Chapter 1

"Carol just came back from her travels. Do you know how long Austin had been waiting for her one kiss? How dare Stella touch him there so shamelessly with her bare hands! She deserves to be taught a huge lesson!"

My husband of five years, Austin Salazar, scoffed dismissively and said, "How is this going to be a lesson for her? Nobody's ever touched her for five whole years. I bet she'd be over the moon if she knew some rich millionaire was willing to bid for her virginity. Do you guys even know just how desperate she is?

"It's just like she can't ever survive on her own without a man by her side!"

A burst of loud, mocking laughter rang around the room.

"Carol's allergic to Stella's scent and would always get nauseated if she ever caught a whiff of it, forcing Austin to always disinfect himself every time after he touches Stella.

"I bet Stella probably still thinks that she's really dirty and unclean!"

"This auction is going to be the perfect opportunity for her to feel like a woman again. She won't have to fear dying a virgin anymore. She's going to be ecstatic!"

My face suddenly turned icy cold as I heard them laughing and jeering loudly at me, behind my back.

It felt as though there were a pair of hands squeezing and gripping my heart. It hurt so much that my vision began to blur.

Every time Austin touched me, he would immediately recoil as if he'd just touched something utterly disgusting.

At one point, I thought that I was carrying horrible germs on me, so I would soak myself in a bathtub full of disinfectant every night.

Over time, every inch of my skin became severely blistered and damaged. Even a light breeze would be enough to irritate my skin, causing rashes to break out.

Austin even purposely switched out our double bed in the master bedroom for two single beds, fearing he might catch my germs.

After my incessant hounding and countless questions about it, he simply threw a medical report in my face and said, "I have severe mysophobia! You're not allowed to touch a single hair on my head ever again!"

Yet, I only knew now that everything he said and did was just because of Carol Parker, his ex-girlfriend, who said that I was disgusting and therefore she was allergic to me.

What a pathetic excuse.

Austin's family and mine had been close friends for generations. We were even betrothed to each other when we were children.

As we grew older, the betrothal gradually faded from both of our families' views. We all thought that we should be free to fall in love with a partner of our choice, and that was the right way to go.

However, Austin's grandmother, Enid Melton, had been plagued by illness for years, and she was also very traditional in her thinking. She insisted that we both had to marry each other as agreed.

She knew that Austin had feelings for Carol and that I was also dating someone else at the time, but she still insisted that we both marry each other, and we had no choice but to oblige.

Since I was still hesitant, she offered me a way out.

"I sincerely hope that you will both stay together until the end. However, if Austin really betrays you, I will personally bring him the signed marriage dissolution papers and make him set you free."

Yet, on the day of our wedding night, Austin locked me out of the room.

I thought that he still needed some time to accept me, so I was patient with him and very accommodating to his "mysophobia".

However, I ended up waiting for him for five whole years.

For the past five years, I humbled myself to the extreme while living with him, and yet, the truth was such a cruel one after all.

I called Grandma on the phone and said in a numb voice, "There will be enough to prove that Austin betrayed me, at the auction house in Bannerton city center, just two days later.

"Please just set me free, Grandma."

I got home fairly late that day. Surprisingly, Austin didn't treat me as coldly as usual. In fact, he seemed a lot more assertive with me that night.

Austin, who was supposed to have gone back to his country for the wedding, suddenly appeared before Kai and me.He was clearly taken aback when he spotted Kai and me together. He immediately approached us in a rush and demanded, "Is this your ex-boyfriend?"I grabbed Kai's arm and gave Austin a cold look. "It's none of your business."However, Austin blocked our way and glared at me in disbelief."How is it none of my business? Don't you tell me that you've both been living together!"When Kai saw how hostile Austin was being, he stepped in front of me and said, "This is a private matter between Stella and me. Kindly respect her choice."As soon as the words were out of his mouth, Austin suddenly delivered a punch to his face, sending Kai reeling to the ground."What the hell are you doing!" I exclaimed, rushing over to Kai to check on him. "Are you okay?"Kai shook his head and got back to his feet.Austin's eyes turned red when he watched us like that."How can you only be

