~Sable

Before I could even process the noise.. the room was full of them... large grim-faced men in suits that did nothing to hide their thick necks and rude attitudes.

I gasped, scrambling upright and clutching the soft white sheet to my chest. It was the only thing between me and total nudity.

“What the hell?” I managed to sputter with my voice still raspy with sleep.

The lead guy who was a bulldog of a man with a broken nose didn’t even look at my face. His eyes scanned the room... the rumpled bed, my torn dress on the floor... and his lip curled in disgust.

“What do we have here? Grab her.”

“Don’t you touch me!” I hissed, yanking the sheet tighter as two of them advanced.

They didn’t listen.

Rough hands grabbed my arms, pulling me from the warmth of the bed. The sheet tangled around my legs and I fought, kicking out with a stream of curses flying from my mouth that would have made a sailor blush.

“You idiots! Let go of me! Get your filthy hands off!”

The one holding my right arm sighed like I was a toddler throwing a tantrum.

“Just hold still, would ya? We’re not here to look at the merchandise. We’re here to collect it.”

“I’m not your goddamn merchandise!”

My bravado was a thin shield and it was cracking fast. The memory of Knox’s gentle hands and his low voice asking if I was sure, was a painful contrast to these gorillas manhandling me. I was sore in places that were a beautiful reminder of last night and now it was being fucking ruined;

After a minute of my furious struggling, the bulldog guy snapped.

“For Pete’s sake, let her get dressed. We don’t have all day.”

They released me, turning their backs with a theatrical roll of their eyes. I stood there, trembling and clutching the sheet. My beautiful torn dress from last night was tossed onto the bed as my only option. The humiliation burned as I pulled it on with the fabric feeling sad now. I couldn’t even find my shoes.

They marched me out of the room, each one holding an elbow. I held my head as high as I could but I could feel the stares from people in the hallway. A maid quickly looked away, a guest peered out from his door with his eyes wide and I felt like a convict on a perp walk.

The ride in the black car was silent and tense. Bulldog sat up front, grumbling to the driver.

“Stupid girl. Doesn’t she know what she’s done? Running off like that. We’ll be lucky if this doesn’t start a damn war.”

I stared out the window with my stomach churning. A war? What were they talking about?

All too soon, the car pulled up to the house I’d run from just yesterday. It felt like a lifetime ago. The door was yanked open and I was pulled out and marched up the path. The front door swung open before we even reached it.

And there he was. Corvin. My stepfather. His face was purple with a rage so intense I thought his eyes might pop right out of his head.

The men shoved me forward.

“We found her,” Bulldog said with his voice all business. “At the Regency Hotel. Room was registered to a John Smith. Obviously fake.”

Corvin’s eyes locked on me and widened in pure alarm. The color drained from his face then flooded back darker than before. He took a step toward me with his voice coming as a low and dangerous whisper.

“The hotel? You spent the night there? With someone?”

I said nothing. I just stood there in my torn dress and dirty feet.

He grabbed my chin, forcing my face up.

“Answer me, you wretched girl! Did he touch you? Did you… is it gone? Is your virtue gone?”

The word ‘virtue’ sounded so ancient and stupid coming from his snarling mouth. A strange calm settled over me and I looked him right in the eye.

“Yes,” I said with my voice surprisingly steady. “He forced me though. I was drunk and I don’t really remember what he looked like.”

It was a gamble, a lie served on a silver platter to save my own skin and secretly, to cherish the truth. I chose. It was my terms and it was beautiful.

For a second Corvin just stared, processing the words. Then, he erupted. Spit flew from his mouth as he roared with his hands clenching into fists at his sides. He looked like he wanted to strangle the life right out of me as he took a shuddering step forward and I flinched, bracing for the blow.

It came suddenly in a sharp open-handed slap across my face that snapped my head to the side and my cheek exploded in fiery pain.

“You foolish, ruined...!” he screamed.

“Corvin.”

A new voice cut through his rage cool and calm. It wasn’t loud but it commanded absolute silence. Corvin froze with his hand still raised for another strike.

We both turned to where a man stood in the doorway, leaning against the frame as if he’d been watching the whole show. He was tall, impeccably dressed in a dark suit and he radiated a quiet power that made Corvin’s bluster look pathetic. He was definitely a werewolf. You could just… tell. It was in the way he held himself.. the sharp intelligence in his eyes.

