"Argh! This is quite disgusting for me. I can't deal with it." Ciara raged and smashed the glass cup she was holding against the wall. She dashed to the dining room and cried her eyes out after seeing how empty it was.

"To think I already prepared dinner for my dad, believing that he would show up. This was gonna supposed to be a surprise. But I guess I was wrong. He didn't just show up, he spoke to me disdainfully over the phone as though I weren't his daughter." Ciara muttered succinctly as hot tears streamed down her eyes.

She had the urge to throw away the food she had prepared, into the trash can. However, a voice spoke in her head, telling her to stop, and she obeyed immediately.

Ciara also considered the stress she had to go through trying to prepare the meal. There was no way she was going to let her efforts be in vain.

"I guess I need to microwave the food. We are definitely going to eat it some other time. I can't let waste just like that." Ciara said to herself, wiped her tears and emptied the dining.

As Ciara navigated around the living room like a lost soul, her restless eyes stumbled on a photograph on the couch. She had no idea how the photograph got there because she personally tidied the house since her father's absence. Suddenly, it showed up from nowhere making her ask, "Who could have dropped it there?"

Ciara knew for sure that it wasn't her Father because he hasn't been home for a while. Ciara stopped worrying about whom dropped the picture. Slowly, Ciara grabbed the photograph and immediately, tears returned to her eyes again just when she thought she was done grieving.

"My sweet Mom,"

Ciara muttered in agony after discovering that the photograph carries her late mother's face.

Ciara's heart bleeds profusely as though she got stabbed by some professional assassin. She was lost for words to express how she felt.

The photograph of her mother brought back old memories that Ciara had forgotten and wished not to remember anymore. She had no idea that they would come back to haunt her.

As she glared at the photo, she recalled the night her mother passed away in the hospital after her father was unable to sort out the hospital bills.

"Sorry, you all. But we lost her. We tried our best to keep her alive. Unfortunately, there was nothing else we could do anymore. The hospital ran out of medics, and you weren't doing anything to help," the voice of the doctor lingers in Ciara's head.

Every morning, she wakes up with a terrible nightmare of how her life has been a mess. Oftentimes, Ciara wished she was never born into the world. That way, she doesn't get to experience the ugliest things in life.

"How I wish I could spend more time with you, mom. Too bad death sniffed life away from you just when it feels like our lives was getting better. You understand me better than anyone else. Don't worry, mom. I am going to make you proud. You got absolutely nothing to worry about," Ciara assured her mother and kissed the photograph.

As she was about to shut the doors to go sleep, she spotted a strange person loitering outside.

That moment, tiny shivers went down her spine as she freaked out. She wished that she could disappear immediately.

"Who could be knocking on the door? At this odd hour? It's late already" Ciara asked herself as the question echoed back to her as though she were in an empty room.

"Who's there? What do you want?" Ciara called out from inside. She got no response from anyone.

She tried peeping from the tiny hole of the door, yet she wasn't able to find a single soul.

Her fear increased drastically. She thought of calling the cops immediately for a suspected assassination attempt before her attention narrowed down to her Father. "Yes, I have got to call my Father immediately and explain things to him. He might just provide that help I need,"

With shaky hands, Ciara brought out her phone to call Kelly, her Father. Regardless of their recent misunderstanding, she still sees him as her only savior. She didn't for once consider that Kelly might choose not to answer the phone due to what happened between them recently.

Ciara called and was ignored by her father. For the second time, she tried calling her Father again and this time, the phone was switched off.

"Gosh! Why is my Father not taking my calls now that I needed him? Does he have the slightest idea that I am in trouble? Does he always have to pick a fight with me?" Ciara cried.

Not even her tears were enough to make her father answer the phone, let alone return fur missed calls from Ciara.

Upon realizing that she was alone, Ciara rushed to the kitchen to go grab a knife to protect herself from the unknown. She couldn't tell who the person was, but she was already speculating that it might be a sign of danger.

As Ciara headed back to the living room with the knife, a call came in. This was the part she had always avoided.

As much she was ready to defend herself, she didn't wish for anyone to break into her home.

Despite having a knife to defend herself from whoever that was coming to haunt her, Ciara still wasn't confident enough. She hasn't killed anyone before, let alone hurting a fly.

"Who's that at the damn door? Speak now or forever remain silent. Stop acting like a coward and reveal yourself to me this minute. I don't want to come there and meet you myself." Ciara asked with a commanding tone, yet her heart is filled with fear.

Raising her voice was her only what of proving that she wasn't scared. But in reality, her soul already left her body. What was left inside of Ciara was nothing but a cry for death!

"What are you scared of? I don't bite. Come on, take the envelope from me and stop acting like a baby already. An officer like you shouldn't be fidgeting. Have you forgotten what I told you about being courageous? You never can tell, it might be your letter of promotion," Lucas said. Romeo saw that as a trick and refused to fall for it. Without hesitation, he went on his knees immediately and pleaded for Lucas forgiveness. "I am sorry for the things I did to you. None of them were intentional. I've learned my lessons now. Please, I don't want to end up like Tony. I deserve a second chance,"The dismissal of Tony still lives rent-free in Romeo's head like a movie. He wouldn't want his situation to be like that. "You don't want to end up like Tony, right? That's quite ambitious if you ask me," Lucas scoffed."I don't know what you are talking about. I can't recall what happened to Tony. Can you please remind me?" "You dismissed him because of Dexter Cooper, sir. Not just that, he als

"He needs to reach out to his Father. His Father is not even aware that he's been arrested," Romeo pleaded. He was ready to scrub both knees on the tiled floor just to prove how serious he was. "Now this is getting more serious than I expected. How much did Dexter pay you to do this for him? Because I mean, you can't go this for a total stranger you know nothing about," Rhoda confronted Romeo with the disturbing question."Excuse me?" Romeo fumed. "What do you take me for? Do you think I'm one of those hungry-looking cops out there who would sell their dignity for money?" "Perhaps, she might be right. No one knows the reason you are doing this," A masculine voice interrupted them from close range. The voice sounded like Lucas. Where Romeo was, he prayed silently and wished it wasn't Lucas. Lucas, so far, has proved to be Romeo's greatest fear ever. He wasn't even confident enough to look into Lucas' eyes and speak to him directly, let alone confront him. "Good evening, Boss. You ar

"I am listening to you Romeo. Since you got here, you haven't said anything worthy of my attention. I just hope I am not wasting my time with you? Because I was doing something significant before you showed up," Rhoda raised the concern. What Rhoda was concerned about was Romeo's lack of confidence. She didn't know him to be this shaky to the extent where he could barely speak fluently to save his life."Of course not. I assure you, you're not gonna regret having this conversation with me, and I am not even kidding," Romeo created the assurance. He paused afterward. Rhoda signaled him to speak further, but he missed the sign. Romeo made it seem like that both placed a bet on the last person to hold his breath for too long."What the fuck do you think you are doing? You've been quiet for some time now. I should have known that you were just wasting my time. What exactly do you want me to do for you? And I do hope it's something I can handle?" Rhoda asked for clarification. Romeo's a
