"I should be asking you that question. You stole my lines. What the heck are you doing here? You aren't supposed to be here, and you know that. Did Father know you are here? Because if he does, he will kick you out." The person returned the question to Dexter.
Kelly and Ciara watched in the utmost confusion as Dexter battled words with this stranger. They were yet to understand what was going on. They couldn't even identify who the person was and what he wanted. They were unable to bring themselves to ask questions due to how fierce the situation had become.
"Okay hold.
You all messing with my head.
I promised myself not to ask but hey, I just gotta do this for my sanity.
Who the hell is this person? And why do you two share this striking resemblance? Is there something I am missing already?" Kelly finally got the balls to ask. The question has been on his mind for a long time that he can't even ignore.
"No need for the confusion, sir.
I'm Derek, Mr. George's first son
I got a call from him that he was hospitalized. He asked me to come sign some consent form, so the doctor would commence with the treatment immediately," Derek explained. He emphasized about being the first son with full confidence.
It was uncertain whether he did it to spite Dexter or not.
"Oh, shit.
Not good. Here we go again,"
Kelly facepalms and looked sideways. He knew the emergence of Derek connotes danger.
With the few he has heard from George, it's no news that Dexter and Derek are sworn enemies even though they're biological brothers.
"Oh, I get the point now.
So you are the Derek your father usually talks about? Damn! I can't believe this. What a small world we live in," Ciara mumbled in a low tone as she looked in the opposite direction, just like her Father.
"Why is everyone suddenly acting weird because I introduced myself? Did I sound funny? Is there something you all are not telling me?" Derek quizzed. The atmosphere around was suspicious to make him think that a lot might have been said in his absence.
"What do you want to know about? I suggest you back off while you still can. What matters most is that I'm here now," Dexter stepped inside after staying quiet for a while.
"And what's that supposed to mean?
You're not even making any sense right now." Asked, the angry Derek.
Leaning towards Derek, Dexter tapped him on the shoulder. "Dear, kid brother. It's not as though I owe you any explanation but since you are so curious to find out, I guess I would just tell you immediately. I've signed the consent form. As we speak, my beloved Father is currently receiving treatment in his ward. If you're smart enough, you should understand that your presence isn't needed here,"
"This is insane
When did you start acknowledging him as your father? You have never liked him before. Where's this gutter behavior coming from, huh?" Derek fired back. It didn't look like he was ready to leave anytime soon.
"You are the smartest kid alive, aren't you? So figure that out," Dexter made a travesty of Derek and walked away, leaving Derek alone to ponder his thoughts.
"Do you have an idea what that was all about?" Derek asked Ciara after he spent minutes racking his head but couldn't come up with anything that could solve his situation.
Ciara wanted to speak. Derek could see her move. The moment she was about to speak up, Kelly interrupted her saying, "I don't think she's the one you need to be asking such questions. If you ever feel lost, I'm sure your brother is there to direct you,"
After the speech, Kelly wasted no time in pulling Ciara away from Derek.
"Same brother that doesn't want to speak to me? Didn't you witness everything that happened? Or do I need to explain myself again?" Derek wept. Just when he thought speaking to Ciara would make his situation worse, rather it worsened it. For once in his life, he felt neglected and rejected.
"Who cares if your brother doesn't want to speak to you? That should be your problem to deal with and not mine. I am just trying to protect my daughter from you. If you got an issue with that, shove it off my ass," Kelly smirked and dragged Ciara away.
She cried, "You hurting me.
Please let me go," not for once did Kelly listen to her failings. It's as though she was speaking to herself.
Tired of pleading for her Father to let go, Ciara forcefully pulled herself away from him. "Dad, please stop. You're embarrassing me,"
"Embarrassing you?
Do you call this an embarrassment?
For crying out loud, Ciara.
I was only trying to protect you.
That's what every caring Father would do," Kelly explained until it metamorphosed into yelling.
Shaking her head sideways disdainfully, Ciara broke down in tears. "Sometimes I do wonder if you're my biological father. Our lives were beautiful before your friend came into the picture. Since then, I haven't had a moment of peace. What went wrong?"
This outcry from Ciara left Kelly completely devastated. Deep down, he knew that Ciara was telling the truth. He just finds it rather difficult to balance his loyalty towards George and his love for Ciara, his daughter. No matter how hard he tries, he still ends up offending either one of them.
"That's it?
You are not going to say a word?
Not even an explanation or apology as to why you keep hurting me this way?" Ciara bemoaned. She expected more from her Father but unfortunately, she got nothing.
Kelly had his mouth glued.
He fails at every attempt to speak up.
"That's what I thought.
I just can't believe this is happening to me. Just when I thought I had a father," Ciara wiped off her tears as went away with a broken heart. Kelly tried calling for her return and she ignored him as though he never existed.