Corvin immediately dropped his hand and his anger vanished, replaced by sheer groveling panic as he actually bowed his head.

“Sir! I... I apologize for this unpleasantness.”

He grabbed my arm and yanked me down into a clumsy bow.

“Bow to your betters, you idiot girl!” he hissed at me.

The man just watched with a slight unamused curve to his mouth.

“I'm Octavian and I’ve come to collect the Alpha’s property and finalize the accord,” he said with hhis voice sounding like smooth steel. “I trust she is ready.”

Corvin began to sweat and I could see it beading on his forehead.

“About that, sir… there was a… a minor complication last night. You see, the Alpha himself came to collect his bride, a great honor, of course… but the girl… she… she ran off like a wild fucking bird and.. and..!”

He was stammering and unable to say the words.

Octavian’s eyes flicked to me and for a split second, I felt like he could see right through my lie, right through my dress and right into the secret happy place in my heart where I kept the memory of Knox.. a cold dread trickled down my spine.

“Take her to her room,” Corvin ordered at the bulldog men, seizing the distraction. “Make her presentable. Now!”

I was hauled upstairs and shoved into my bedroom.

“Don’t try anything funny,” one of them grunted before closing the door. I heard the lock click and their heavy footsteps right outside.

Funny? What was funny about this? I went to the window, planning my next great escape and looked down. Two more men stood directly below, looking right back up at me. So much for that.

With a sigh, I peeled off the torn dress and put on a simple, modest navy blue one. It felt like a uniform and as I changed, I could hear more voices downstairs... deeper, more authoritative than Corvin’s nervous sputtering.. more wolves had arrived.

I took a deep breath, unlocked my door and walked out. The men outside fell in step behind me like grim shadows.

The scene in the living room had changed. Corvin was on his knees now with his head bowed so low his forehead almost touched the floor and he was apologizing over and over to a group of three new men who stood with their backs to me.

“...deepest regrets… the girl is willful… we will compensate…” he was blubbering.

One of the new men, the one in the center, turned at the sound of my footsteps. His gaze swept over me, assessing an calculating and I gasped and faltered the moment I met his eyes…

  • Married To The Alpha, Marked By His Beta!   IT’S IN MY HEAD

ALPHA BRYN'S POV Mum stared at me, waiting patiently for my decision. Either I chose to drag on with her or return peacefully to my spot. Well, I chose peace. I was already totally drained and the last thing I would be adding to the list of my problems was a back and forth with her. She could have whatever, however she wanted. As long as I wasn't ending up dead or I wasn't losing my sanity, I was okay with that. All I needed to do was sit around and listen to whatever she had to say, and that was exactly what I did. I sank right into the chair, shutting my eyes close for a second, in a bid to catch my breath. “Good.” Mum muttered. She walked back to me, the click sound of her shoe growing louder and louder until it finally paused. I heard her sink into the chair next to mine, forcing me to pull my eyes open. I had a frown on my face as I was genuinely irritated by her action

  • Married To The Alpha, Marked By His Beta!   CANT STAND MUM

ALPHA BRYN'S POVI couldn't believe mum's words. After staring at her for a long while, I chuckled out in disbelief. Everyday I find out new dreadful details about my mother. I guess I was no longer moved by any of them. Although it was now clear to me, I wasn't the only one she didn't care about. She clearly didn't give a fuck about anyone but herself. Not even Luncian,Her favourite sex toy from years back. Well, if she didn't care about me, who could she possibly care about?I shook my head lightly before sinking into a chair quite far away from hers. I turned on the television, clearly in a bid to ignore her, probably until she leaves. “You look at me like I committed a grave sin.” She said, upon realizing I was done speaking to her. I ignored her still.“Ohh my God, Luncian is dead….” She said all of a sudden. Her tone startled, dragging my attention right back to her.She had a forced frown on her face, one that faded off the moment our eyes met. She burst out in a l

  • Married To The Alpha, Marked By His Beta!   CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF HER.

