CHELLEY MORETTI

When Jared dropped me back at the beach house, He said no words, his demeanor was cold, like he wasn’t the man calling me lady, and even offering his life over his incompetence… my memory swirled back to the oddness of it all, how did he get my location?

And when I tried asking,

“Go in and isolate yourself…” he said in a cold tone, like an accusation that I had purposely left the beach house, or trying to escape my isolation again, I know what that meant, and wouldn’t even dare.

“I didn’t go alone,” I answered quickly, desperate to clear myself. “The watchers who drove me to the store… They were with me. I never stepped out unguarded.”

The man beside Jared spoke then, his voice was flat and merciless.

“Lady… the moment they dropped you, they went drinking. We do not take slacking on the job lightly. They were fired. And silenced.”

My heart lurched. Silenced? The word echoed like a tolling bell in my skull. Did he mean… killed?

CHELLEY MORETTI“God complex?” He scoffed. His thumb lingered on my lip, pressing until I tasted the faint copper sting of blood where my teeth scraped against it. My breath hitched, shuddering under the chokehold, and I hated ... God, I hated that my body betrayed me, heat coiling low in my stomach; this man affected me in a way I can’t explain… My nipples peaked hard at his rough touch, my heart thudding as well. It was like my body wasn’t in harmony with my rage and pain; it was like my body was craving more of his touch, betraying me. “You ruined me…” My voice was ragged and breathless against his grip. “What did I do to deserve this? I don’t know you, and God knows I don’t want to… you devil!” I broke down, tears forming in my eyes. Cassian’s eyes narrowed, studying me as if my tears and my hatred were something he craved. His grip loosened just enough for air to slip through, and his mouth came close enough that the scrape of his stubble grazed my cheek, my pussy clenched,

CHELLEY MORETTIMy heart was pounding so hard, painfully hard. I didn’t know if it was because of the vile lie being spun against me or because I couldn’t stomach Cassian believing it. The thought of him seeing me as some desperate, sick wench twisted deeper than the humiliation itself. And that’s what I hated the most. Why did it matter? Why did he matter? Why did his judgement, of all people, feel like a blade carving into my skin?I should hate him… no, I do hate him. With every bone, every breath that burns in my chest. Cassian Moretti is the reason I am trapped in this hell; he took the most precious thing from me, he took my hope away, and yet… somewhere beneath my loathing, I cannot sever the pull. That’s why I stood still. That’s why I let the silence hang instead of defending myself. To open my mouth, to deny it, to beg him to believe me… That would mean his opinion mattered. That he himself mattered. And I would sooner cut my tongue out than give him that power. So I sto

CHELLEY MORETTI“Get out! And follow me.” A reverberating masculine voice broke into the room, and we both turned to see a tall, burly man in a suit and very dark shades. My heart sank; I knew Cassian Moretti was here, and my hands were soaked with sweat. And we followed immediately. I walked down the stairs, and there he was. Cassian Moretti, my captor, sat on the king-sized chair in the sitting room, relaxed over a glass of bourbon and a thick cigar, and behind him Jared and four other men in black were all around the room. The thick smoke of the cigar blurred his face; I could only see his frame. His presence was intimidating. My breath hitched as the air suffocated me or the scent of bourbon and tobacco clawed at my lungs. As I stepped the final stairs and escorted him right to his front, then he leaned forward. The smoke parted, and I saw him clearly, Cassian Moretti. My captor, for three years of breaking me, without even seeing me.And oh gods, I have no words to describe thi

CHELLEY MORETTI“My lady, you’ve always been cautious with your words to the stewardess, but today you lost your temper.” Rita’s lips curved faintly, though her eyes were heavy.“And I can’t lie… It was satisfying to see you stand against her. But…” She hesitated, squeezing my hand gently. “She's still the stewardess. And I fear the days ahead may be even harsher, with more toiling for you.”My eyes welled with tears; I tried hard not to close them so it didn’t drop, facing up to the sky, but I couldn’t control it… It streamed down my cheek. “The beach house is beautiful,” I whispered, my voice breaking. “The ocean stretches endlessly and is calm. The breeze is fresh, the birds sing and dance in the trees… yet I can’t breathe here. No matter how I try to take in this gift of nature, the suffocation won’t leave me.”I pressed a hand to my chest, the ache spilling out of me. “You don’t know how deeply I long for my child. How every breath I take feels stolen without him.”I said… and

CASSIAN MORETTI I took a slow sip of bourbon, the burn rolling down my throat as I swirled the glass lazily in my hand.
