THIRTEEN

Daniel Winters spoke too soon. Everything was NOT alright. No sooner did he rest his weary head on his king-sized bed than a loud piercing howl tore across his penthouse.

What the fuck?! He shot up from his bed, feeling the onset of a headache and rubbed his bloodshot eyes. Was it the apocalypse? Had end times come?

He leapt from his bed and rushed out of his room in search of the source of the agonizing cry only to come to a screeching halt in the kitchen when he saw Jane holding a wailing baby in her arms.

“Oh, I’m sorry. Did we wake you up?” Jane asked innocently as she rocked her little bundle in her arms. Beside her, the electric kettle started to boil and the sound of distant waves bubbling in a pool of lava could be heard.
