LOGINKNOX'S POV I stared out the window until Ysoria's vehicle drove off, and then Alpha Bryn's vehicle, the same one which Sable was in. I had no idea Alpha Bryn would agree with his mother's demands without a second thought. At least not now when it has to do with Sable going hunting with us. It was the most boring activity since my existence in this park. Ysoria had always treated hunting like some sacred ceremony. When we were children, she got us stuffed into stiff riding jackets, leather boots that pinched our feet, and ridiculous hats that made us look like nobles from a century ago. Apparently, looking uncomfortable was part of the experience. I never complained, never could. All I could do was put on a stiff face as well as Alpha Bryn and watch Ysoria and the late Alpha act all lovingly right in front of us. It became way worse when the Alpha and Ysoria were no longer getting along. We had to go hunting twice a year, right after
SABLE'S POV I was excited about the fact I didn't need to be a part of this ancient park's tradition. But to Ysoria, she saw it as bounding with nature and it was clearly a legacy to keep up with. Well I had no issues with that, as long as I was being exempted. I wouldn't risk being in the woods with my enemy, not just any enemy, Ysoria. And she would be having a gun to herself, she wouldn't hesitate to shoot me down obviously, and then get me out of her sight as she always wanted. I sighed in relief as I stepped out of the building towards the open garage. Guards were already standing out waiting. And the crazy Parks crier who almost blew my ears up this morning with his horn stood at a corner waiting to do that again. I couldn't understand why that was necessary once again, but to Ysoria, it was upholding tradition, sigh. The SUV which I assumed was the one conveying Alpha Bryn stood a few steps away and a few guards surrounded it. I walked right
SABLE'S POV I heard the loud sound of horns, and my eyes bolted open almost immediately. I laid on my bed for a second trying to process its meaning, and then it clicked. I jerked off from my bed. Actually , it wasn't my bed I just realized. I was on Knox's bed. “Ohhh shit!” I mumbled, almost sitting upright when a hand pulled me back into the bed. It was Knox. He still had his eyes tightly shut as he wrapped his hands around my waist. Well, this was a beautiful sight to see, and I would have loved to wrap my arms around him as well and go back to sleep. But that wasn't happening, the horn signifies Alpha Bryn already up and ready to head out for the annual hunting game. “Knox.” I whispered, tugging him lightly. He bluntly ignored, digging his jaw into my shoulder. “Knox wake up!” I shook more violently. He pulled his eyes open, a mild smile tugging on his lips. “We should enjoy the morning, don't you think?” He squeezed f
KNOX'S POVI could read through all of Sable's actions, it was fear. I hated myself for that. Even after all this while, I hadn't succeeded in erasing fear from her mind. She was probably afraid of me just the same way she was of Alpha Bryn. I was wrong for treating her the same way everyone else did, I should have done better. From the day at the bar, to the day at my chamber, I always ended up making the wrong choices and those choices in turn brought terrible results. Like making me look like a monster right in front of Sable, nothing hurt more than that. I thought about leaving, but she wouldn't let me. I knew I should leave, but her soft palm against mine wasn't something one could walk out on so easily. She wanted more, even I did. But what was all of this without trust? “I dropped my hands on her cheek, caressing its softness as I stared right at her. I had a whole lot of questions to ask, but Sable's gaze had shut them all off. All
SABLE'S POV Knox wasn't part of the people that would take my smile, but he'd done that a couple of times, and he probably still would. My smile slowly faded off and it seemed like Knox realized that. The realization was fucking scary, eeryone here were actually similar, they were all chasing a single notion, power. Knox couldn't be exempted, it was too soon to say he brought back my smile while everyone else was hell bent on taking it. Well, he was actually my first source of pain so my words weren't so true. He was like a double mix, both hot and cold. He burnt me on some days only to return and cool me off with his eyes. Yeah this was actually fucked up. “People like?” Knox squinted his brows patiently waiting for me. He so much wanted to hear those words, hear me say he was the only one that could keep my laughter and that everyone else couldn't give me what he always had given me, but I couldn't. I shook my head, slowly pulling away from him.
SABLE'S POV I wasn't going to let Ysoria's action be the highlight of my day, I wasn't willing to duel on that. And I was glad Knox was available to take that all away. You could call me evil, but, or probably selfish, I would take it, but only for today. I knew it was going to be a really terrible mental breakdown when I got back to my chamber, probably that would be the point I pick up my belongings and leave, never to return. I could be irrational when I am losing it, and right now, Ysoria has put me in a state where I could lose my rationality for a long time. It all felt like a joke, probably she was trying to taunt me. But I had no idea, she meant it. She was gonna choke me, probably to death and Alpha Bryn wouldn't have said shit about it. What in God's name was I doing with such a kind of a man, I hated him, more than I did before. And when he made it clear to me, my position in his life, I lost it. Well, yeah I knew from the onset that I meant nothing to Alpha Bryn, but it
KNOX'S POV I stood in front of Sable's door for a long while, my back pressed against it as I wondered what had just happened. She had earlier seemed so not interested in what I had to say, and then in a split her lips were landing over mine and not long after we were all over each other, but tha
SABLE'S POVI took a step backwards, and then another until my feet got fused to the chair. Knox stared at my face, and then down to my feet before letting out a knowing smile. “What then is my Job Sable?” He mumbled almost into my ear. “What then would you have me do if protection ain't in the bo
SABLE'S POVI had stayed in the garden for at least an extra two hours, murmuring words to myself like I'd gone crazy. Not because I wanted to rebel against Ysoria's words or because I loved the garden so much, well I loved the garden so much. But right now, that wasn't the fucking point. Well I me
KNOX'S POV I couldn't take my eyes off from Sable no matter how I tried. I couldn't take myself off the balcony as well. The only prompt of leaving that spot I had was to walk down the hallway, out the building and towards the garden. Sit next to Sable and have the maid servant prepare a better ba
