Becca POV

l anxiously stared at my phone, my heart skipping a beat with each passing second. I desperately hoped for a notification to pop out, something, anything that would break the deafening silence. But still, there was nothing. I let out a heavy sigh of disappointment, realizing maybe I had been expecting too much.

After the feast, Max and I continued chatting late into the night. It felt like we were the only two people in the world, lost in our own little bubble. But suddenly, it seemed like he had disappeared into thin air. It felt like he was ghosting me, leaving me confused and frustrated.

"Rebecca!" Lola's voice snapped me back to reality.

"What?" I asked, feeling disoriented.

"Oh my God, you were not paying attention at all," Lola exclaimed.

I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts. "What the heck is happening?" Lola's question echoed in my mind as I tried to make sense of everything.
