chapter 2

Helen narrates.

I looked at myself in the mirror in the middle of a grimace. I didn't understand how Dylan had wanted to marry me; she was such a simple girl, without any grace. My eyes were big like Princess Pocahontas's and color was hazel. My brown hair pierced my behind, but my body was so simple; I was thin with a little width in my hips, but my breasts were flat, and my buttocks were fully developed.

I tried to be the best presented for the occasion, it was my husband, and I didn't want him to see me badly for that; so, I took a shower after breakfast, so that he would feel pleasant with my presence. However, it was all useless, because when I knocked on the office door, he looked at me with disgust.

"I can enter?" I asked nervously, while she knocked on the door a few times.

"Go ahead" he indicated serenely.

When I entered the office, I looked at him. He was at his desk looking at some papers, and without looking at me, but with a serious expression on his face, he told me to sit down.

"Miss Helen can you please take a seat, there are many things I want to explain to you."

I took a seat in silence, and while I looked at my hands or played with my hair, I watched him closely; he had a thin face, so much so that it looked like a woman's face, since it was so smooth that it seemed made up.

He looked up and his eyebrows arched at me, I wanted to smell myself to see if I had an unpleasant smell on my body, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

“These papers that I have in my hands are a marriage contract, you will be my wife, my partner, my nurse for two years, which is how long the recovery therapy for the next operation that I will have in a few months lasts. That's why I need you, I need your company until the contract is up."

I nodded. What he said seemed absurd to me. If he wanted a companion, why didn't he buy a dog? But since I'm not that stupid, I ended up telling him what he thought.

“I find it so silly that you married me just for such stupidity! Why didn't you buy a dog instead? That way you would avoid making my life so miserable!” I yelled in his face before getting up to leave, annoyed.

“You better shut up and sit down! "I froze when I heard him speak to me in that dry way, which paralyzed every strand of my body." I made a deal with your father, and you must keep it. Also, you are already my wife, and I gave a hefty sum of money to your father for you, bratty and insolent.”

As soon as I heard the snore of his voice I felt my legs tremble, fear settled in my belly like steel daggers. I was frozen." You sign the contract, or I don't respond! "He wrinkled his eyebrows in annoyance.

"You said that my father has done it, why should I sign too?"

"Because here you promise to be with me until the time is up or until I get bored of you, and now, don't waste my time" he expelled from his mouth arrogantly. Sign the paper that you are already my wife anyway.”

I felt a hollow in my stomach, but I still took the pen and signed.

I knew that I could leave, that I could escape from this crazy contract, but I didn't have the money to do it and even if I did, my mother needed to have an emergency operation. So, I thought that she could leave after the operation. I was going to get out of that yoke to which I was being condemned.

“You can withdraw. And oh, please, I ordered you to go buy new clothes and you continue with those rags. Tonight, some friends are coming to celebrate my current wedding and I want you to look formal, don't make me feel more ashamed of you.”

“What if his friends ask about our relationship?” I asked puzzled.

It all seemed like a television soap opera, one of those where millionaires marry the poor and naive girl and then fall in love, but I could never love Dylan Mayora in a thousand years.

"I hadn't thought of that, well, let's just say that your father introduced us, and we fell in love right away, yes, just that."

I looked at him with annoyance, everything seemed so simple, he hadn't even given me a valid explanation for me to understand how marrying me had benefited him.

"Okay, can I leave now sir?" I asked mockingly.

"Yes please. I'm tired of looking at you for today." (...)

Dylan narrates.

I was used to taking my beautiful wife and my son Daniel every vacation to Acapulco. Alicia, my wife, was from Mexico and when we would go to her mother's house for her vacations, she loved to spend the weekend staying at the hotels closest to the beach.

That day we had arrived late from our trip to Mexico, and since I had some pending business to finish, I stayed up late working on some projects that I had to sign the next day.

"Sky is sleeping, tomorrow we'll go to the beach at dawn, and I don't want you to fall asleep on the way" Alicia, my wife, sat on my lap to convince me.

“Love let me finish, okay? I promise to sleep in a few minutes" I promised without looking at her. She gave me a warm kiss on the lips and left the office.

It was almost three in the morning when he had finished the files. I called Gonzalo, my friend and lawyer who had also gone to Mexico for business, so that the next day.

He will pick up the papers at my mother-in-law's house and take them signed to the headquarters we had in Mexico.

Owning an auto empire hadn't been easy to achieve at my youthful age, but while I inherited my father's businesses, I had also made it grow through demanding work.

Only two hours had passed when my wife woke me up to get ready; She loved traveling to the beach at dawn and Daniel was quite happy about the trip.

“Daddy, I'm happy because this time you could come with us to the beach” my three-year-old son told me with his blue eyes wide with emotion.

"And I promise to do it more often" I stroked her brown hair lovingly.

The road was short, it only took a few minutes to reach our destination. I was very tired and from time to time my eyes closed on their own. Alicia was distracted by her cell phone, and I was trying to concentrate on the road, until everything got cloudy, causing me to fall asleep completely.

When I woke up, I was in a hospital room. The first thing they told me was that my wife and son had died in a car accident, and that I had miraculously survived, but unfortunately, I had lost mobility in my legs.

It was so painful to lose my family. I didn't understand why life had taken away what I loved the most, what was my little boy's fault? Was it my fault? I wondered a thousand times more. So, my heart turned cold and hateful.

