Until he was out of sight, Rhoda couldn't get her eyes off her. She trailed him until he got back in his car and drove off.
A few minutes after Romeo drove off, Rhoda brought out her phone immediately to call Officer Lucas.
The time for her exit had already elapsed, yet she didn't show any sign. She had successfully considered Romeo as her top priority. She has a feeling that Dexter had paid Romeo to get him out of prison. Although she wasn't certain yet, she was ready to uncover the truth regardless of how uncomfortable it would make her feel.
"Pick up the damn call, Lucas. This is important," Rhoda wept. She proceeded to text Lucas, and he still wasn't responding.
It was beginning to hurt Rhoda and mess with her head. Just when she felt like giving up, she got a call from Lucas.
Her joy knew no bounds. Her smile was stretched more than an anaconda. This was the perfect opportunity she was waiting for to prove Officer Lucas wrong, and she was ready to make the best of the moment.
"You called me, Rhoda. It's late already. I hope this is an emergency, and it's worth my time?" Lucas spoke softly. He was already asleep before the call came in. The reason he chose to answer the phone was because it came from a cop.
"I am sorry for disrupting your slumber, sir. I didn't know what to do. I just had to place the call," Rhoda started the conversation with a bit of suspense.
She was able to get Lucas's attention the moment he tossed off the bed and screamed. "What about Dexter? Did he escape from the cell?"
"Not yet.
But I am afraid that's going to happen pretty soon if Romeo isn't stopped immediately," Rhoda added. She kept dragging the conversation to buy herself more time and keep Lucas awake.
"What do you mean we need to stop Romeo? I asked suspended him. He can't possibly pull any magic from his house,"
"Exactly what I thought until I saw him around. I had a feeling that he had a quick meeting with Dexter before his exit," Rhoda explained and made Lucas see reasons that Romeo shouldn't be trusted.
"Are you sure about what you just told me? And I hope you do know what this case means to me?" Lucas interrogated Rhoda over the phone. His voice finally returned to normal again, courtesy of Rhoda's antics.
"Sir, I swear on my life. Have I ever lied to you before?" Rhoda swore. It was difficult for Lucas to detect if she was lying. She sounded more than convincing over the phone, even though they weren't together.
"It's fine!
I believe you now
I am gonna look into it immediately," Lucas assured Rhoda and ended the call.
His heart was troubled. It became difficult for him to return to sleep. Rhoda had successfully planted a riddle in his heart that needed to be solved immediately.
"What could Romeo be up to again? It wasn't enough to get suspended for aiding a criminal; now he wants to go back to doing the same thing that got him into trouble?" Lucas soliloquies.
He thought of what to do, and an Idea came to his head. "I guess I just need to call him immediately,"
Romeo was halfway to his house when he received a call from Officer Lucas. Immediately, he pulled over to allow him to strategize.
"That bitch Rhoda has started running her mouth again. She must have called Lucas and told all lies against me," Romeo thought. She was the only one his mind was suspecting?
"Should I answer the call or ignore it?" Romeo deliberated. He had every reason not to answer the phone. He was scared that it might confirm whatever Rhoda must have said about him.
"Romeo, stay calm and breathe in. You're going to answer the phone and speak nicely without fear." Romeo muttered the words of encouragement. It took him a while to finally breathe properly.
After convincing himself to stay calm, Romeo made the bold decision to answer the phone. " Sir, you called. Sorry, I missed your call. I wasn't aware it was ringing,"
"Romeo, where are you?" Lucas hit the nail on the head immediately. He wasn't bothered about his explanation.
"Home, sir.
I am home," Romeo stuttered. He wasn't expecting the question to come immediately.
"You are home and not in the station? Should you decide to go lie, I got my ears on the ground. I've got eyes at the back of my head. I've got more eyes than a potato. So I am going to ask you again, where the heck are you?" Lucas deployed another means to fetch the truth from Romeo.
He was able to break into Romeo's defense, forcing him to glance around to be certain he wasn't followed.
"Sir, I am home.
Why would I want to lie to you? The last time I checked, you asked me to leave. I did exactly as I was told," Romeo affirmed.
It was hard for him to maintain the tempo. His facial expressions didn't correlate to his response. It would have been easier for Lucas to tell that he was lying if they were seated next to each other.
"Sir, did anyone tell you I was still in the station? This is quite strange to me," Romeo stylishly asked. He wanted Lucas to admit that Rhoda was behind everything.
"Mind your fucking business and enjoy your holiday. Don't try anything stupid. I am never getting my eyes off you," Lucas warned before terminating the phone. It was quite similar to what Rhoda told Romeo before she stepped aside for his exit.
"Oh shit, that was close.
He could have caught me.
Thank goodness I was able to get over him," Romeo sighed. He has his chest on the whole time.
Lucas might have gotten off the phone, yet Romeo was still bothered. He proceeds to switch off his phone to avoid another scare. He had a feeling that Lucas was gonna call back. He was lucky enough to escape the first time. The second time might not be better.
