Claire’s POV

The air outside the building felt suffocating.

All of us stood in uneven lines, waiting to be called one by one. The tension was so thick it pressed against my lungs. It reminded me of job applicants waiting for interviews , except this wasn’t about employment.

It was about survival.

Armed guards stood at every corner, rifles slung across their chests, eyes scanning us like we were livestock. Low whispers moved through the crowd in nervous waves. I kept my head lowered, mimicking t

  • Married To My Enemy   chapter 14

Grey’s POVI pulled the rooftop door open, ready to drown out Felix’s voice with the silence of my room. But instead of empty space, I was met with Leah. She froze.Just as startled as I was.Her eyes widened for a split second, and I could see it—the flicker of panic. Like she was about to bolt, like a kid caught snooping through drawers they shouldn’t even know existed. She quickly straightened, tucking her hair behind her ear like nothing happened.“I was just walking around… got lost,” she said, way too fast.My brow furrowed. “Lost? On the rooftop?”She forced a casual shrug. “Didn’t know it was the rooftop until I got here. Door looked the same.”She wasn’t a great liar. Not tonight.I stepped out, letting the door fall shut behind me. She shifted uncomfortably, her hands now clasped behind her back.“How long have you been ‘lost’ here?” I asked, watching her closely.Leah looked away, pretending to admire the skyline. “A while. Why?”She definitely heard something. She turned

Claire’s POV“I said Claire,” she repeated, her voice soft but firm. “Because that’s your real name, isn’t it?”My heart thudded painfully in my chest. I backed up a step.“I think you’re mistaken—”“I’m not,” Evelyn cut in smoothly. “Claire Moskvin Frederickson. Daughter of Frederick. I worked for your family once, a long time ago. You probably don’t remember. But I remember you.”I swallowed hard, my throat dry. She definitely wasn’t pretending it was a slip.“How long have you known?” I whispered. She shrugged gently, walking over to the now-bare bookshelf and tracing her fingers along the edge. “Since the moment I saw you walk through those doors. I worked for your mother, she was he kindest person i’ve ever met. And your father – he was a total jerk, a dickhead. I know you're not here to marry anyone—you’re here for revenge.”The room tilted a little.“You can’t tell anyone,” I blurted out, my voice hoarse. “Please.”Evelyn turned to face me fully now, her warm facade still intac

  • Married To My Enemy   chapter 12

Claire’s POVI woke up with a pounding headache and a mouth that tasted like regret. The sunlight bleeding through the curtains was way too bright, stabbing at my eyes like little needles.I groaned, lifting a hand to shield my face. Then it hit me....like a slap. The kiss.My eyes flew open, heart lurching into my throat. No… no, no, no.I sat up abruptly and smacked my forehead with the heel of my palm. “God, please tell me that didn’t actually happen.”Did I really kiss Felix?I tried to piece it together, but the memories were tangled, fuzzy, wrapped in alcohol and impulse. His face had been close. His lips had been warm. But did he really kiss me back, or had I imagined the whole thing? It felt like a dream. Or maybe a nightmare.I looked around the room. Nothing out of place. No jacket tossed over a chair. No sign that Felix had even been in here. I exhaled sharply, half-relieved, half-anxious.Maybe it hadn’t happened.Or maybe he just left before I woke up.I shoved off the co

  • Married To My Enemy   chapter 11

Claire’s POVThe makeup artist took a step back as she admires her work, she looked proud as she did. “you look perfect and ready to go, Miss” she said as a small smile crept unto her face. I took a look at myself on the mirror and was also impressed by how much i have changed. My hair was style in a loose wave that fell down my shoulders, and the black dress hugged my body tightly, accentuating my curves. The dress was elegant yet daring, with a slit running up my leg. The deep red lipstick added a soft edge, making me look like the perfect bride-to-be for someone like Grey.Do i even want to be seen with him? Absolute fucking not!I picked up my purse and headed over to the parking lot, i was already a few minutes late, but i don’t think i give a fuck, after all, he always stood me up during occasions like this. As I stepped into the parking lot, my heels clicking against the pavement, I expected to find an empty space where Grey’s car should have been. It would have been typical of

  • Married To My Enemy   chapter 10

Claire’s POVI rolled my eyes in disgust as I watched the woman still half-naked, linger on Grey’s bed. I couldn’t care less about her; if anything, she was just another ugly reminder of how messed up this whole situation was. Before I could process it further, Grey emerged from the bathroom, freshly showered and dripping with steam. His shock was unmistakable as he spotted her on the bed.“Why are you still here?” he demanded sharply. The woman scrambled, hastily pulling her dress back on and shoving her shoes into a bag. As she made a beeline for the door, she deliberately bumped into me, her glare burning into my back before she stormed out without even a whisper of apology.I scoffed, arms crossed, as I watched her leave. Once the door closed behind her, I couldn’t hold back any longer. “Can you at least try to lock your door if you’re going to engage in disgusting acts like that?” I snapped, glaring at Grey with equal parts shock and contempt. For a moment, he just stared at me,

  • Married To My Enemy   chapter 9

Claire’s POVI folded my arms, raising a brow at him. "No, Grey. You’re going to open the door for me, or I’m not getting in."His jaw tightened, and for a moment, I thought he might actually refuse. But then, with an exasperated sigh, he stepped forward, yanked the car door open, and gestured dramatically. "There. Happy now?"I smirked, stepping past him and sliding into the seat. "See? That wasn’t so hard, was it?"Grey muttered something under his breath as he shut the door with a little more force than necessary before rounding the car and getting into the driver’s seat. The tension between us was thick, but I refused to let him think he could just push me around. As he started the car and pulled onto the road, I stole a glance at him. His grip on the steering wheel was firm, his expression unreadable."Where exactly are we going?" I asked after a few moments of silence."a restaurant," he replied coldlyI rolled my eyes. "You mean you stood me up for hours, and you don’t even hav