Being in a wheelchair had robbed me of many friends; people saw me with pity and others with fear, but I understood them since whenever they approached me the disdain with which I treated them was even unbearable for myself.

One day they called me from a school to deliver high school graduation certificates, every year I made charitable donations to that low-class institution. Camilo, my driver, was pushing my wheelchair when a young woman who was dressed to graduate almost fell on my feet.

"Excuse me" She got up embarrassed without looking at me and left.

He had been enchanted by the beauty of that girl. She had long hair and her face reflected innocence. I became obsessed with the sweetness of her voice.

After my wife's death, no other woman had ever caught my eye. And although many wanted to get closer, for me they only did it out of pity, because of my condition.

I didn't stop looking at her during the title delivery, until I noticed that her father happened to work for my company. An idea popped into my head immediately, so the next morning I called Arturo Fonseca at my office.

I summoned him to my office to ask him to give me his daughter as my wife in exchange for a lot of money. Even though she knew that what she made of her was wrong, he wanted her like crazy. I had only seen her once, but what that girl had provoked or aroused in me had me obsessed.

“Mr. Fonseca, you already owe my company thirty thousand dollars in loans. And even if I wanted to help him, I can't do it since even taking away the salary he has as a sales promoter, he could pay me everything he owes me in twenty years.”

"Mr. Dylan, please, I promise to pay you, besides, my wife is sick, and my daughter hardly helps at home," he begged.

“I will help you in exchange for your daughter being handed over to me by contract as my wife. All your debt will be paid in addition to receiving a pension for your expenses and those of your wife" I told him without hesitation, he was not exactly a man who beat around the bush.

At first, I thought he wouldn't accept, since his daughter was very young, besides, one doesn't go through life exchanging people for money.

I was very surprised when he accepted my proposal right away, and although I doubted if his daughter would accept, a few days later he called me to prepare the wedding.

I was excited about that marriage, as much or more than when I married my wife; but everything changed when on the wedding day the girl looked at me with disgust and wanted to kill me.

She was belittling me because of my condition, and although I wanted to let her go, everything was done.

That day I went out of town, I didn't want to see her, even though she was being forced to marry me, I had thought that in all that time I could fall in love with her, but I was more disappointed when I got home my sister told me that she had preferred sleep in another room.

«Does he hate and disgust me so much? », I thought. He was disappointed, upset, and full of anger. She was offering to change her life and she was repaying me that way.

I sent for her with a servant, I was nervous to see her, so much so that I looked for thousands of positions for when she arrived; I didn't understand how a girl younger than me could put myself that way.

Although it wasn't very difficult to understand, she was really beautiful, her hazel eyes, her average height, her wide hips, her soft pink lips that made me want to kiss her, it made me so crazy that just imagining her with another man I had to squeeze annoying fists; She couldn't bear to think that someone had ever kissed her, that someone had ever made her a woman, she hated that idea, she felt so much pain and horrible jealousy that made me go crazy immediately. But who was I to have her?

A half man? A man who could never pick her up to take her to bed.

A man who could never go out one morning to run with her in the garden or to swim. I was a half man and that's why she didn't want to be around me.

When she knocked on the door and I waved her in, I looked at her in surprise because she was wearing a dirty and disgusting outfit.

I got upset right away, since my sister had told me that she did not want to accept anything that came from me.

The way she treated me was harsh and although I had treated her in the same way, I didn't want that to continue like this, so after she left the office, I called my sister remorseful so she could send for a bouquet of roses and bring it to me. to his room.

"What do you want brother?" Marina entered the office without knocking.

Marina was my right hand. After my parents died I had taken care of her, she was always rebellious and selfish but spending five years in a boarding school had changed her so much that as soon as Alicia and my son died, I sent her to look for me so I wouldn't feel so alone in that house so huge where I lived after the death of my family.

“Please, Marina, I've told you a thousand times to knock before going in” I raised an angry eyebrow “Send my wife to buy all kinds of clothes; what she needs. Also, I also want you to buy her a bouquet of roses, the biggest you can find, and send it to her” I ordered without looking at her.

Marina nodded her head and left the office.

The afternoon passed quickly, between calling some friends to attend the meeting and finishing some work, time had passed. I rushed to the bathroom when the clock marked seven at night and with the help of one of the servants, I took a quick shower. I wanted to look presentable. And it is that despite being condemned to a wheelchair, I knew that I had physical attributes that I could use in my favor.

When I got to the meeting room, there were a few people, including Gonzalo, my good friend and lawyer.

"And your wife? I don't see her around here” he asked curiously.

"She shouldn't be long in coming, she's surely getting more beautiful than she is" I muttered with a smile.

"You did fall in love with that woman from that day you saw her at school, so much so that you forced her to marry you."

"Shut up idiot, you know that nobody can know that" I looked at him with annoyance while Gonzalo raised his hands in peace.

Gonzalo was my best friend, like my brother, there was nothing in my life that he didn't know, he had been my support even more than Marina who sometimes felt that she didn't love me like a sister should love her brother; but although our relationship was not the best, it was my only family and I wanted to protect it.

We all fell silent as the click of a woman's heels came down the stairs. Although the house had an elevator, my beautiful wife preferred to appear with much more elegance.

I looked at her like everyone else, being surprised and at the same time embarrassed to see her like that.
