn’t already halfway to doing it.

My skin prickles and I can feel the air shift.

“Clothes off. Kneel.”

It’s not the first time he’s said those words, but something’s different tonight. Something in the intensity of his gaze and the heat of his tone. In the way the firelight paints him in shades of command and restraint.

There’s no performance here. No audience. Just us, and what we are when there’s no one watching.

I undress slowly, not because I’m trying to tease him, well, not only because of that, but because I want to savor this, whatever it is. I want to taste it as it breaks over me.

The air bites at my skin as I bare it, and when I sink to my knees on the fur rug, the heat of the fire behind me is nothing compared to the way his eyes sear into me.

He doesn’t approach right away. In

  • Marked by the Alpha: Blood Oath   Chapter 170 – Angry, Needy, Desperate

RonanThe door slams behind us, and the silence of the room feels like a prison cell I built with my own hands. I can’t breathe around it properly. The echo of Eli’s words still burns in my skull. His sharp defiance, his certainty that he’ll walk into Alaric’s den with me and somehow walk back out again.I see him as he is now, leaning against the door he just locked, chest rising and falling in quick, steady breaths, eyes bright with that maddening mix of mischief and fire. He doesn’t look afraid and he should be. He should tremble at what waits in Silvercrest. But he stares at me like he knows exactly what’s going through my mind and he still dares me to try and stop him, despite my earlier agreement. And my wolf wants to. Gods, it wants to. Tear him down to the floor, knot him until the thought of stepping into Alaric’s claws feels as impossible as tearing the bond out of his chest.“Ronan.” His voice is calm. “Don’t look at me like that unless you intend to make good on the prom

EliThe hall is still humming with tension when I step in. Kieran’s words haven’t stopped echoing since he fell to his knees in front of Ronan, all earnest desperation and shredded pride. Silvercrest’s lost son, crawling into our den with blood still on his lips from the run here. Most of the pack doesn’t seem to know what to do with him. Some mutter about a trap. Others pity him. I see someone who escaped a hell he refused to live in any longer.Because I know what it’s like to live in a cage with no key. To learn early that survival means silence, and silence means swallowing the rot until it eats you alive. Kieran wasn’t on the receiving end of the punishments. He could have reveled in the cruelty and continued a legacy of abuse. Instead he’s trying to end it. That’s not betrayal. That’s a miracle.“You should help him,” I say, quietly enough that only Ronan can hear me. He dismisses everyone, growls at Mara to keep watch, and drags me out by the wrist. Now it’s just us in his s

Kieran The walls of Silvercrest bleed secrets if you know how to listen. Tonight they whisper treachery, their voices carried through stone halls and beneath heavy doors. I didn’t come here to eavesdrop. I only wanted a few moments of silence, away from my father’s constant demands. But fate doesn’t deal in mercy.I freeze when his voice cuts through the corridor, sharp and pleased. “Only one pack is holding out. The rest have all neatly fallen in line. Vale thinks Blackthorn is unbreakable, but he’s about to get a lethal education in economics. Gold is worth more than loyalty. It buys soldiers. It buys shadows. And I have plenty of both.”Corin answers with a grating little laugh. As always its too quick and eager. “You’re a masterful monarch, Alpha Alaric. Ronan Vale won’t know what hit him, and his little doe will soon be yours.”I lean against the wall, fists tight enough for my nails to dig half-moons into my skin. I should walk away. Pretend I didn’t hear. But the words clin

RonanEli is still trembling when I lift him into my arms. From everything he just poured into me, all the raw edges of his soul left bare between us. His eyes are swollen from crying, his throat scraped from begging, and yet when he looks at me now there’s only trust. That trust breaks me more than tears ever could.I carry him through the hall and into our cabin. The bed waits, furs rumpled from where he tossed earlier in restless sleep. I set him down, not like a fragile object, I’d never insult him like that, but as something precious, my palms consecrating every line of him as I go.He reaches for me, hands fisting in my shirt, dragging me down until our mouths meet. The kiss is soft at first, just the brush of lips, but then he opens under me and the world tilts. Salt from his tears mix with the taste of him, and I swear I’ll remember it forever.“I meant it,” he whispers against me. “Every word.”“I know.” My voice is thick, almost unrecognizable. “And I’ll prove the same to yo

Eli I know exactly where to find him when I wake alone in our bed, my insides roiling apprehensively. It’s well past midnight, but Ronan’s still at his desk. Maps spread in front of him, candle burned down to a crooked stub. He sits like a carved statue, jaw clenched, eyes hollow with the weight of everything.I lean against the doorway with my arms folded. Normally I’d bait him, toss a sharp word to make him snap out of it. But tonight I don’t.“Come to bed,” I say quietly. His eyes flick to me, then back to the parchment. “Soon.”He won’t. Soon means dawn. Soon means he’ll sit here grinding himself to dust while I lie in an empty bed. Something inside me frays at the thought. I cross the floor, bare feet silent on the stone, and stop beside him.“Ronan.” I know he’s going to fight me on this, but I’m not budging. He exhales heavily, and finally drags his gaze from the map. “What?” “I want you to do the ritual again.”His eyes sharpen instantly, the Alpha steel cutting through his

RonanAt this hour the pack sleeps, their breath fogging cabins, their wolves curled in warmth against the creeping frost. Blackthorn rests. But I do not. I can’t.The map sprawled across my desk is worn soft at the edges, corners smudged with ink and sweat. I’ve traced the same borders over and over until they blur, as if I could redraw the world by sheer force. It doesn’t change. The names don’t move. The allegiances don’t shift no matter how hard I will them to.Hollowrock is our only ally left.Every other pack is drifting toward Silvercrest. Some have openly pledged their support to Alaric, promising warriors and supplies. Others take refuge in silence, feigning neutrality while sending their emissaries east. I already know where they’re going to end up. They won’t be rallying behind Blackthorn. With enough coin, Alaric buys their loyalty like cattle at a market. The man has no honor, but who cares about respect when gold and fear are easier currencies? My fist clenches around t