"What are you scared of? I don't bite. Come on, take the envelope from me and stop acting like a baby already. An officer like you shouldn't be fidgeting. Have you forgotten what I told you about being courageous? You never can tell, it might be your letter of promotion," Lucas said. Romeo saw that as a trick and refused to fall for it. Without hesitation, he went on his knees immediately and pleaded for Lucas forgiveness. "I am sorry for the things I did to you. None of them were intentional. I've learned my lessons now. Please, I don't want to end up like Tony. I deserve a second chance,"The dismissal of Tony still lives rent-free in Romeo's head like a movie. He wouldn't want his situation to be like that. "You don't want to end up like Tony, right? That's quite ambitious if you ask me," Lucas scoffed."I don't know what you are talking about. I can't recall what happened to Tony. Can you please remind me?" "You dismissed him because of Dexter Cooper, sir. Not just that, he als
"He needs to reach out to his Father. His Father is not even aware that he's been arrested," Romeo pleaded. He was ready to scrub both knees on the tiled floor just to prove how serious he was. "Now this is getting more serious than I expected. How much did Dexter pay you to do this for him? Because I mean, you can't go this for a total stranger you know nothing about," Rhoda confronted Romeo with the disturbing question."Excuse me?" Romeo fumed. "What do you take me for? Do you think I'm one of those hungry-looking cops out there who would sell their dignity for money?" "Perhaps, she might be right. No one knows the reason you are doing this," A masculine voice interrupted them from close range. The voice sounded like Lucas. Where Romeo was, he prayed silently and wished it wasn't Lucas. Lucas, so far, has proved to be Romeo's greatest fear ever. He wasn't even confident enough to look into Lucas' eyes and speak to him directly, let alone confront him. "Good evening, Boss. You ar
"I am listening to you Romeo. Since you got here, you haven't said anything worthy of my attention. I just hope I am not wasting my time with you? Because I was doing something significant before you showed up," Rhoda raised the concern. What Rhoda was concerned about was Romeo's lack of confidence. She didn't know him to be this shaky to the extent where he could barely speak fluently to save his life."Of course not. I assure you, you're not gonna regret having this conversation with me, and I am not even kidding," Romeo created the assurance. He paused afterward. Rhoda signaled him to speak further, but he missed the sign. Romeo made it seem like that both placed a bet on the last person to hold his breath for too long."What the fuck do you think you are doing? You've been quiet for some time now. I should have known that you were just wasting my time. What exactly do you want me to do for you? And I do hope it's something I can handle?" Rhoda asked for clarification. Romeo's a
Dexter struggled to keep up with Romeo's tempo. At the same time, he struggled to breathe properly. He hasn't seen anything like that before. The taunting from Romeo got into Dexter's head. But what was he going to do about it? Absolutely nothing! He was willing to endure the present struggle and hope for a better tomorrow. Dexter was quite aware of his numerous tortures in the hands of Jaguar and would rather not go back to that phase anymore. No one has ever inflicted so much pain on Dexter before since he was born. Not even his beloved Father or late mother.Jaguar treated Dexter as though Dexter were his biological son. It was an ugly experience for Dexter. He would give up an arm to forget about it. "Take a look at these bunch of keys. What do they mean to you? Do they ring a bell to you, or do you want me to spell it out so you would understand perfectly well what I am talking about?" Romeo asked, flashing the keys to the cell across Dexter's face. "They're the keys to y
"Welcome to your new cell, Dexter Cooper. I hope you do like it here. What the heck am I saying? Surely, are going to love it. I mean, it's surely better than your Father's palatial mansion, isn't it?" Romeo teased Dexter with a burst of wicked laughter after they arrived at a new cell. Looking at it alone, Dexter hated it. He chose not to say a word about it to avoid getting on Romeo's nerves. . It turns out that the former cell was more attractive and conducive than the new one Romeo brought Dexter to. The only difference there was Jaguar and his boys that made life a living hell for Dexter. Dexter spent lots of time scrutinizing in his new home. He was filled with regret and wished he hadn't wished for a transfer. But the thought of being beaten to death by Jaguar still scares him to death. "What are you going to say about this? You are taking too much time on something that isn't even worth that stress, and I don't like it. Are we going to spend the entire day talking about
"What do you expect me to do about this now? I still can't believe that are seriously seeking for my help. Everything is still a dream to me. Someone should please wake me up from the illusion before I go insane," Romeo said, slapping his chin to be certain he wasn't imagining things that aren't real. He still wasn't convinced about his decision yet. If Romeo was made to decide immediately without thinking about it, he would chose to walk away from the case just like every other cops. Not for once did Romeo liked Dexter. These two has got a lot of history together. Thinking about the nastiest things that Dexter had done in the past is making Romeo have a second guess. "Please, take me to a new cell. I might end up dead once you leave. These guys are threatened to torture me to death. Please come to my rescue. I don't wanna die," Dexter pleaded as hot tears rolled down his eyes. "You wanna be transferred to another cell? Now I see why you're being dealt with. What have you been
