DENVER'S POV

For the umpteenth time, a piercing sound rings in my ears.

My eyelids suddenly feel extremely heavy and for some weird reason, my entire body doesn't cooperate to move like I want it to.

Someone has doused the entire atmosphere with antiseptic and it's making me wheeze like I'm fighting for breath.

What the hell's going on?

Is that a beep? My head finally cooperates to move to the side so I can locate where the sound is from. Truly, it's a beep and it's from a machine.

Is this a....for fuck's sake, what am I doing in a hospital?

The words are just in my head as my tongue refuses to let me express my disdain. Someone's eyes locks with mine...I know those eyes but they leave mine and I hear the scream.

"Doctor! Doctor!"

An elderly man in a white coat finds his way into the room. He peers into my face, grabbing his stethoscope to press the coldness of it on my chest.