"George, can you just listen to your son? Why aren't you saying anything about it?" Doctor Escobar asked George for some support. Sadly for him, it looked like George was ready to take sides with Derek. The look on George's face says it all. He might not have uttered a word, but he managed to send a message across that Doctor Escobar understood perfectly fine. He needed no one to explain further."What a show of disgrace. Just when I thought you'd be different from your brother. You turned out worse," Escobar hissed and walked away.Derek wasn't bothered by the gesture towards him. He would rather focus on the issue that brought him to the hospital."Derek, that was rude. After this conversation, you need to apologize to the Doctor. I didn't raise you to be that rude," George demanded and Derek obeyed without any argument. Even on his sick bed, he still has some sort of authority over Derek. "I just found out about Dexter's arrest from one of the nurses. Why haven't you done anythi
It's been over fifteen minutes since Ciara arrived at the address that Walters described, and she hasn't entered the building. She kept calling for Walters to come outside so she could hand him over. Unfortunately for Ciara, he wasn't picking up his calls. It got to a point where his phone reportedly went off. This got Ciara worried and scared at the same time. She regretted ever accepting to return the clothes and wallet to Walters. She only did that just to stop Walters from showing up to her Father's house again like he did the last time. What hurt Ciara the most was the fact that she had to disobey her Father just to come see Walters. The thought of this alone made her not to give up. She was determined to stay back and wait for Walters to return. She wasn't bothered by how long he stayed. She wouldn't want her effort to be in vain.As Ciara waited for Walters, she had her eyes combing the entirety of the neighborhood to ensure that no one came to assault her. "I still don't k
"Oops, it looks like you weren't aware that Dexter was arrested. Damn! Why did I tell you? I should have kept it to myself," Olivia facepalms. She thought Derek was aware of it. Now, she just got herself involved in bigger trouble because Doctor Escobar had warned them not to discuss Dexter's arrest with anyone. "I need to see the doctor or my Father this minute. I will address the arrest of Dexter after. But first, my Father is important. Lastly, don't be scared. I am not going to tell your Doctor that you told me about the arrest. It's nothing for you to worry about. I do understand how significant your job is, and I wouldn't want to jeopardize it," Derek assured. He wasn't ready to kill two birds with one stone."That way, please. That's the road to the Doctor's officeAnd please - don't forget the promise you had made. You know what they said about promises, right?' Nurse Olivia gave up trying to argue with Derek. She was damn convinced that the argument wasn't going to yield a
After spending ten minutes in the bathroom, Romeo stepped outside. At that time, he had already convinced himself that Nancy had gone for good. It was worse than a near-death experience for Romeo. He knew the wife he married and decided to act smart. He hadn't told her yet, and she was already acting like she would set the house ablaze. He can't imagine what will happen when he eventually does. "I just hope I can keep up with this lie for the next 6 months until I get my job back," Romeo prayed. He did a cross sign and went back to bed. The suspension at the station was somehow becoming a blessing in disguise for Romeo because he couldn't call the last time he had that long sleep. Let alone staying at home that long before. It wasn't too long when Romeo went to sleep, and he was already hearing some footsteps in his dream. He thought it was all a dream until he heard someone call his name. "Romeo!" The voice sounded like Nancy's. Instantly, Romeo tossed off the bed as fear grippe
It was just the first day without a Job, and Romeo's life hasn't remained the same anymore. There's a part of him that's missing from inside that he just can't fathom. He would roll to both sides of the bed like a snake due to frustration. He couldn't even summon the courage to tell his wife about the devastating news. He was scared that his wife might react badly to the news or do something crazy. He intends to keep the news to himself for the longest time possible until he's done helping Dexter get out of prison."Honey, I am off to work. I would also drop the kids at school on my way to work. If you ever feel hungry, your food is in the dining room. Love you!" Nancy, Romeo's wife, informed him. She kissed his forehead afterward.26 years of age, light-skinned, curly hair, and curved. They've been married for 10 years and blessed with 3 beautiful kids. Nancy was never supporting Romeo's decision to become a cop. She was scared that he might get shot to death on duty. As a gradua
"Hold on a second! I hope It's not what I am thinking that's running through your mind right now?" She freaked out. "I don't know what you think I'm thinking. But whatever it is, who knows? It might be a beautiful thing. Don't you think so?" Derek winked at Ciara and winked seductively. "Then you must be the biggest dreamer on earth. I don't see that happening. Just so you know, your dad and my Dad had arranged for your Brother, Dexter and I to be married," Like a rocket, Ciara launched the shocking news straight into Derek's heart."What the heck?" Derek exclaimed in shock and pulled over Immediately. "What are you doing? Why did you have to pull over like that? Were you trying to get us killed?""Have you agreed to get married to my brother?" Asked, Derek as he breathed heavily. He was lucky enough not to suffer a cardiac arrest. The news caught him aware. "Does it matter? I haven't arrived at my destination yet. Unless you want me to come down and start searching for a cab,"
