CHAPTER 5 – Do not open, it will explode

"Just wait, I'll learn to cook eventually. He will never taste my cuisine since I am certain that by that time, we will have divorced." She whispered something that she immediately forgot as she chopped the veggies, and she had cut her finger!

She shouted that alarm to Caspian who was busy receiving the parcel from the delivery man. He dashed into the kitchen when he heard his wife shouting.

"What happened to you?" He asked while catching his breath. She turned to him and showed her pointed finger bleeding.

"I cut my finger," she said, trying to sound confident despite her nervousness.

"What have you done? Are you so blind that you even cut your finger?!" He scowled.

She tilted her head in the other direction as her tears started to fall, "what can I do with that now?" He asked her.

Stephanie did not reply, so he grabbed her hand and washed it under the tap water till it stopped bleeding. She wipes her tears to not let him know that she was crying over a small cut.

"I thought you knew how to use the knife? How come you cut your finger?" He asked her once more and stared at her face. He noticed her eyelashes are wet. "Don’t tell me you cried because of this?" He mocked.

He observed her reaction but she ignored him, Caspian accompanied her to the living room and bandaged her wound.

"Next time, I don’t want to see you in my kitchen. Trouble maker," he rudely stated as he left her and strode in the kitchen to finish his cooking.

"He badly wanted me to disappear from his world, but why didn't he agree with me in the first place? He chose to revise it rather than to follow my lead."

She went to the kitchen carefully without making a sound. She was facing his back while he was busy cooking their breakfast. Her eyes were scanning his physique as he wore a fitted shirt, curving his muscles and showing his biceps as he moved his hand.

She forgot that she wanted to divorce him and get away with him, as she was imagining things and drooling over his sexy body, "not bad," she stated, without even realizing that she said it out loud.

Caspian turned behind his back and caught her staring at him, "didn’t I tell you to stay there and step here?!"

She was taken aback when he caught her red-handed. She moved her eyeballs back and forth while she was trying to search for a reason in her mind.

She calmed herself and thought properly. She managed to smile when she found one that she thought could please him.

"I was wondering whether you were going to put anything in there. I'm afraid you're planning to murder me to avoid the embarrassment of being a divorced man any time soon."

He leaned his hand on the table between them and shifted his body closer to her, staring at her seriously, "do you think I’m planning to do that in my own house?"

Caspian watched her eyes widen and gulped hard before running away, leaving him alone in the kitchen. He smirks at her as she flees like a terrified cat and returns his attention to the dinner he's preparing, turning off the heat and putting the veggies on the dish.

Stephanie was acting irritably on the sofa. Her gaze was drawn to the package on the coffee table. Her curiosity tickled her mind so that she observed the box and screamed nervously.

"CASPIANNNNN!!!" He could hear her yells.

"What has she gotten herself into this time?" He groaned and made his way to the living room. He saw her face was as red as a rose and he could tell that she was angry.

"What is your problem again?" He asked in a hushed tone.

She pointed at the box and asked, "what is in that box?!"

Caspian took a look at the package and giggled at her response, asking, "What's wrong with it?"

"What’s wrong?!! Can you hear yourself? Do you want me dead?!" She interrogates him inexcusably.

"Where did you get that idea?" He grins and glances at the box. He realizes the bold letters written on it, "don’t open, it will explode."

"Do you think that I can kill innocent people?" He laughed and saw her nodding at him.

"Did you forget that my job is to protect the country? Tell me, how can I kill its people?" He was shaking his head from side to side.

"Oh, I’m sorry, colonel Ardiente for accusing you, but can you enlighten me as to why the box has a caution like that?"

"If you want to know what's in there, you may tell me and I'll reveal it to you," he offered.

Stephanie got nervous and felt insecure being with him, "oh no! If I die now, my parents will be very disappointed in me because of my secrets. I can’t die now, I need to make them proud," she said to herself as she panicked.

"I’m not interested. You can keep that thing to yourself," she strongly refused.

"No! I want you to see it to stop your wild imagination from thinking bad things about all the people around you," he took a cutter and slid it on the tape at the top of it while his wife was extremely afraid for her life.

Her heart was beating unsteadily as her body was trembling and breathing heavily while she focused on watching him open the box and praying for her safety.

"Move closer here," he told her, but she refused. "Do you think I'll open it if it catches fire in front of us?"

Stephanie wasn’t convinced by his statement, so she put her hand on each of her ears to cover them from the loud noise it would create.

"I will open it now. You can close your eyes if you are scared," he suggested, and open them. She was right—a loud explosion could be heard throughout their whole condominium!
