Chapter 23

JAX:

Everything looked busier than usual on the streets of Cape Mobil, a street miles away from where I had an encounter with my brother.

For about an hour now, I've been looking through the window of the building I'm in as I try to detect any suspicious movement from down there. My sight was more than enough to catch anything that quick but the wariness of what could escape my eyes was what was putting me on edge.

My hand was gripping tight the curtain as I looked through and the force I used on it felt like I was planning to pull the curtain apart.

A groan catches my hearing. And although I didn't need anyone to tell me it was the person I brought in here with me, I still chose to look over my shoulder at her.

I saw she was trying to sit up from the bed she was laying on and that was when I decided to look away. She would notice my presence in no time and that was enough. Hopefully, she doesn't shriek from the sudden realization.