It seemed that Enid had already told Austin about Kai and me. However, no matter what feelings I harbored for Kai, it was still none of Austin's business.I laughed coldly."Speak for yourself. What about you? How proper is it between you and Carol?"To tell you the truth, I've already heard everything you did with her behind my back. It was that day you stripped me naked and locked me up in the bedroom for the other men to gawk at me."I heard every single thing you both did."Austin took a step back in disbelief. He panicked and asked, "So, you already know everything, don't you?"I looked straight into his eyes and nodded.I was very thankful that I'd overheard him after all. Otherwise, I would still have been completely in the dark about it, allowing my own husband to do such disgusting and despicable things behind my back. That would have been truly terrifying. When he saw me nodding, he suddenly pursed his lips and slouched over like a deflated balloon. His arrogance was

I boarded the plane in a daze. When I opened my eyes again, I realized that I was already lying in bed in an apartment."You're up, Stella."As my vision slowly returned, I recognized Kai's familiar face.In just one second, I let down my defences and allowed myself to crumple into his arms, bursting into loud, body-wracking sobs.Austin and the others had stripped me completely naked and locked me up in a humiliating crystal box, subjecting me to both mental and physical torture.I didn't want to go back anymore."It's alright, Stella. It's alright. I'm here. You're safe now."Kai held me tightly in his arms, making me feel warmth that I hadn't felt in the past five years.Austin always accused me of having ulterior motives whenever I got close to him, when actually, all I wanted was just a bone-crushing hug from him.But at the very least, everything was finally over now. That oppressive life would never happen again.I leaned back against the headboard and began to talk.

Carol never thought that a slap would immediately land on her tender cheek. She nursed her cheek with her hand while staring incredulously at Austin."What's the matter with you? You used to be so eager to sleep with me. Are you telling me that you hit me just because that bitch finally left?"Austin didn't seem affected by her pitiful appearance. Instead, he gave her a warning look and said, "Don't you ever dare to refer to her as a bitch again! Stella Leblanc is still my wife!"Carol's eyes were filled with resentment and indignation at his sudden change in behaviour. She snorted coldly and said, "Hasn't your grandma already said that your marriage has been dissolved? She's not your wife anymore! She's probably rolling in the sheets with some other man as we speak!"Another slap landed swiftly on her cheek. This time, the corners of her mouth split, and her hair was completely disheveled."If I never agreed to the divorce, then it doesn't count!"With that, Austin retrieved

With that, Enid snorted coldly and had her personal assistant help her out of the venue.Upon receiving the news, Carol almost screamed with excitement."Austin! Grandma just agreed to let you marry me! Isn't that just wonderful? We finally don't have to sneak around anymore!"Austin's friends also congratulated him one by one, offering him wine and champagne to celebrate."We didn't think that things would end up turning so perfectly in your favor, Austin! You've always been disgusted with Stella, haven't you? Isn't it great that your grandma is now rooting for you and Carol? You can finally marry her after all!""Congratulations, Austin!""That Stella used to stick to you like glue, constantly hovering around you like a slut. But at least she finally came to her senses now and left you alone! Things turned out right for us in the end!"Compliments continued to be thrown his way as Austin's friends clinked their glasses together in joyful celebration.Meanwhile, Carol leaned w

"G-Grandma? What are you doing here?" Austin asked, nursing his face as he leaped up from his seat like he was a mouse who'd just seen a cat.Enid was so mad with anger that she was trembling all over. She scoffed and said, "If I didn't come here now, I wouldn't even have known that you were auctioning off your own wife's virginity! You're such a bastard!"Austin lowered his head at once as he stammered awkwardly."W-We were just joking around… I just thought of bringing her out for fun since she kept staying at home all day…"But really, Grandma, what did you just slap me with? Why does it hurt so much?"He crouched over and picked up the document from the floor. When he properly read the words on the front page, however, the playful smile on his face disappeared at once. The words "Marriage Dissolution Agreement" were spelled out in big, bold letters.Austin felt his heart clench when he read the words."What… What is the meaning of this, Grandma? I'm married to Stella! But w