KNOX'S POV Sable remained curled up in my arms, her breath uneven, as mine. We'd spent hours making love. I couldn't get enough of her, neither could she get enough of me as well. It was obvious, from the way she looked at me like I was all that mattered to her,The way she gripped me firmly, pulling me back to herself whenever she sensed I was about to get off her skin. She was all over me and that triggered a thing inside of me. Knowing that someone could die, just so she could be with you. That someone was willing to do any fucking thing to breath the same air as you did, it was another feeling entirely. I felt the same way about Sable. Even before now.But the urge only became greater while we got all over each other. We hadn't been intimate for a while now, majorly because I feared Sable's health wouldn't let us. And tonight, we finally had to do all we'd kept locked up in our heads for weeks now. It felt like our first ever sex,Like I was only getting to know her bod

  • Married To The Alpha, Marked By His Beta!   RUINING MY PEACE TREAT

ALPHA BRYN'S POV I stayed just the way I was hoping whoever it was that had just walked in would get the fuck out of my chamber and leave me to my peace treat. The door slammed shut, followed by the clicking sound of heels.Okay, so whomever it was had refused to leave. I signed out loudly, still not opening my eyes. For a second, I felt as though I was being watched. Yeah well, I definitely was being watched. Who walks into the room, walks close enough and then decides to remain silent. I inhaled, and then exhaled. “Whatever you want can wait until later, as you can see I'm pretty busy.” I mumbled. What I wasn't expecting was an outburst of laughter from none other. Well of course, it was mum. I still wouldn't pull my eyes open and remained just as I was, only at this point I'd been disconnected from my mind. Not that I ever got to connect with

  • Married To The Alpha, Marked By His Beta!   REMEMBER BRYN

ALPHA BRYN'S POVWhat's worse than watching your pack fall apart and not being able to do anything?Or probably being looked upon as a piece of shit because of the inevitable. Yeah well, I think nothing. With every passing second, I'd begun to feel more miserable than the last. I'd begun to sink deeper and deeper into its realm, and all of this happened in less than a day. Proudly sponsored, the dark force that had decided to haunt down my pack, to hunt down the Black pine reach. After Knox left my chamber, the loud slam of my door was enough to drag me back into reality, but it wasn't. I was still far drawn into my miserable realm. All the sound did was remind me I was still alive in the room and whatever I’d earlier done and said to Sable wasn't from the drunk part of myself. No, it was sober Bryn, just a bit miserable. I guess being drunk and being miserable had the same effect on me.I sighed out loudly, my gaze resting on the bottle of whiskey next to me.I looked away t

  • Married To The Alpha, Marked By His Beta!   WHAT MY INTRUSIVE THOUGHT WANTED

SABLE'S POV Knox wouldn't say a word to me no matter how much I spoke. I followed behind him, laying out reasons I'd thought anchored my decisions. But the more I spelt the words out, the more dumb it sounded in my ears, and maybe Knox could tell as well. “I'm not gonna do something this sneaky, ever again.” I called out. Knox looked towards me and then he exhaled sharply. We were now right in front of my Chambers door. I stood right in front of the door, backing it as I blinked apologetically at Knox. “I promise!” I added. He stretched his hands out as though wanting to grab my shoulders, but then she creaked my door right open. I staggered backwards, but he gripped on my wrist the next second. He pushed me on until I was fully inside my room, and then he shut the door behind him.

  • Married To The Alpha, Marked By His Beta!   The Stranger In The Club

~SableUp close with the stranger, the shadows melted away and my bravado almost did too.Holy shit..!The man was… fucking handsome! Like, stop-your-heart-and-then-kick-it-into-overdrive handsome. He was older, maybe early forties with little crinkles at the corners of his eyes that suggested he’

  • Married To The Alpha, Marked By His Beta!   A Virgin For Sale

~Sable“Sable! You get your scrawny ass back here, you little fucking shit! What the fuck are you up to now!”The scream rang far behind me into the night as I ran.The night was harshly cold with the cold air filling my lungs at every gasp but it was nothing compared to the sound of Corvin’s voice

  • Married To The Alpha, Marked By His Beta!   Complications

CHAPTER 4: ComplicationsSable's POVThe air vanished from my lungs the moment I met his eyes.. It wasn't just his size though he was enormous. It wasn't even the inhuman, gold-flecked glow in his eyes, though that was seriously freaky. It was the sheer crushing weight of his presence that hit me

  • Married To The Alpha, Marked By His Beta!   VIOLENCE DISGUISED AS SPORT

KNOX'S POV I stormed onto the golf course like a man walking into a battlefield instead of a game. My range hadn't eased up even for a bit even after the long reckless drive, I still wanted to do more, I still wanted to get these thoughts off from my head so badly. The quiet elegance of the club o
